Abstract

The coconut plantation area on the banks of the Undan river is not function optimally. It can be seen from the inability of the river in flowing runoff discharge. The floods caused many dead coconut trees and disrupted the activities of residents in Sei Undan Village. Flood simulation analysis is done by analyzing the capacity of the river channel and comparing the calculated discharge it with rational method. Analyze channel calculation using HEC-RAS 4.1.0 software. Profile analysis is done by dividing into 2 river channels that reach A and B with 3 different reset times, is 5 years, 10 years, and 25 years. The result of this research can be seen that the existing condition with maximum height in reach B is 30 cm for return periode of 5 years, 30 cm for return periode of 10 years and 30 cm for return periode of 25 years and to reach A that is 19 cm for return periode of 5-years, 34 cm for return periode of 10 years, and 27 cm for return periode of 25 years. Abstract

The sluice gate is a hydraulic structure that used for controlling the discharge on dam or irrigation canal. Their discharge coefficient depends on geometric and hydraulic parameters. Swamee (1992) presents two formulas for calculating the discharge coefficient (Cd) for free flow and submerged flow based on Henry’s Curve (1950). Laboratory models used to find out the flow phenomenon that was formed due to a difference in the edge shape of the sluice gate and increased gate base. The simulation done by varying the height of the gate opening (a) and the discharge (Q). The results of the study obtained the length of water jumps (Lj) formed on the sluice gate with edge 450 is longer than the sluice gate with edge 900. The discharge coefficient (Cd) value on the sluice gate with edge 450 is higher than the discharge coefficient (Cd) value on the gate with edge 900. The energy loss trendline (ΔE) obtained shows the value of ΔE increases with increasing h2/h1. The value of the critical flow coefficient range (Ckr) on the sluice gate with edge 450 and 900 increases with the increase in base height. The results of this study also add to the long trendline of previous research that has been done by Klaas (2009).Keywords: Discharge Coefficient, Energy Loss, Hydraulic Jump, Sluice Gate

Abstract

The area located on the banks of the Sail River, especially the downstream part of the river is an area that hasthe potential to flood and puddle when the rainfall is high in the upper reaches and the influence of the high tideof the Siak river. Floods that occurred on the banks of the Sail River inundated several infrastructures such asroads and residential areas. Based on Antara (2017), in Bambu Kuning street, the village of Rajosari was hit bya puddle of Sail river as high as about 30-60 cm, while around the residential area the height of the water was20 cm. The stages of the research are analyzing the frequency of rainfall data first, then calculating the planneddischarge with Nakayasu HSS, then hydraulic modeling using the HEC-RAS Program, after the flood waterlevel is obtained, the embankment planning is carried out. Based on the results of the analysis of the Sail Riverflood height, it was found that the flood face elevation in the upstream river, cross section 61 (SC 61) is 7.91 mor 1.57 m from the left bank of the river and 1.51 m from the right bank of the river and elevation flood face inthe downstream, cross section 0 (SC 0) is 2.67 m or -2.85 m from the left bank and -1.77 m from the right bank(non-flood conditions). After normalization, the height of the embankment plan is an elevation of 5.5 m at sta 0+ 050, elevation of 7 m sta 0 + 150-sta 2 + 150 (2000 m), elevation of 7.5 m sta 2 + 200-sta 3 + 050 (850 m)thus the water level elevation in the Sail river has decreased ± 1 m.Keywords: flood, embankment, HEC – RAS

Abstract

Waterwheel comprises of giant wheel equipped with bamboo buckets which rotates due to water flow to lift water from the river to the higher elevation paddy field. The waterwheel model usedin this research was the undershoot water waterwheel. The waterwheel has 55 cm of diameter, 18 blades (6 cm-long and 6 cm-wide), and 1764 kg of weight. This research was done by varying the number and dimension of the boxes to obtain the waterwheel’s optimal number of boxes. The number of boxes variation was 6, 12, 18, 24, 30, and 36 boxes. The box quantity variation was 6.67 ml, 10.5 ml, and 16 ml. The water flow rate was not varied. The result of this research shows that the rotation rate of the waterwheel was affected by the velocity of water driving theblades. The number and volume of the boxes affect the rotation rate of the waterwheel. The maximum flow rate that could be lifted by the boxes was 474.44 ml/minute, 647.78 ml/minute,and 1083.33 ml/minute for type 1, 2, and 3 boxes, respectively. Keywords: model, waterwheel, undershoot

Abstract

Waves moved from sea to coast cause erosion on the shore. The purpose of this research is to simulate the effect of submerged breakwater on wave characteristics. The method used in this research was wave simulation with several variations of the wave period, the number of breakwater and the distance between two breakwaters. The simulation used was laboratory simulation and numerical method using CADMAS Surf 2D software. The results showed that the wave height decreased with the addition of breakwater and the addition of the distance between two breakwaters. Furthermore, the wave starts to change when Froude number (fr) = 2,8. Based on the simulation froude value is generated > 1 so it still less effective to preventing abrasion. Keywords : Submerged Breakwater, CADMAS Surf 2D, Characteristics of Wave

Abstract

Peatland is a type of land that is flammable. One of the causes is land dryness that is caused by the formation of many canal networks. To reduce the possibility of damage to land, a rewetting effort is made. Rewetting is done by building a canal blocker. The construction of canal blocking is an effort to increase the capacity of the water in peatlands, and also to be able to prevent the decrease of water level in peatlands. This study analyzes the velocity and direction of groundwater flow before and after the canal blocking which is measured with the Groundwater Velocimeter instrument on each monitoring well. Based on the groundwater flow analysis which uses the Groundwater Velocimeter method in Dompas Village, Bengkalis Regency, it can be concluded that the highest velocity of the groundwater flow before the canal blocking occured in SP1-2, based on the Image J method which obtained a velocity of 0.09 m/day, and for the visual method, the highest velocity SP 2-4 was 0.28 m/day. While the highest velocity of the groundwater flow after the canal blocking occured in SP 1-4, based on the Image J method which obtained a velocity of 0.107 m/day, and for the visual method, the highest velocity that obtained at SP 2-4 was 0.43 m/day.
