Abstract

Introduction: Tuberculosis (TB) continues to pose significant health and economic challenges globally. Drug-resistant TB (DR-TB), particularly resistance to bedaquiline (BDQ), threatens the efficacy of current treatment regimens. Limited phenotypic drug susceptibility testing (DST) capacity exacerbates the issue, delaying appropriate interventions. This study examined BDQ resistance patterns among pulmonary DR-TB patients in Indonesia, where evidence on BDQ resistance remains scarce. Methods: A retrospective analysis of 393 DR-TB cases was conducted using data from the National TB Database (SITB) at Persahabatan National Respiratory Referral Hospital, Jakarta, Indonesia, between 2021 and 2023. Patients were classified based on the World Health Organization (WHO) 2022 DR-TB guidelines. Resistance patterns were determined through phenotypic DST using the BACTEC Mycobacteria Growth Indicator Tube (MGIT) system. Descriptive statistics summarized patient demographics and resistance profiles. Results: Among the 393 patients, 10 (2.54%) demonstrated BDQ resistance, with 8 cases arising without prior BDQ exposure. Mono/poly-resistance to Rifampicin and/or Isoniazid was the most prevalent pattern (44.29%). Multidrug-resistant TB (MDR-TB) was observed in 40.20% of cases, while pre-extensively DR and extensively DR-TB constituted 7.90% and 0.25%, respectively. Comorbidities, predominantly diabetes mellitus (DM), were identified in 33.59% of patients. Conclusion: This study revealed an alarming BDQ resistance rate (2.50% in MDR-TB cases), underscoring the urgent need for improved access to DST and TB management infrastructure in Indonesia. Strengthening diagnostic capacity and monitoring systems is critical to mitigating the spread of resistance and supporting effective treatment strategies.

Abstract

Teaching children aged 7–11 years to read the Qur'an (BQ) requires methods that are appropriate to the cognitive development characteristics and reading abilities of the students. One of the methods used in tahsin and tahfidz learning is the Maisura Method, which emphasizes the accuracy of makhraj, the application of tajwid rules, and consistency of reading through structured learning stages. This study aims to analyze the application of the Maisura Method in BQ learning at MI Tarbiyatus Syarifah and to examine the differences in its application based on grade level, student ability groups, and pedagogical challenges faced by teachers. This study uses a descriptivequalitative approach with data collection techniques in the form of observations and interviews with BQ teachers and students aged 7–11 years. Data analysis was conducted using the Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña model through the stages of data condensation, data presentation, and conclusion drawing, and its validity was tested through triangulation. The results showed that the Maisura Method was applied systematically through the stages of providing reading examples, imitation, repetition, submission, and continuous correction. The effectiveness of this method varied across grade levels, with lower grade students showing a higher level of acceptance than higher grade students who already had existing reading patterns. Teacher accuracy and consistency were the main determinants of the success of this method in teaching reading. Keywords : The Maisura Method, Reading the Qur'an, Quality of Reading

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the forms, levels, and impacts of gadget addiction among elementary school children in Tulangan, Sidoarjo. The increasing use of gadgets, which initially functioned as learning and entertainment tools, has developed into a source of dependency affecting children’s psychological, social, academic, and religious aspects. This research employed a descriptive qualitative design within a positivistic paradigm. Data were collected through non-participant observation and semi-structured interviews with three elementary school children categorized into moderate, severe, and very severe addiction levels, along with parents as supporting informants. Data analysis followed the Miles, Huberman, and Saldana model, including data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing and verification carried out simultaneously throughout the research process. The findings reveal significant differences in the frequency and duration of gadget use according to addiction levels. In the moderate category, children used gadgets for 1–2 hours per day, showing decreased concentration and mild emotional dependency. In the severe category, usage increased to 3–4 hours per day, accompanied by reduced social interaction, emotional control disturbances, and decreased learning motivation. In the very severe category, usage exceeded 5 hours per day, marked by social isolation, emotional regulation disorders, behavioral changes, and decreased discipline in learning and religious activities. These findings indicate that gadget addiction affects not only children’s psychological and social behavior but also the formation of moral and spiritual values. The study highlights the importance of parental supervision and proportional guidance in children’s gadget use.

Abstract

Abstract

The increasing frequency and intensity of tropical cyclones driven by climate change pose growing threats to food and nutrition security. Globally, an estimated 80–90 tropical cyclones occur annually, affecting approximately 119 million people. Evidence regarding their impact on food systems, dietary patterns, and nutritional status remains fragmented. This scoping review aimed to map global evidence on the impacts of tropical cyclones on food and nutrition security, identify key pathways of impact, and examine affected indicators at household and individual levels. The review followed Joanna Briggs Institute guidelines and PRISMA-ScR. Searches were conducted in PubMed/MEDLINE, Web of Science, Scopus, and Google Scholar for peer-reviewed articles published between 2015 and 2025. Eligible studies reported food security, dietary, or nutritional outcomes following cyclone events. Data were extracted and thematic analysis identified common impact pathways. Twelve studies from Asia, Africa, the Caribbean, the Pacific, and the United States were included. Tropical cyclones were associated with reduced food availability and access, damage to water and sanitation systems, declining household income, increased reliance on food aid, and reduced dietary diversity. Reported nutrition outcomes included low mid-upper arm circumference and body mass index among women and children, as well as elevated rates of stunting and underweight. Governance challenges and social inequalities further exacerbated food and nutrition insecurity. Overall, tropical cyclones undermine food and nutrition security through interconnected environmental, economic, and social pathways, highlighting the need for climate-resilient food systems and nutrition-sensitive disaster responses. Abstract

Dating behavior among junior high school students has the potential to impact student focus and character development. As a preventative measure, Islamic educational institutions implement a gender segregation policy by separating classes between boys and girls. This study aims to describe student dating behavior and explore the effectiveness of gender segregation in preventing such behavior at "Semut Hitam" Junior High School. This study used a descriptive qualitative approach using observation, interviews, and documentation techniques. Informants were selected purposively, including guidance and counseling teachers, student affairs officials, and the school environment. Data analysis was conducted using the Miles, Huberman, and Saldana model. The results indicate that the student segregation policy successfully reduced the frequency of dating behavior. Class separation proved quite effective in limiting direct cross-gender interaction during learning and school activities, supported by teacher supervision, discipline, and the instillation of Islamic values. The effectiveness of this policy is also reflected in some alumni who continue to maintain boundaries with the opposite sex after graduation. Furthermore, peer solidarity was found, with students tending not to disclose hidden dating behavior and leaving the monitoring process to the school's mechanisms.
