Abstract

Early childhood talent exploration by Early Childhood Education (ECED) teachers is an essential challenge in optimizing children's future potential. However, teachers' methods are often insufficiently structured, with constraints regarding training, limited time, and resources. This study aims to explore the methods used by ECD teachers in researching children's talents and the constraints they face in implementing these strategies. The technique used was a qualitative approach with a case study involving in-depth interviews with 10 teachers and observations in three PAUD institutions. The results show that spontaneous observation, project-based activities, and standardized evaluation tools are the primary methods teachers implement. However, most teachers face constraints regarding lack of training, limited time, and inadequate resources. To improve the effectiveness of talent acquisition, this study suggests the importance of continuous training, increased resources, and the application of more systematic evaluation methods. The findings contribute to the development of early childhood education theory and practice and point to the need for policies that support the development of teachers' skills in identifying and developing children's talents.

Abstract

The limited academic writing skills of undergraduate students often hinder their ability to produce coherent, critical, and argumentative scholarly work. The lack of adaptive interventions in writing instruction further exacerbates this challenge, particularly in the digital era that demands the integration of technology. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of ChatGPT in enhancing students’ academic writing quality, explore students’ perceptions of its use, and examine the emerging ethical implications. Employing a mixed-methods design, the study involved 114 undergraduate students who participated in AI-assisted writing training. Data were collected through writing tests (pre-test and post-test), closed-ended questionnaires, and open-ended interviews. Research instruments included an academic writing rubric and a Likert-scale perception survey. Data analysis was conducted using paired t-tests for quantitative data and thematic analysis for qualitative data. The findings revealed a significant improvement of 29.2% in students’ academic writing performance. Furthermore, 92% of respondents perceived ChatGPT as effective in supporting idea development and paragraph organization. However, concerns were also raised, with 65% reporting potential dependency and 48% struggling to distinguish between AI generated content and their own work. These results indicate that ChatGPT has the potential to serve as an innovative learning tool in academic writing, yet its application requires appropriate pedagogical strategies and regulatory frameworks to minimize ethical risks in higher education.

Abstract

Participatory planning in community-based education is increasingly recognized as a critical strategy to advance equity, learner agency, and context-sensitive program development. This study systematically synthesizes empirical and theoretical literature to examine how participatory planning is conceptualized, implemented, and evaluated in diverse community education contexts. Using a systematic literature review, 35 peer-reviewed articles published between 2000 and 2025 were analyzed from Scopus database. Studies were selected based on defined inclusion criteria, and key data were thematically reviewed to identify patterns in participatory strategies, enabling conditions, and educational outcomes. The findings reveal that participatory planning enhances curricular relevance, democratic governance, and social inclusion, especially when embedded in authentic and culturally responsive processes. It aligns educational practices with community priorities, strengthens stakeholder collaboration, and fosters long-term program sustainability. However, its effectiveness is often constrained by structural challenges, including institutional rigidity, uneven power dynamics, and limited facilitator capacity. The review highlights that the success of participatory planning is context-dependent and relational, requiring deliberate adaptation and sustained institutional support. This study advances an integrative framework linking forms of participation with educational impact and contributes a cross-contextual synthesis to the literature. It affirms the potential of participatory planning to democratize education and calls for further research into digital innovations, long-term outcomes, and governance-sensitive implementation.

Abstract

This study explores how social-emotional development in early childhood can be meaningfully enhanced through a culturally grounded, play-based extracurricular program. Specifically, it examines the impact of Prasiaga, a structured scouting-inspired model, on improving emotional regulation, autonomy, peer collaboration, empathy, and emerging leadership among children enrolled in a formal early childhood institution. Using an explanatory sequential mixed methods approach, this research was conducted at a playgroup center in Indonesia with ten participants. Quantitative data were collected through pre- and post-intervention observations across nine indicators of social-emotional competence. Qualitative data were gathered via educator interviews and visual documentation to contextualize and deepen understanding of behavioral changes. The results demonstrate a substantial increase in the emergence of targeted competencies, rising from 28.9% before the intervention to 85.6% afterward. Children showed marked gains in confidence, task independence, peer engagement, and affective expression. Educators reported improvements in classroom dynamics, including higher learner motivation and spontaneous collaborative behaviors. While leadership indicators improved modestly, subtle expressions of initiative suggest developmental momentum requiring sustained practice. The triangulation of quantitative, narrative, and visual data affirms the reliability and educational significance of these findings. This research provides empirical validation for integrating Prasiaga within national early childhood curricula. The findings position Prasiaga not as a supplementary activity but as a vital foundation for character education in early learning. By emphasizing moral formation, interactive play, and culturally resonant pedagogy, the program supports both immediate behavioral improvements and long-term developmental resilience. Future research should investigate longitudinal outcomes and program scalability to inform policy and practice in broader contexts.

Abstract

This study addresses the lack of a standard framework for implementing the Quran memorization program and examines how a quality management approach can enhance learning outcomes in Islamic education. This study aims to analyze the implementation of Total Quality Management (TQM) in improving the effectiveness of the Quran memorization program in Islamic boarding schools. This study employs a qualitative approach, utilizing a case study design, where data are collected through document analysis, structured observations, and in-depth interviews with teachers, administrators, and parents. Thematic analysis identified three main areas of TQM implementation in learning practices: personalized memorization strategies, periodic evaluation, and collaborative engagement between stakeholders. The results showed that memorization methods that are tailored to students’ learning preferences can improve motivation and retention. Continuous evaluation and collaboration between teachers help create more responsive learning. The use of simple progress tracking tools also supports curriculum monitoring and improvement. These findings suggest that implementing basic TQM principles in the Quran memorization program can improve instructional consistency and learning outcomes, even in Islamic institutions with limited resources. This study presents a practical model for integrating quality management in religious-based education, offering opportunities for further empirical research.
