Abstract

Background: Hypertension is a major public health concern, especially among the elderly, as it increases the risk of cardiovascular diseases, stroke, and kidney failure. Effective management requires strict medication compliance, but adherence remains low due to factors like forgetfulness, complex regimens, and side effects. This study aimed to analyze relationship between body mass index and medication compliance in hypertensive patients. Methods: This cross-sectional study examined the relationship between medication compliance and Body Mass Index (BMI) in 76 elderly hypertensive patients. Data were collected using the Morisky Medication Compliance Scale (MMAS-8), BMI measurements, and medical records. Statistical analysis, including the Chi-Square test, was conducted using SPSS.Results: The findings a significant relationship between Body Mass Index (BMI) and medication compliance, showing that individuals with normal BMI (28.9%) have higher adherence (25.0%) compared to those who are underweight (39.5%) or obese/overweight (31.6%), with the latter group exhibiting the highest rate of poor compliance (52.6%) and none adhering well, emphasizing the statistical significance of this relationship (P= 0.000) and the need to understand how health-related behaviors interact with physical health indicators like BMI.Conclusion: This study shows a significant relationship between Body Mass Index and medication compliance, with individuals who are obese or overweight having the highest rates of poor compliance, while those with normal BMI demonstrate better adherence, possibly due to fewer health-related complications.

Abstract

The establishment of a minimum age limit of 40 years for candidates for President and Vice President has sparked debate because it limits the participation of the younger generation. The impact of Constitutional Court Decision No. 90/PUU-XXI/2023 on human rights and the democratic system is still limited. This research aims to examine the impact of the decision on constitutional rights related to equality, non-discrimination, and political access. This research uses normative juridical research methods, with statutory and conceptual approaches. The results of this study found that the Constitutional Court Decision No. 90/PUU-XXI/2023 provided significant changes in expanding the access of experienced young people to run for office. However, the decision also raises concerns regarding the potential politicization of judicial institutions that could threaten the independence of the judiciary. Therefore, strict supervision and balanced policies are needed to maintain the rule of law and ensure a healthy and sustainable democracy.

Abstract

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of learning discipline as a mediating variable in the relationship between learning motivation and students’ academic achievement in Economics at SMA Negeri 8 Padang. Field observations indicate a gap between students’ high learning motivation and their suboptimal academic performance, suggesting the presence of an intervening factor within the learning process. A quantitative approach was employed using a survey method and path analysis technique. Data were collected through questionnaires distributed to 120 11th-grade social science students and analyzed using statistical software to test the relationships among variables. The findings reveal that learning motivation has a positive and significant effect on learning discipline, and both variables simultaneously have a significant impact on students’ academic achievement. Learning discipline was found to be a significant mediating variable that strengthens the influence of motivation on academic performance. In other words, students with high motivation who lack disciplined study habits tend not to achieve optimal learning outcomes. The study concludes that learning discipline plays a crucial role in bridging students’ internal motivation and their academic success. These findings emphasize the importance of fostering structured and consistent learning behaviors to improve student achievement, especially in subjects that require conceptual understanding and logical reasoning such as Economics. This research is expected to contribute to the development of more effective, character-oriented learning strategies.
