Abstract

The intersection of religious freedom as a right or obligation still requires in-depth study, where the state should be present in providing certainty regarding this matter. The formulation of the problem of this research is first, whether religious freedom also includes the freedom not to have a religion. Second, how is the positioning of religious freedom in Indonesia according to Pancasila and the constitution. The research method used in this study is qualitative descriptive based on postpositivism and is used to examine the intersection of religious freedom in real conditions using literature studies such as books, scientific journals and scientific articles. The conclusion of this study is that religious freedom is actually a basic right that cannot be reduced under any circumstances, especially in the forum internum. However, its validity in Indonesia becomes an obligation when it is based on Pancasila and the constitution of legislation which indicates that Indonesia is a God-fearing country. Thus, a middle ground can be taken in terms of the placement of religious freedom based on the principles of justice and applicable positive law.

Abstract

Citizenship is an issue that will remain as long as there is an institution called the state. Therefore, citizenship problems will always exist as long as the concept of the state still exists. Citizenship Education (PKn) is one way to overcome or reduce citizenship problems. So, junior high schools (SMP) make citizenship a mandatory curriculum content. This research aims to analyze current Civics and future Civics using SWOT analysis. For this reason, a qualitative approach was used with the literature review method. As a result, 23 studies based on the criteria were selected as data sources. Several themes emerge regarding Civics currently, namely 1) citizenship education in a Merdeka curriculum, 2) problems of citizenship education, and 3) solutions to problems of citizenship education. Meanwhile, the subject of citizenship education will be discussed in the future. However, although it has advantages and opportunities, it still has shortcomings and challenges ranging from less interesting learning, lack of teacher competence, current developments, radicalism, even misinformation (hoaxes), shortcomings, opportunities, and challenges in teaching citizenship to middle school students. Therefore, there is a need for tactical strategies to optimize opportunities and reduce obstacles and challenges for civics at the junior high school level.

Abstract

This study examines the representation of Islamic identity in Indonesian horror films from the 1980s to the 2020s. Employing an interpretive qualitative method, this study analyzes selected horror films from each decade to uncover patterns of change in the portrayal of Islamic identity through narrative, symbolism, and character depiction. The findings reveal three key trends: first, during the 1980s and 1990s, Islamic identity was prominently depicted through characters such as Kiai or Ustaz, who served as exorcists. Second, in the 2000s, representations of Islamic identity diminished, replaced by themes of secularism and eroticism. Third, in the 2020s, Islamic identity re-emerged more explicitly, with stronger Islamic themes present in both storylines and visual symbols. These findings suggest that the portrayal of Islam in Indonesian horror films reflects not only the socio-cultural dynamics of society but also market strategies aimed at appealing to a predominantly Muslim audience. This research contributes to interdisciplinary studies on Islam, popular culture, and Indonesian film while paving the way for further inquiries into the relationship between religion and mass media.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the contribution of the PBB training (PBB) in the Scouting activities to the formation of self-discipline and character of students at the Junior High School (SMP) level. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation studies. The results of the study indicate that the implementation of PBB is able to instill the values of discipline, responsibility, leadership, cooperation, and self-regulation in students. This activity also has a positive impact on student behavior outside of Scouting activities, including in academics and socially. This finding strengthens that PBB training is not just a physical activity, but an effective and contextual character education strategy in supporting the goals of the Merdeka Curriculum and the formation of the Pancasila Student Profile. Therefore, this activity needs to be continuously developed and supported as an integral part of the character building program in schools.

Abstract

Radicalism remains a latent ideology capable of growing and developing in various settings,  including higher education institutions. This study explores the phenomenon of radicalization  among University students, emphasizing the infiltration of radical ideologies and the role of  Islamic education lecturers in countering this trend. The research employs a qualitative approach,  utilizing in-depth interviews conducted over three months with lecturers from seven universities in  East Java, Indonesia. The findings reveal that while numerous studies have labeled universities as  breeding grounds for radicalism, the situation in the field indicates a more nuanced reality.  Radicalization on campuses persists, yet efforts to counteract it through religious and national  identity revitalization have been effective. Islamic education lecturers play a critical role in  fostering religious moderation, promoting Islam Rahmatan lil ‘Alamin, and restructuring campus  mosques to prevent infiltration by radical preachers. This study underscores the importance of  strengthening national and religious awareness in university settings to mitigate the spread of  radicalism. It also highlights the need for institutional policies and community engagement to  sustain deradicalization efforts. The findings contribute to the broader discourse on counter radicalization in higher education and offer practical implications for educational institutions and  policymakers in fostering inclusive and tolerant academic environments.

Abstract

Empowerment for Indonesian Migrant Workers (PMI) in South Korea can be focused on protection during their employment. PMIs in South Korea have access to a fairly well-established legal system, but many have not been able to make optimal use of it due to a lack of understanding, language barriers, and limited support. Through empowerment in legal protection, the rights of PMIs can be better safeguarded. In addition, local communities play a vital role in creating a fair and safe working environment for PMIs. The target partners of this community service activity, a collaboration among Indonesian Teacher Education Institutes (LPTK), are groups of PMIs located in Daejeon City, South Korea. The activities took place at Annoor Mosque in Daejeon. The objectives of this community service initiative are to:(1) strengthen understanding and awareness of PMI rights, such as minimum wage, working hours, and holidays;(2) enhance protection for PMIs in South Korea; (3) reinforce solidarity between PMIs, the service team, and the targeted PMI partners. The outcomes of the activities have met the targets, which include: (1) positive responses from the target partners regarding the materials and activities conducted; (2) issuance of a copyright certificate; (3) media publication; and (4) an Implementation Agreement.

The development of village digitalization is an important strategy in building the foundation of a Smart Village, a paradigm of rural development that is innovative, connected, and technology-based. The Community Service Program (PKM) in Banjarsari Village, Jombang, aims to (1) identify the challenges of village digitalization, (2) design solutions for digital transformation, and (3) develop a digital village application as a medium for public services and community empowerment. The method used was Participatory Action Research (PAR) with stages of diagnosis, mapping, action, observation, and reflection. The results of the program include the development of the banjarsari.desabaik.id application, training for village officials, and digitalization socialization to the community. Evaluation shows that the majority of training participants felt more familiar with the concept of digitalization, gained a better understanding of the benefits of technology, and increased their confidence in using the application and the village’s social media. This program has proven effective in improving administrative services, transparency, and local economic potential. Nevertheless, challenges such as limited internet infrastructure and resistance from some community members still need to be addressed through continuous mentoring. The results of this PKM indicate that village digitalization is a strategic step toward inclusive, adaptive, and competitive rural development
