Abstract

Abstract

This study examines the dissenting opinion in a child custody case following apostasy at the Tanjung Karang Religious Court, Class 1A, as a reflection of the dynamic interplay between Islamic family law, substantive justice, and child protection principles. The main research problem concerns how the judges’ legal reasoning patterns are formed within this context of differing opinions and to what extent the dissenting opinion contributes to reinforcing the principles of maslahah mursalah, maqasid al-shari‘ah, and the best interest of the child. Employing a qualitative methodology with a juridical-empirical approach, this study adopts a case study design on Decision No. 948/Pdt.G/2023/PA.Tnk, supported by in-depth interviews with the presiding judges and comparative analysis of national and international jurisprudence. The findings reveal two dominant paradigms in judicial reasoning: the normative-formalistic paradigm, which emphasizes hifz al-dīn (protection of religion), and the substantive-contextual paradigm, which prioritizes the child’s welfare as the core orientation of justice. The dissenting opinion functions as a form of rechtsvinding (judicial legal discovery), bridging textual legal interpretation and social realities to achieve more humanistic justice. This study recommends further comparative research across Muslim-majority countries such as Malaysia, Egypt, and Morocco to enrich the global discourse on Islamic law that is adaptive and responsive to the best interests of the child.

Abstract

Petroleum sludge (PS) is a hazardous waste rich in hydrocarbons and heavy metals, posing significant risks to the environment. Although numerous studies have been conducted globally, a comprehensive characterization of PS originating from Indonesia remains scarce. This study aims to fill this gap by conducting a thorough physicochemical characterization, environmental pollution assessment, and sustainable utilization potential evaluation of PS. The results revealed that the sludge contains a high oil content (15.56%), an extremely high COD level, and is dominated by iron as a heavy metal (4,585.67 mg/L). The TCLP analysis showed that Pb exceeded the regulatory threshold, indicating a significant leaching potential and toxicity risk. BET analysis indicated a mesoporous structure with a specific surface area of 4.73 m2/g, suggesting its potential use as an adsorbent or catalyst support. The high elemental composition of carbon (25.05%), hydrogen (3.10%), and calorific value (3,418 kcal/kg) further highlights its potential for thermochemical conversions such as pyrolysis or gasification. These findings provide a scientific foundation for PS management in Indonesia and highlight its potential conversion into value-added resources, thereby supporting circular economy strategies and sustainable development goals.

Abstract

One concrete step in improving students' mathematical competencies in modern education is through the application of interactive digital learning media. The GeoGebra Graphing Calculator application is an interactive and user-friendly digital learning tool. This research uses classroom action research. The subjects of this study are 20 students from class XI at MA Tarbiyatus Shibyan Lamongan. The classroom action research was conducted in two cycles. In each cycle, students were given worksheets on the topic of linear programming. In Cycle I, students completed the worksheets manually, while in Cycle II, students were introduced to the learning media and used the GeoGebra Graphing Calculator in completing the worksheets. The results obtained from this study using the T-Test (Paired Samples Statistic) show a p-value of ), indicating that the application of the GeoGebra Graphing Calculator in mathematics learning has an impact on improving students' mathematical competencies. Based on the average scores in each cycle, it is also evident that the use of the GeoGebra Graphing Calculator has an effect, as students' competencies improved from a moderate level with an average of 73.75% to a high level with an average of 89.06% after the application of the GeoGebra Graphing Calculator.

Abstract

Mathematics learning requires an approach that is appropriate to students' developmental stages to ensure optimal understanding. Developmental psychology plays a role in understanding the cognitive, emotional and social characteristics of students, so that learning can be tailored to their needs. This study uses a literature analysis method by examining various theories and research on developmental psychology and their implications for mathematics learning. The results of the study show that developmental psychology helps teachers adapt learning strategies to students' cognitive stages, overcome mathematics anxiety, and encourage social collaboration to increase learning motivation

Abstract

This research aims to develop mathematics comic learning media that is valid, practical, and effective in improving student learning outcomes. The research background is based on problems in mathematics learning, where abstract concepts are often difficult for students to understand. Mathematics comics, as a visual medium that combines narrative and illustration elements, have the potential to present mathematical concepts in a more-interesting and easy to understand manner, thereby increasing student motivation and learning outcomes. This research uses the development research (R&D) method with the ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation and Evaluation) development model. The research was carried out at Bustanul Hikmah Islamic Vocational School, involving class XI students as test subjects. Data collection instruments include expert validation questionnaires, student response questionnaires, and learning outcomes tests. The results of expert validation show that the mathematics comic developed meets valid criteria in terms of content, construction and language. The results of the practicality trial show that the mathematics comic is easy to use, the material is presented clearly, and attracts students' interest. Analysis of learning outcome data shows a significant improvement after using mathematics comics. Thus, it can be concluded that the mathematics comics developed are valid, practical and effective for improving student learning outcomes. This mathematics comic can be an innovative and interesting alternative learning media to improve the quality of mathematics learning.

Abstract

Online learning is an adaptation of face-to-face learning which cannot be carried out during the covid-19 pandemic, therefore conditioning online learning properly without changing the meaning of face-to-face learning is something that a teacher must prepare. The equitable support facilities owned by teachers and students at SDN Kutolawas is an excellent opportunity to condition this technology-based learning. However, most of the learning process that occurs still uses social media, namely wa groups. The purpose of holding this learning is to equip and provide additional platform options in the application of online learning. So that teachers can innovate and be creative in the online teaching process during this pandemic. The method given is in the form of using the Google Meet and Google Classroom applications.
