Abstract

Teacher burnout is a pervasive challenge in education, negatively affecting both educators’ well-being and student outcomes. Psychological capital, encompassing hope, self-efficacy, resilience, and optimism, has emerged as a critical protective factor against occupational stress. Understanding how specific components of psychological capital influence burnout can inform interventions aimed at promoting teacher well-being and sustaining instructional effectiveness. This study investigates the role of hope, self-efficacy, and resilience in preventing burnout among educators in primary and secondary schools. A quantitative research design was employed, involving 150 teachers selected through stratified random sampling. Participants completed standardized questionnaires measuring psychological capital dimensions and burnout levels. Statistical analyses, including correlation and multiple regression, were conducted to examine predictive relationships. Findings indicate that higher levels of hope, self-efficacy, and resilience are significantly associated with lower burnout scores. Among the components, self-efficacy exhibited the strongest protective effect, followed by resilience and hope. The study concludes that cultivating psychological capital is essential for mitigating teacher burnout, enhancing professional commitment, and promoting sustainable teaching practices.

Abstract

The moral crisis in primary education—marked by declining empathy, increased student conflict, and the dominance of academic achievement—necessitates curriculum innovation grounded in affective values. This study aims to describe the implementation of the Kurikulum Cinta (Curriculum of Love) as a character-strengthening model at SDIT Cahaya Hati Pedan, focusing on teachers’ understanding, implementation strategies, encountered challenges, and its impact on student behavior. Employing a qualitative case study design, the research involved five teachers as participants through semi-structured interviews, observation, and analysis of instructional documents. Data were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model, involving systematic stages of data reduction, display, and verification. The findings indicate that all teachers understand the Kurikulum Cinta as a humanistic approach emphasizing compassion, empathy, and respect for students. Implementation strategies include affective, non-punitive methods such as advice, rewards, positive touch, and motivation. Major challenges stem from internal student factors (60%), such as low learning motivation and social conflict, and external factors (40%), including teacher limitations, parenting styles, and gadget dependency. Nevertheless, 80% of teachers reported positive behavioral changes among students, including increased empathy, harmony, care, and enthusiasm for learning, while 20% observed gradual shifts toward responsible behavior. These findings suggest that the Kurikulum Cinta is effective in enhancing character education, although its success requires the support of a cohesive ecosystem involving families, schools, and aligned digital policies.

Abstract

This qualitative case study investigated the integration of Pancasila Student Profile values within history education at SMA Negeri Kolese Pendidikan Guru Khas Papua Merauke, a specialized teacher-training institution in Indonesia's remote eastern region. Data were collected through participant observation, semi-structured interviews with school principals, history teachers, and curriculum developers, and documentary analysis of lesson plans, student portfolios, and instructional materials. Findings revealed that deliberate pedagogical strategies—including project-based learning, role play, case studies, and reflective discussions—successfully cultivated mutual cooperation, global diversity, critical reasoning, and nationalism dimensions among students. History education effectively functioned as a character formation vehicle when contextualized within Papua's multicultural reality and linked to contemporary issues. However, independence and creativity dimensions remained underdeveloped due to persistent reliance on teacher direction. Implementation faced significant barriers including insufficient instructional time, resource limitations, transmission-oriented teaching habits, student focus on exam scores rather than character development, and inadequate parental support. The study demonstrates that effective character education in marginalized regions requires curriculum restructuring prioritizing depth over coverage, enhanced teacher professional development, increased resource investment, and systematic family-school collaboration. These findings contribute empirical evidence regarding national character education framework adaptation for diverse sociocultural contexts while advancing theoretical understanding of contextualized character education in remote, underserved educational settings.

Abstract

In the era of globalization and rapid technological development, holistic education balancing academic and non-academic achievements has become essential for developing 21st-century learners. However, many schools, particularly in remote areas, struggle to develop students' non-academic potential due to various constraints. This study analyzed the challenges, strategies, and impacts of school principal leadership in improving students' non-academic achievements at SMAN 2 Merauke and SMAN Plus Urum in Merauke Regency, Indonesia. A qualitative descriptive approach was employed, with data collected through semi-structured interviews, non-participatory observations, and documentary analysis. Participants included school principals, vice principals, teachers, students, and school committee representatives from both institutions. Data were analyzed using the Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña model, with credibility maintained through source and method triangulation. Findings revealed that both schools faced multidimensional challenges including human resource limitations, inadequate facilities and infrastructure, budget constraints, low student participation, and minimal external support. Challenges were substantially more severe at SMAN Plus Urum due to its remote location. Principals implemented adaptive strategies including internal capacity building through peer learning and student mentorship, creative facility optimization, selective activity prioritization with transparent budget management, recognition-based motivation systems, and gradual community engagement. These strategies generated positive impacts on teacher professional development, student character formation (confidence, discipline, resilience), enhanced school reputation, and emerging community support for holistic education. Effective leadership in resource-constrained contexts requires adaptive, creative, and collaborative approaches that maximize existing capabilities while gradually building external support networks. The study contributes to understanding educational leadership in developing country contexts and provides practical insights for principals facing similar challenges.

