Abstract

Learning process amid the Covid-19 pandemic should run consider appropriate learning materials. This research aimed at investigating teachers’ perception toward the needs of learning materials development for virtual classroom activitis amid Covid-19 pandemic. This research used survey design employing English teachers at senior high schools in several districts in Regency of Rokan Hilir, Riau. There were 36 English teachers participated in the study. The instrument of this study was a questionnaire consisted of 32 questions, with 5 open questions and 27 questions using five-likert scale. The questionnaire asked about perception of teachers toward creativities in teaching, development of material, type of material, and online learning activities. To collect the data, the researchers distributed the questionnaire by Google form, with a support from local English teachers association. In the data analysis, the researchers used descriptive statistics, by presenting Mean, Grand Mean, and Standard Deviation. This study found that the English teachers’ agree to the needs of learning materials development for virtual classroom activities as shown in the grand mean and standard deviation, with 4.02 and 0.647 respectively. It meant that their perceptions were in the level of high category. To conclude, the teachers’ perceptions are in the level of high category toward the needs of Learning Materials Development for Virtual Classroom Activities and they can be the predictors to stimulate teachers’ creativity in using online learning materials.

Abstract

Transformasi digital telah merubah segala sesuatu secara mendasar termasuk untuk bidang pendidikan. Pemanfaatan teknologi digital juga akan memberikan fleksibilitas dan efisiensi bagi layanan terhadap masyarakat. Transformasi digital pada bidang pendidikan ini diantaranya pembelajaran yang diarahkan pada media dan cara yang digital, serta untuk proses memasarkan sekolah (digital marketing) dan menjadikan nama sekolah lebih dikenal atau disebut sebagai school branding. Tak terkecuali untuk PAUD Terpadu Ananda Rantau yang sangat membutuhkan pelatihan, pemahaman, pembuatan, dan pemanfaatan teknik digital marketing untuk school branding dengan alat berupa aplikasi mobile. Sehingga tujuan dari pengabdian ini adalah melaksanakan program pemberdayaan masyarakat dengan pelatihan pembuatan dan pemanfaatan aplikasi berbasis mobile untuk digital marketing pada PAUD Terpadu Ananda Rantau sebagai mitra kami dalam mendukung school branding. Metode yang digunakan dalam pelaksanaan pengabdian ini yaitu analisis masalah mitra, pendekatan/solusi yang ditawarkan kepada mitra, persiapan pelaksanaan kegiatan, pelaksanaan kegiatan, dan evaluasi pelaksanaan kegiatan. Ketika melaksanakan kegiatan dimulai dengan pemaparan materi mengenai konsep digital marketing, school branding, dan aplikasi berbasis mobile untuk kebutuhan PAUD. Berdasarkan hasil evaluasi pelaksanaan pengabdian melalui penyebaran kuesioner dengan jumlah responden sebanyak 23 orang yang menyatakan bahwa 90,8% atau setara dengan 3,95 menyatakan Sangat Setuju bahwa pengabdian melalui pelatihan ini memiliki kebermanfaatan dan dapat mengupayakan untuk menyelesaikan masalah mitra. Selain itu juga mampu meningkatkan pengetahuan, pemahaman, dan kemampuan para guru/pengasuh dan staf terkait pentingnya digital marketing untuk school branding dengan memanfaatkan aplikasi berbasis mobile.

Abstract

Based on observations that have been made in high school in chemistry learning, it can be seen that during learning, teachers do not use technology enough in their learning, teachers still only use media in the form of textbooks, and give assignments, making learning less interesting for students and sometimes making students not understand the content of the material. learning. This research aims to analyze the development of Google Sites web-based learning media developed for chemistry subjects, and the feasibility of the Google Sites web-based learning media developed. The research and development model for Google Sites web-based learning media uses the ADDIE learning model. This research uses non-test instruments, non-test instruments in the form of validation sheets that meet BSNP standards, namely aspects of appropriateness of content, presentation, language and graphics by a four-category scale validator. The validation feasibility results show that the development of Google Sites web learning media on ionic and covalent bond material is in the valid category. It can be concluded that the Google Sites web-based learning media on ionic and covalent bonds for class X high school is feasible and does not need to be revised.

