Abstract

The aims of this study is to know the effectiveness of ethanol extract of red betel leaf (Piper crocatum) against mortality of Boophilus microplus Larvae in Vitro, as well as knowing lethal concentration 50 (LC50) and lethal concentration 90 (LC90). Method that used in the research was completely randomized design. There were five treatments and each treatment was done in five replications. This research used ten Boophilus microplus larvae in each treatment for all replication. The observation and recording of mortality was done at 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 hours. Boophilus microplus larvae were declared dead if there was no movement. The obtained data was analyzed using ANOVA factorial. The result of this research show that ethanol extract of red betel leaf (Piper crocatum) has effectiveness against mortality of Boophlius microplus larvae in Vitro. In the extract 10% concentration, there is effectiveness that almost the same as Noticks®. The higher concentration of the extract, the higher the effectiveness against mortality lavae. In probit analysis show that LC50 achieved by concentration 5,4% or 2.700mg/50ml and LC90 achieved by concentration 11,3% or 5.650mg/50ml.

The samples used in the study were 100 faeces of kampung chicken. using sedimentation and floating method. Faeces samples were tested, than followed by microscopically test to identify the worm is species. The result showed that in 38 out of 100 samples could be indentified some worm species as followed : Capillaria sp.14 (36,8%), Railletina 7 (18,4%), Hymenolepis 16 (42,1%) and Heterakis gallinarum 1 (2,6%). Using Mann Whitney U-test could be differentiated the level of the infection with an average of 45.53 in cock, while in hen with an average of 55.47. There was no significancy (p>0,05) on the level of worm gastrointestinal infection of different sex of kampung chicken.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to determine the prevalence, infection level, sex and age effect on the infection level of GIT Nematode parasite in a horse. The fecal samples analyzed using the methods of native, sedimentation, floatation, and worm eggs count per gram of feces. Sample examination found 54 positive infected gastrointestinal nematode parasite with prevalence rate of 87% (54 from 62). The prevalence of Trichonema sp., Strongylus sp., and Parascaris equorum are 37.1%, 16.1%, and 1.6%. There were also mixed infestation like Strongylus sp. and Trichonema sp; Strongylus sp. and Parascaris equorum; Trichonema sp. and Parascaris equorum with total prevalence 27.4%, 1.6%, and 3.2%. Sex and age of horse had a very significant and significant effect in prevalence and infection level of Nematode parasite.

Abstract

The purpose of this research to know cross reaction of Haemonchus contortus protein with anti-Fasciola gigantica serum by using the Western Blot technique. The result can be used as Haemonchosis serologic diagnostic. This research was conducted using Haemonchus contortus worms obtained from abomasum, especially cow worms and Fasciola gigantica worms obtained from the bile duct and gall bladder. The worms were crushed and added with Phosphate Buffer Saline (PBS) to make homogenates and then centrifuged at 3500 rpm for 15 minutes. Homogenate Fasciola gigantica was immunized to mice to get anti-Fasciola gigantica serum at a dose of 200 μg/mice and booster 3 times with a span of two weeks. Homogenates were carried out using the SDS-PAGE technique to analyze proteins using a brilliant blue dye. Cross reaction of Haemonchus contortus protein with anti-Fasciola gigantica serum byusing Western blot technique and obtained 3 protein bands are 94.9, 52.7, 46.7 kDa.

Abstract

The purpose of this research are to identify and prevalence of ectoparasite infestation in bean goats on the sub-district of Prambon, district of Nganjuk. The research was conducted from September until December 2019 with 115 samples of bean goats. The samples were identified in the Entomology and Protozoology Laboratory of Parasitology Department of the Veterinary Faculty of Airlangga University. This research use non-experimental method with survey study. This research found several kind of extoparasites that infestation bean goats, as follows: Bovicola caprae 24.3% the most infestation in dorsal region, Linognatus africanus 31.2% the most infestation in head-neck and dorsal region, Ctenocepallides felis 4.3%. Mix infestation found B. Caprae and L. Africanus 20.8%, B. Caprae and C. Felis 1%, B. Caprae, L. Africanus and C. Felis 1%. This ectoparasite usually found infestatio in head-neck, ventral, dorsal, inguinal, and ectremites. The prevalence of ectoparasites is 82.6% area at sub-district of Prambon, district of Nganjuk. The data analyzed using Chi-square test and Correspondence test. Statistically is no significant association (p>0.05) between the prevalence of ectoparasites that infested bean goats with types of stage and non-stage eclosure. This caused due to environmental conditions are dirty and many other livestock around the cage.

Abstract

The aim of this study was to determine leukocytes and differential counting in chicken after infected with L2 Toxocra cati. In this study, it was used twenty chickens, wich were 14 weeks old. They were divided into 4 groups. Chickens were infected by orally with dose 0 eggs/ml L2 T. cati, 10 eggs/ml L2 T. cati, 100 eggs/ml L2 T. cati and 1000 eggs/ml L2 T. cati. Blood sampling were conducted on 2, 7 and 21 days after infection. Leukocyte value was determined by improve neubauer and differential counting stained with Wright’s stain then determined using microscope 1000x. The data was analyzed by Anova Factorial and then continued by BNJ Test at 5%. The result showed that increased of leukocytes value and eosinophil at 7 and 21 days after infection L2 T. cati with different dose, increased of leukocytes value and eosinophil on infection dose 10 eggs/ml L2 T. cati, 100 eggs/ml L2 T. cati and 1000 eggs/ml L2 T. cati. It shows that there was not intereraction between time of infection process and infection dose of L2 T. Cati.

Abstract

This research was conducted to determine the anthelmintics effect of peel a pomegranate fruit extract etanol against Ascaridia galli worm in vitro. In this research, using 240 samples of A. galli with length 7-11cm without differentiating sex. The concentration of peel a pomegranate fruit extract etanol for immersing the Ascaridia galli were 10 mg/ml, 20 mg/ml, 40 mg/ml, and 80 mg/ml. Negative control was used PBS. Positif control was used piperazin citrate 10 mg/ml. Observation death A. galli worm and analysis of the data at the 6 hour, 12 hour, 18 hour, 24 hour, 30 hour and 36 hour using ANOVA test and Duncan Range Test. ANOVA result showed significant differences between treatments (p<0,05). Duncan Range Test result showed peel a pomegranate extract etanol 40 mg/ml had anthelmintics effects the 36 hour which comparable with piperazin citrate 10 mg/ml.
