Abstract

Indonesian students' mathematical literacy in PISA assessments remains low, particularly in the Change and Relationships content area. Most existing studies are quantitative and therefore have not revealed the cognitive processes underlying student errors. This study aims to analyze errors and problem-solving strategies of eighth-grade students in solving PISA Change and Relationships Level 2 problems using the PISA mathematical literacy framework (formulate–employ–interpret). A qualitative case study approach was employed, involving 15 eighth-grade students from SMP Al Wildan Islamic School 22 Makassar. The test instrument consisted of three PISA Level 2 tasks with contexts of goods pricing, intravenous drip rate, and currency exchange. Six students were selected through purposive sampling for in-depth interviews. Data were collected through diagnostic tests, semi-structured interviews, and documentation of student work, then analyzed using source triangulation. Results show that average answer accuracy is only 44.4%,with three consistently identified error categories: representation and modeling errors at the formulate stage, procedural errors at the employ stage, and absent result verification habits at the interpret stage. Successful students demonstrate relational understanding and strong metacognitive awareness. This study contributes a specific error mapping per PISA mathematical literacy stage for Change and Relationships Level 2 content, along with operationally distinct intervention recommendations for each error category

Abstract

This study aims to analyze students’ difficulties in solving PISA Level 4 equivalent mathematical literacy tasks based on the Formulate, Employ, and Interpret (FEI) processes and to identify scaffolding implications at each stage. A descriptive design with quantitative and qualitative approaches was employed involving 28 ninth-grade junior high school students who worked on four PISA Level 4 equivalent tasks. Quantitative analysis was used to map students’ achievement profiles across the FEI processes, while qualitative analysis examined selected students’ written solution traces. The results indicate that students’ difficulties were most prominent at the formulate stage, as reflected in incomplete mathematical representations, although some students were able to carry out procedures (employ) and obtain correct final answers. Procedural errors and conceptual misconceptions persisted at the employ stage, whereas at the interpret stage students tended to stop at numerical results without adequately relating them to the problem context. These findings suggest that the FEI processes are interconnected and conceptually hierarchical, although they are not always explicitly articulated in students’ written responses, and provide a basis for future action-oriented research aimed at improving instruction and students’ performance in PISA assessments.

Abstract

This study aims to analyse the mathematical literacy skills of students at Makassar State Senior High School 2 in solving Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) Level 5 questions, as well as to identify the types of errors and thinking strategies that arise during the solving process. This study was motivated by the low mathematical literacy scores of Indonesian students in the PISA study (OECD, 2021), particularly in the context of highly complex questions that require reflective reasoning and non-routine problem-solving skills. This study used a descriptive qualitative approach with a case study design. The research subjects consisted of 32 Grade XI students from Makassar State Senior High School 2 who were selected purposively. The research instruments were a PISA Level 5-based mathematical literacy test and interview guidelines to identify students' thinking processes. Data analysis was conducted through the stages of reduction, presentation, and conclusion drawing based on the Miles and Huberman model, as well as referring to the mathematical literacy framework. Which includes the abilities to formulate, employ, and interpret. The results of the study indicate that most students are still at an intermediate level (Levels 3–4) with a predominance of conceptual and representational errors, particularly in understanding the relationships between variables and converting verbal information into mathematical models. Students with high abilities (such as Banapati Maulana) were able to demonstrate reflective and argumentative thinking processes that reflected Level 5 characteristics, while students with moderate (such as Aura Agni) and low (such as Siti Fatimah) abilities tended to stop at the procedural stage without contextual reflection. These findings confirm that improving students' mathematical literacy requires not only mastery of concepts and procedures, but also practice in reflective, argumentative, and contextual thinking through problem-based and literacy-based learning approaches.

Abstract

This study aims to forecast the stock price of Unilever Indonesia using the Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) model. The dataset consists of weekly stock price data from May 2015 to May 2025, representing a financial time series with nonlinear and dynamic patterns. The LSTM model is employed due to its capability to capture long-term dependencies in sequential data. To evaluate model performance, the dataset is partitioned into three training–testing scenarios, namely 90:10, 80:20, and 70:30. Model accuracy is assessed using the Mean Absolute Percentage Error (MAPE). The results indicate that the best predictive performance is achieved using the 90:10 data split, yielding the lowest MAPE value of 6.973%, which falls into the highly accurate forecasting category. In comparison, the 70:30, and 80:20 scenarios produce higher MAPE values of 13.732% and 17.263% respectively. These findings demonstrate that increasing the proportion of training data significantly improves the performance of the LSTM model in forecasting stock prices. This study highlights the effectiveness of LSTM in modeling financial time series and provides practical insights for data-driven decision-making in stock market analysis.

Abstract

Environmental commodity markets (carbon allowances, electricity, natural gas, and renewable energy instruments) are, at their root, earth system markets: their price-generating processes are as much a product of atmospheric circulation, hydrological regimes, and climate teleconnections as of supply-demand fundamentals or regulatory signals. Despite this physical reality, the machine learning forecasting literature has treated these markets primarily as benchmarking arenas, decoupling predictive architectures from the physical processes that drive price-relevant forcing. This systematic review follows PRISMA 2020 guidelines on a corpus of 413 peer-reviewed studies drawn from 652 Scopus records (2010–2026) and examines how earth system variables, including temperature anomalies, precipitation regimes, wind resource indices, atmospheric pollution metrics, and climate teleconnections such as ENSO and NAO, have been integrated into ML-based environmental commodity price models, and evaluates the evidence for whether physics-informed feature engineering confers measurable accuracy advantages over purely data-driven approaches. Bibliometric analysis reveals rapid field expansion (71.6% of publications in 2021–2026), geographic concentration in Chinese ETS research (?68% of high-impact output), and methodological dominance of hybrid decomposition-deep learning architectures. Models incorporating earth system variables consistently outperform endogenous-only ML architectures by 12–35% on MAPE, yet fewer than 30% of corpus studies include any physical predictor and climate teleconnection indices appear in under 4% of studies despite their relevance at energy market planning horizons. Six research priorities are identified, centred on numerical weather prediction ensemble integration, cross-climate-regime validation, and probabilistic forecasting grounded in physical uncertainty quantification.

Abstract

In the rural economic system, earning a living is not solely the responsibility of men as fathers and husbands; women, as mothers and wives, also play a crucial role. This is evident in Tongketongke Village. This study aims to analyze women's livelihood activities. The methods used in this study were observation and interviews. The results indicate that women's involvement in earning a living in Tongketongke Village significantly impacts household well-being. This income can be used to meet household economic needs, children's school needs, and health needs. Therefore, the income earned by women cannot be categorized as secondary income, but rather serves as a safety valve when their husbands are unemployed, given that their work is irregular or seasonal. In carrying out their activities as breadwinners, women do not neglect their duties as wives and mothers; they continue to fulfill their domestic roles before assuming their public roles