Abstract

Stoichiometry is often considered challenging by students, as reflected in their low learning outcomes. This study aims to examine the impact of the Cooperative Learning model, specifically the STAD type, on students' motivation and learning outcomes in stoichiometry. The research utilized a quantitative method with a one group pretest-posttest design. Research instruments included a learning outcomes test and a motivation questionnaire. The findings revealed that this learning model significantly enhanced students' motivation and learning outcomes compared to conventional methods. Students in the experimental class demonstrated active participation in group activities and higher motivation, resulting in better academic performance. Abstract

This research investigated students' participation patterns and the factors affecting them in non-skill lessons in EFL (English as a Foreign Language) lessons with discussion as the primary method. Understanding engagement in these lessons is crucial for enhancing classroom interaction and achieving learning objectives. A descriptive qualitative approach was employed, involving 34 fifth-semester students from an English Language Education program. Data were collected through twelve non-participation observations (examining participants' behaviour in different sessions based on Liu's theory) and a Guttmann scale questionnaire adapted from Hamouda assessing factors affecting participation. The observations revealed four participation patterns: marginal interaction (38.2%), silence observation (35.3%), conditional participation (18.7%), and full integration (11.8%). While the questionnaire identified language competence and psychological factors as two key factors influencing participation. The findings showed that students in full integration and conditional participation categories (30.5%) engaged more when having confidence in their vocabulary. In comparison, students in marginal interaction and silence observation categories (73.5%) were more hesitant due to concerns with grammar and a fear of making mistakes. Psychologically, full integration students were concerned with adverse outcomes, whereas those in marginal and silent categories struggled with shyness, low confidence, and uncertainty. This study contributes by exploring how linguistic and psychological factors shape participation, specifically in non-skill lessons in EFL. The findings suggest that teachers should foster supportive, low-pressure environments to encourage student engagement in addition to improving language competence. Curriculum designers can focus on activities that promote vocabulary development and confidence-building exercises to enhance participation in such lessons.

Abstract

The rapid advancement of digital image processing technology is expected to facilitate human life in various aspects of life. This study aims to detect and determine the distance of a barrier object based on the detection of lines emitted by a line laser light beam using the Matlab programming language with the pixel distance calculation method. The pixel distance calculation method is used to detect lines in an image that is processed by looking at the consistency of the laser lines. This study uses a box as an object to determine the presence of obstructions from an image captured by a camera. In this study, the parameters of distance, camera angle, and line laser angle are used. Research data collection was carried out in the afternoon in a closed room with a light intensity of 10 lux. An object can be said to be a barrier if in an image there is a laser line that is broken or not at the same pixel position. However, if in an image there are consistent lines or no line changes, then the image can be said to have no barriers. Based on the evaluation of the distance accuracy calculation with data collection, it can actually be concluded that the distance accuracy when taking data is above 85%.

Abstract

Rice husks are a waste that is often found, containing 50% cellulose and 25-30% lignin so it has the potential to be used as an absorbent material. Therefore, rice husks can be used to make active carbon. The carbon activation process using HCl is preferred because compared to other acids, carbon activated with HCl shows better adsorption capacity. Chitosan comes from chitin found in crustaceans such as crabs. The crab shells are then processed to obtain chitosan. This research aims to produce rice husk adsorbent coated with nanochitosan from crab shells. Characterization in this study used FTIR which showed the presence of N-H groups as a characteristic of chitosan at a wavelength of 3354.42 cm-1. PSA analysis shows nano-sized chitosan with a size of 58.15 nm. Coating rice husk activated carbon with crab shell chitosan has produced a suitable adsorbent and can be used for further testing..

Abstract

Elementary school students' difficulties in understanding mathematics are often exacerbated by the minimal use of interactive learning media. The use of media such as Wordwall, which combines educational games, is considered to be able to increase student engagement and support a more enjoyable learning process. This study aims to determine the effect of Wordwall on improving elementary school students' mathematics learning outcomes. The method used is a qualitative literature review with the PRISMA approach. From the results of searching 100 articles, 18 articles were selected that met the criteria: relevant to mathematics learning in elementary school, published in scientific journals in the last five years, and focused on the use of Wordwall. The results of the study showed that Wordwall was effective in improving elementary school students' understanding of concepts and mathematics learning outcomes. Thus, Wordwall can be an appropriate alternative media to support interactive and meaningful mathematics learning in elementary school.