Abstract

The growing body of research on creativity has traditionally highlighted its positive contributions to innovation and problem-solving, yet recent studies suggest that creativity may also facilitate unethical behavior. This study investigates the “dark side” of creativity by examining how creative potential and creative self-efficacy relate to morally questionable decision-making in organizational contexts. The research aims to clarify whether creativity inherently increases individuals’ capacity to rationalize misconduct or whether situational factors moderate this relationship. A mixed-method design was employed, combining a quantitative survey of 312 employees from diverse professional sectors with qualitative vignette-based interviews to probe moral reasoning processes. The findings indicate that higher creativity scores correlate with greater justification of rule-bending behaviors, particularly when individuals perceive ethical norms as ambiguous or organizational climates as permissive. However, creativity did not uniformly predict unethical actions; rather, the effect was contingent upon motivational orientations and moral disengagement tendencies. The study concludes that creativity is a dual-edged construct—capable of generating both adaptive and maladaptive outcomes—highlighting the need for ethical scaffolding in creative work environments. These insights contribute to a more nuanced understanding of creativity beyond its celebrated positive dimensions.

Abstract

Low student motivation in history learning is a challenge for teachers. History lessons aim to foster a spirit of nationalism and shape students' character. Conventional and monotonous learning is one of the causes. To address this challenge, innovative methods are needed in utilizing learning resources. The Tjilik Riwut House Cultural Heritage in Palangkaraya City has the potential for historical character value that can be integrated as a source of history learning, especially local history. This study aims to explore the Tjilik Riwut house as a source of local history and character values from Tjilik Riwut in 21st-century learning. This research is included in qualitative research using observation, interview, and documentation techniques. Data is also supported by archives, site profiles, photographs and relevant documents. The collected data is then reduced by sorting the data to find truly valid data. After the reduction stage, the data presentation stage is carried out including a structured summary of the framework of thought which will later lead to the final stage of conclusion. The results show that the Tjilik Riwut house cultural heritage has the potential as a local historical source containing data on the life journey of Mr. Tjik Riwut and his role in defending the Palangkaraya region from the Dutch. Character education can be learned through the struggle of Mr. Tjilik Riwut. The novelty of this research lies in the use of the Tjilik house as a source of local history learning. The conclusion of the study confirms that the use of the Tjilik Riwut house cultural heritage as a local historical source is effective in fostering a spirit of nationalism, responsibility, social obedience, and pluralism among high school students in Palangkaraya City. Abstract

Abstract

This research aims to examine the meaning of higher education as the path of human nature from the wasathiyah perspective, focusing on its relevance in the context of socio-economic changes in coastal communities. The background of this research is based on the strong patriarchal views that limit the role of women in Higher education, a narrow understanding of destiny, and low participation in Higher education among coastal communities. This research uses a qualitative approach based on a literature study to analyze the concept of higher education as the path of fitrah from an Islamic perspective and its relevance to contemporary issues. The analysis was conducted on primary literature (the Qur'an and hadith) as well as secondary literature in the form of books, articles, research reports, and data from relevant institutions such as BPS, Kemendikbud, and UNESCO. The results show that Higher education is seen as a form of actualization of human nature, which is endowed with the potential of reason, heart, and instinct to develop. The concept of hair and destiny in Islam encourages maximum efforts in studying, including for women and marginalized communities. The findings confirm that Higher education is a strategic necessity in the face of socio-economic changes in coastal communities, which are now affected by the ecological crisis, limited natural resources, and the demands of globalization. This research contributes to enriching the understanding of the importance of Higher education as part of the mission of human creation in Islam. Research recommendations include the need to strengthen educational literacy programs in coastal communities, synergies between pesantren, universities, and local governments, and the development of an inclusive fitrah-based curriculum.

Abstract

The internalization of the values of tasamuh (tolerance) and syura (consultation) is an integral part of the academic culture that Islamic higher education institutions seek to build. However, there is still a gap between the idealism of the institutional vision and the reality of student social practices in campus life. This study aims to analyze the implementation of a socio-religious approach in the internalization of the values of tasamuh (tolerance) and syura (consultation) within the campus environment of IAI Tarbiyatut Tholabah Lamongan. This study employs a descriptive qualitative method with a phenomenological approach. Data were collected through participatory observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation, and analyzed using the interactive model of Miles and Huberman. The results of the study indicate that efforts to internalize the values of tasamuh and syura have been carried out through the educational curriculum, student organization activities, and character development. However, there are still challenges in applying these values, such as group polarization, resistance to dialogue, and uneven involvement from the academic community. These findings differ from previous studies, which tended to emphasize the formal aspects of the curriculum without delving deeply into the social dynamics of students. This study contributes theoretically and practically to the development of more contextual strategies for internalizing Islamic values, and recommends strengthening the culture of consultation and collaborative training across campus elements.
