Abstract

Malaria is caused by a parasite of the genus Plasmodium that is transmitted to humans through the bite of a female Anopheles mosquito. Indonesia is the second highest ranked region in Asia with 214 regencies/cities in Indonesia that are still malaria endemic spread from Sumatra to Papua. Knowledge is one of the important components in preventing malaria transmission. The purpose of this service was to assist and screen for malaria in the context of early detection of malaria in the community and to increase public knowledge about malaria and malaria mosquito vectors. Activities were carried out by providing pretests followed by education and socialization of malaria and early screening of malaria cases with Rapid Diagnostic Test (RDT) examination. Education and socialization events were held at RT 01 Kemelak Baturaja using LCD projector media as well as posters and pamphlets. A total of 83 people attended the counseling event consisting of 37 men and 46 women and 50 people carried out early detection of malaria RDT examination. Pretest results obtained knowledge that was still lacking in knowledge of malaria and malaria vectors by 78% and good knowledge by 22%. There was an increase in knowledge in the posttest held after counseling and education where lack of knowledge was 44% and good knowledge to 56%. On examination with RDT found no positive cases of malaria. Education and socialization in the community about the symptoms of malaria and its vectors can increase awareness of the disease and prevent malaria vector mosquito bites. Therefore, education and assistance are an important part of efforts to prevent and reduce cases that support malaria elimination.

Abstract

One tool that can help eliminate waste is the lean assessment matrix (LAM). LAM is used to reduce waste by calculating the weight of the relationship between waste to obtain waste priorities. Waste prioritization considers assessment of severity, occurrence, interrelationships between waste and impact value. In the previous assessment matrix, calculating the weight of waste relationship values used the Waste Relationship Matrix (WRM) method, but the drawback of this tool was that the number of questions used was too many and the value conversion did not have a standard so it did not make it easy for respondents or human experts to measure the relationship between waste. So, in this research, Waste Assessment Waste Type Weight was developed by integrating the Decision Making Trial And Evaluation. Laboratory (DEMATEL) into LAM. Implementation of the Lean Assessment Matrix modification in the case study resulted in a priority rank of waste, namely Defect waste (W3, W2, W4) and Overprocessing waste (W16 and W15). The results of the LAM tool modifications carried out can help companies determine critical waste more easily and in line with company strategy.

Abstract

Abstract

Extensive and continuous use of pyrethroid insecticides to prevent the transmission of malaria can lead to mutations in the voltage gate sodium channel gene (VGSC) in mosquito vectors. This gene mutation associated with insensitivity pyrethroid is known as knockdown resistance (kdr). The emergence of resistance to pyrethroid insecticides in vector mosquitoes can be a barrier to the successful termination of malaria transmission. Therefore, detection of mutation is necessary to prevent the resistency from build up. The aim of the study was to determine the resistance status of pyrethroid insecticides and identify mutations in the VGSC gene codon 1014 marker for resistance to Anopheles sp. which is a malaria vector in South Sumatra Province. Samples were taken from three districts in South Sumatra: Muara Enim, OKU, and Lahat. The susceptibility enzymatic test of pyrethroid insecticide (permethrin 0.75%) was preliminarily carried out according to WHO 2016 standard on Anopheles vagus Dí¶nitz species. Identification of VGSC gene mutation was performed on all An. vagus that were previously tested for susceptibility and on An. barbirostris van der Wulp species using seminested-PCR and followed by sequencing. The result showed that samples from Muara Enim regency had resistance, whereas in Lahat and OKU regencies were still susceptible to permethrin. From the sequence analysis it is shown that there are no change in DNA kdr bases in VGSC gene insecticide target sites from all regencies. In conclusion, based on molecular studies, there were no pyrethroid insecticide resistance in South Sumatra Province.

Abstract

Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a type of disease that is generally known in society as diabetes. This disease can occur due to an increase in blood sugar levels so that insulin secretion experiences a progressive decrease. Complications of musculoskeletal disorders are one type of DM complication that causes weakness in the leg muscles. Foot exercises are one of the therapies that diabetes mellitus patients can do to overcome foot muscle problems. This foot exercise aims to increase blood circulation so that it can strengthen the leg muscles. If blood circulation is good, nutrition will flow more smoothly to body tissues so that muscle movement is not disturbed. Service activities are carried out through socialization and demonstrations using lectures, discussions and questions and answers. The number of PkM participants who were DM patients was 20 people who were determined using the total sampling method. PkM activities use a pre-test and post-test system with written questions to measure the benefits and increase in knowledge obtained by PkM participants. The results of the service showed that PkM activities through providing foot exercises to DM patients were beneficial in increasing the leg muscle strength of DM patients, where there was an average increase of 1.15 and a p value of 0.000. Apart from that, the level of knowledge of PkM participants regarding foot exercise material for DM patients also experienced an increase in knowledge by 90% or as many as (18 PkM participants) understood the PkM material well.

Abstract

Low back pain (LBP) is characterized by pain, muscle tension, or stiffness localized below the ribs and above the crease of the buttocks, with or without leg pain. It can be categorized as non-specific LBP, a serious condition, or a radicular syndrome. Classifying LBP as acute (lasting less than 6 weeks), sub-acute (6 to 12 weeks), or chronic (more than 12 weeks) can aid in prognosis and guide management. Predictors of persistent disability from LBP include genetics, symptoms, lifestyle, social and psychological factors, and comorbidities. 7 However, no single risk factor is strongly predictive. The mechanisms of action of these risk factors are still unknown, but sleep disturbances and severe stress, for example, may lead to excessive activation of glial cells and thus to low-grade inflammation, leading to central sensitization, i.e. widespread pain. The implementation of community service activities was carried out through notification via the information platform at the village office with a sample of 15 residents in Sidodi Village, Beringin District. It is recommended that residents maintain their health, especially physically, so that, in addition, it is also recommended to continue to pay attention to or apply a healthy daily lifestyle and maintain their physical condition so that they remain healthy.

Abstract

In civil litigation, the phenomenon of judgments that do not reflect the fairness or balance of the litigants undermines justice and legal certainty. Although the legal principle of hearing both parties is a manifestation of balance in judicial procedures, the judge's decision does not provide strict punishment for violations of legal principles, only violations of the code of ethics so that they are often violated in practice. Basically, this process focuses on the truth that will be sought and found for a fair and balanced trial in a civil case. This research uses a qualitative approach, with primary and secondary data sources which will then be analyzed with analytical descriptive techniques to answer legal issues. The results of the study concluded that in principle the judge looks for formal (relative) truth in the evidence presented by the parties, but if the judge is not sure it is okay to make a legal breakthrough by seeking material truth in the evidentiary process at trial to get a fair and balanced verdict. This study recommends that judges should actively seek truth in the civil cases they handle even though civil judges are civil judges in principle
