Abstract

This study aims to develop and validate an Arduino-based system for monitoring water quality using NodeMCU ESP8266 to measure Total Dissolved Solids (TDS), Electrical Conductivity (EC), and water temperature in fish farming in buckets (Budikdamber). Budikdamber monitoring has never been done in real-time with TDS–EC–temperature at the same time, as well as analyzing the influence of fish density variations on water quality dynamics. ADDIE's development model is used through the stages of analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. The prototype was validated and calibrated with standard instruments, and its accuracy was tested using Pearson, MAE, RMSE, and MAPE correlation. The results showed a high measurement agreement between the prototype and the standard tool, with Pearson correlation values of 0.907 (TDS), 0.973 (EC), and 0.936 (temperature), respectively, signifying the high validity and precision of the measurements. Regression equations result in an effective calibration model to correct measurement bias. water- quality dynamics & density effect to Observations of various fish densities indicate that an increase in the number of fish increases TDS, EC, and pH fluctuations and also affects the thermal characteristics of the water. Regression analysis showed that fish density was a strong predictor of increased TDS (R² = 0.9098) and EC (R² = 0.8988). The study concluded that the prototype is feasible to be used for real-time monitoring and that the ideal density of Budikdamber ranges from 55 to 70 heads per 80-liter bucket to maintain water quality stability. Water management: the safest and optimal time to change pool water is in the afternoon, around 5:30–7:00 PM, with a waiting period of 4-5 days, offering a scalable physics-based monitoring framework for micro-aquaponics systems

Abstract

Indonesia has a diversity of medicinal plants that are used by the community to treat various diseases. Indonesian people often experience skin problems caused by fungi. The high number of cases of fungal diseases is due to the high air humidity in the tropics, thus supporting the growth of fungi that cause skin infections. This study examines the phytochemical content and antifungal activity of Baccaurea lanceolata (lempaung) plants. The parts of lempaung used as samples are the stem bark and fruit flesh. Samples were taken in Bioa Sengok Village, Rimbo Pengadang District, Lebong Regency. Antifungal testing was conducted at the Chemistry Education Laboratory and Microbiology Laboratory of Bengkulu University (UNIB) from January to June 2022. Antifungal activity testing uses the disc diffusion method by immersing the disc into the ethanol extract of lempaung. The test fungi used were C. albicans, M. furfur, and T. mentagrophytes. The results of phytochemical tests showed that the stem bark and fruit flesh samples of lempaung contained alkaloids, flavonoids, tannins, saponins, steroids, and terpenoids. The antifungal activity test results showed that the samples had inhibition against C. albicans, M. furfur, and T. mentagrophytes.

Abstract

The photovoltaic experiment provided a simple, affordable method to determine Planck’s constant through empirical learning. This experiment allowed students to present concrete data using easily available, low-cost materials. The experiment utilised a photovoltaic method, employing a simple, self-designed setup that used three laser pointers with wavelengths of 650nm (red), 535nm (green), and 405nm (blue) as independent variables. A 6V, 1W mini solar cell was used as the target, while the speed of light and electron charge were treated as control variables. The laser pointers were powered by a 3V battery. The data were analysed by plotting the relationship between 1/λ (inverse wavelength) and the measured voltage as the dependent variable. A linear regression analysis was performed to obtain the gradient, which was used to calculate Planck’s constant. The experiment yielded a calculated Planck’s constant of 7.09×10-35Js, with a deviation of 5.69 x 10-34Js, resulting in a relative error of 8.89%. This relative error could be attributed to several factors, including refraction effects caused by the glass layer and adhesive used to protect the semiconductor plate of the solar cell, as well as discrepancies between the actual wavelengths of the laser beams and the labelled wavelengths on the laser pointers.

Abstract

Cu₂ZnSnS₄ thin films were successfully deposited on soda lime glass substrates using the DC Magnetron Sputtering method at a plasma power of 42 W, an argon gas pressure of 500 mTorr, and deposition temperatures ranging from 27 °C to 400 °C for 7 hours, using a Cu₂ZnSnS₄ target with 99% purity. The effect of varying temperatures was characterized by using X-ray Diffraction (XRD) to determine the film structure, Scanning Electron Microscopy with Energy Dispersive X-ray Spectroscopy (SEM-EDX) to analyze morphology and composition, and UV-Vis-NIR spectrophotometry to evaluate optical properties. Film composition showed non-stoichiometric characteristics, with elemental ranges of Cu (20.66–32.81) %, Zn (14.08–25.67) %, Sn (21.87–37.05) %, and S (25.42–31.22) %. All samples exhibited a Cu/(Zn+Sn) ratio of less than 1, indicating Cu-poor compositions typical of p-type semiconductors. XRD analysis revealed that the formation of the Cu₂ZnSnS₄ phase began at a deposition temperature of 100 °C, while stable kesterite Cu₂ZnSnS₄ crystals were obtained at 400 °C, corresponding to the (112) crystal plane. The absorption coefficients and band gap energies ranged from 10⁴ to 10⁵ cm ¹ and from 1.34 to 2.175 eV, respectively, confirming the suitability of the films for solar cell applications. SEM observations indicated that higher deposition temperature promoted more successful grain growth. Overall, higher deposition temperatures yield better Cu₂ZnSnS₄ thin films.