Abstract

Menurut Word Health Organization (WHO), dilaporkan sebanyak 390 juta demam dengue dengan 96 juta setiap tahunnya dilaporkan mengalami manifestasi klinis DBD. Kasus DBD naik setiap tahun dimana terjadi kenaikan 8 kali lebih banyak dalam 20 tahun terakhir dengan 505.430 kasus di tahun 2000 jadi 4,2 juta kasus di tahun 2019. Kematian akibat penyakit ini juga meningkat 4 kali lipat dari tahun 2015 dengan 960 kematian menjadi 4.032 kematian pada tahun 2019. Penelitian ini termasuk jenis penelitian survei analitik dengan pendekatan cross sectional. Penelitian ini telah dilakukan di Rumah Sakit Tingkat II Iskandar Muda Banda Aceh pada tanggal 14 Agutus - 18 Agustus tahun 2023. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh pasien di poli penyakit dalam sebanyak 503 orang. Adapun teknik yang digunakan dalam pengambilan sampel adalah secara accidental sampling sehingga sampel dalam penelitian ini sebanyak 35 orang. Analisa data dalam penelitian ini yaitu analisa univariat dan bivariat dengan menggunakan uji statistik chi square. hasil penelitian peneliti terhadap 35 responden, didapatkan p-value = 0,010 artinya nilai α = < 0,05 sehingga ada hubungan sanitasi lingkungan dengan kejadian demam berdarah deungue pada pasien di poli Rumah Sakit Tingkat II Iskandar Muda Banda Aceh. Diharapakn kepada seluruh masyarakat dengan diketahuinya faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi kejadian DBD akan menjadi masukan bagi masyarakat, sehingga dapat diambil langkah-langkah yang tepat untuk meningkatkan Derajat kesehatan dan terbebas dari penyakit DBD.Kata kunci: Sanitasi lingkungan, Demam Berdarah DengueAccording to the World Health Organization (WHO), as many as 390 million dengue fevers are reported, with 96 million each year reported to experience clinical manifestations of dengue fever. The technique used in sampling was accidental sampling so that the sample in this study was 35 people. Data analysis in this research is univariate and bivariate analysis using the chi square statistical test. The results of the researcher's research on 35 respondents, obtained p-value = 0.010, meaning the α value = <0.05, so there is a relationship between environmental sanitation and the incidence of deungue hemorrhagic fever in patients at the Iskandar Muda Level II Hospital Polyclinic in Banda Aceh. It is hoped that the entire community by knowing the factors that influence the incidence of dengue fever will provide input for the community, so that appropriate steps can be taken to improve the level of health and be free from dengue fever.Keywords: Environmental sanitation, Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever

Abstract

The workshop on using technology applications as a learning medium for MTs Al-Ittihad teachers was based on the problem identified by the Postgraduate School Faculty service team, Universitas Lancang Kuning, namely the lack of knowledge about digital literacy in contemporary learning. For this reason, training in using technology applications in learning should be provided. This workshop was held in May 2023 at MTs Al-Ittihad School with 20 participants for 4 hours. To measure the level of teacher understanding, the service team provided questionnaires in the sessions before and after activities. The results of the pre-test regarding the use of technology applications namely ChatGPT, Vocaroo, and Tricider, showed that 93% -100% of the participants did not know about these technology applications. However, after the training was given, the results of the post test showed that 100% of the participants understood and could use the learning technology applications provided. Finally, the service team concluded that teachers really need knowledge about ICT empowerment in order to improve the achievement of learning outcomes. Workshop penggunaan aplikasi teknologi sebagai media pembelajaran bagi guru MTs Al-Ittihad ini dilaksanakan berdasarkan masalah yang diidentifikasi oleh tim pengabdian Fakultas Sekolah Pascasarjana Universitas Lancang Kuning yaitu kurangnya pengetahuan tentang literasi digital dalam pembelajaran kekinian. Untuk itu, pelatihan menggunakan aplikasi teknologi dalam pembelajaran diberikan. Kegiatan workshop ini dilaksanakan pada bulan Mei 2023 di Sekolah MTs Al- Ittihad dengan 20 peserta selama 4 jam. Untuk mengukur tingkat pemahaman guru pada kegiatan pelatihan ini, tim pelaksana pengabdian memberikan angket pada sesi sebelum dan sesudah kegiatan workshop. Hasil angket pre-test dari penggunaan aplikasi teknologi sebagai media pembelajaran yaitu ChatGPT, Vocaroo, dan Tricider yang diberikan menunjukkan 93%-100% dari peserta belum mengetahui aplikasi teknologi tersebut. Namun, setelah pelatihan diberikan, hasil angket post test menunjukkan 100% peserta memahami dan dapat menggunakan aplikasi teknologi pembelajaran yang diberikan. Akhirnya, tim pengabdian menyimpulkan bahwa guru-guru memang memerlukan pengetahuan tentang pemberdayaan TIK dalam rangka meningkatkan pencapaian hasil belajar.
