Abstract

This experiment was designed to examine the use of spray dried cell blood meal as organic Fe source in polka dot grouper (Cromileptes altivelis) feed to substitute inorganic Ferosulphate (FeSO4.7H2O). Two treatments were applied, one with FeSO4.7H2O as Fe source and the other with 6% blood meal. Fish with initial length and weight of 6.48 ± 0.16 cm and 5.60±0.25 g was reared at a density of 10 fish/aquarium (40 x 60 x 50 cm3) in a recirculation system for 40 days. Feed was administrated 3 times a day at satiation. The use of organic Fe with 6% blood meal apparently resulted in a lower body Fe content, feed consumption and lipid retention but a higher protein retention and feed efficiency. There was however no significant difference between treatments in growth and survival (P>0.05).   Keywords : Spray dried cell, polka dot grouper, growth, Fe, blood meal   ABSTRAK Penelitian dirancang untuk melihat pemanfaatan tepung darah spray-dried cell (SBC) sebagai sumber zat besi organik dalam pakan kerapu bebek (Cromileptes altivelis), menggantikan bahan anorganik Ferosulfat (FeSO4.7H2O). Penelitian menggunakan 2 jenis perlakuan yaitu pakan Fe-anorganik dengan sumber Fe dari FeSO4.7H2O dan sumber Fe-organik dari tepung darah 6 %. Panjang awal ikan 6,48±0,16 cm dan bobot awal 5,60±0,25 gr/ekor, kepadatan 10 ekor/akuarium (40x60x50cm3) dalam sistem resirkulasi. Pemeliharaan ikan selama 40 hari dengan pemberian pakan 3 kali sehari  sekenyangnya (at satiation). Parameter uji meliputi kinerja pertumbuhan dan komposisi tubuh ikan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan penggunaan Fe-organik dengan 6 % tepung darah sebagai pengganti sumber Fe-anorganik pada kerapu bebek memberikan pengaruh terhadap penurunan kandungan Fe tubuh, konsumsi pakan dan retensi lemak, tetapi laju pertumbuhan harian, panjang relatif dan kelangsungan hidup sama (P>0,05). Penggunaan Fe-organik memberikan pengaruh terhadap peningkatan retensi protein dan efisiensi pakan. Kata kunci : spray-dried cell, kerapu bebek, pertumbuhan, Fe, tepung darah

Abstract

Motile aeromonad septicaemia (MAS) is caused by the bacterium Aeromonas hydrophila. The use of plant (natural materials) such as meniran and garlic can be as an alternative way to inhibit the activity of A. hydrophila by their active substances which have potency as an antibacterial and immunostimulant. The aim of this study was to analyze the effectiveness of using a mixture of meniran and garlic in feed to control of A. hydrophila in catfish. There were split in two kind of doses namely, preventive (garlic:meniran=5 ppt:20 ppt) and curative (garlic:meniran=10 ppt:40 ppt). The preventive treatment was given for two weeks before challenging test. The curative treatment was performed on 2th-8th day after challenging test.  Challenging test was carried out by intramuscularly injecting of 0,1 mL A. hydrophila (108cfu/ml)  into the fish. The results indicated that preventive treatment with a mixture of extracts 5 ppt meniran and 20 ppt garlic was more effective in preventing infection of A. hydrophila than curative treatment.  Keywords: Phyllanthus niruri, Allium sativum, catfish, Aeromonas hydrophila.  ABSTRAK  Penyakit MAS (motile aeromonad septicaemia) disebabkan oleh bakteri Aeromonas hydrophila. Bahan alami seperti meniran dan bawang putih dapat digunakan sebagai alternatif untuk menghambat aktivitas bakteri ini.  Zat aktif yang dimiliki bahan ini berpotensi sebagai antibakteri dan immunostimulan. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisis efektivitas penggunaan campuran meniran dan bawang putih dalam pakan untuk pengendalian penyakit MAS pada ikan lele. Perlakuan dibagi menjadi dua dosis, yaitu pencegahan (bawang putih:meniran=5 ppt:20 ppt) dan pengobatan (bawang putih:meniran=10 ppt:40 ppt). Perlakuan pencegahan diberikan selama seminggu sebelum uji tantang. Perlakuan pengobatan dilakukan pada hari ke 2 hingga hari ke-8 setelah uji tantang. Uji tantang dilakukan dengan menyuntikkan secara intramuskuler 0,1 ml A. hydrophila (108cfu/ml) ke ikan lele. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa perlakuan pencegahan dengan campuran ekstrak meniran 5 ppt dan bawang putih 20 ppt efektif dalam mencegah infeksi A. hydrophila dibandingkan dengan perlakuan pengobatan dengan campuran ekstrak meniran 10 ppt dan 40 ppt bawang putih.   Kata kunci: meniran, bawang putih, lele, Aeromonas hydrophila.

Abstract

This research was purposed to determine the effective dose of meniran and garlic flour in feed by repelleting method for preventive and curative efficacy to the infection of Aeromonas hydrophila in catfish. The treatment tested were eight different dosages of garlic and meniran meals (2:1). Those four dosage used to preventive treatment namely A (0.1%), B (1.1%), C (2.1%), and D (3.1%), the other four used to curative treatment namely E (0.2%), F (2.2%), G (4.2%), and H (6.2%). The preventive treatments were given for two weeks before challenging test. The curative treatment was performed on 2nd–8th day after challenging test. Challenging test was carried out by intramuscularly injecting of 0.1 mL A. hydrophila (108cfu/mL) into the fish. Parameters observed were feeding response, growth rate, survival rate, clinical symptoms, wound healing, and organs morphology. The result showed that the survival rate of preventive treatment was 40±40% for A and B, 60±20% for C, and 20±20% for D. The survival rate of curative treatment was 33.33±11.55% for E, 46.67±11.55% for F, 33.33±11.55% for G, and 26.67±11.55% for H. The results indicated that the preventive treatment was more effective than the curative treatment, presumably because the immunostimulatory activities on preventive was better than curative. Abstract

Spirulina is blue green algae that have high nutrient content like protein and vitamin so itcan beused as source ofsingle cell protein (SCP). This research was conductedto know minimum doses of Spirulina in different protein feed on growth performance of tilapia. Experimental diets devided by two different protein level (25% of protein and 28% of protein) and three levels supplementation of Spirulina 0% (25A), protein level 25% supplementedSpirulina 3% (25B), protein level 25% supplementedSpirulina 6% (25C), protein level 28% supplementedSpirulina 0% (28A), protein level 28% suplemented Spirulina 3% (28B), and protein level 28% supplementedSpirulina 6% (28C). Testeds feedwere tilapia with average initial weight 17,24±0,29 g and density five fish/aquarium. Tilapia rearedin aquarium sized 50×40×35 cm3 filledwith 30 cm waterand provided altrecirculation system. Fish were cultured for 40 days and fed at satiation with three times feeding frequency. All data analyzed statistically by one-way ANOVA.Result demonstrated that various dosesof Spirulina in different protein level of feed influencedspecific growth rate, feeding efficiency, protein deposition, and fat deposition. Abstract

ABSTRACT This research was conducted to examine the different dose of vitamin E in the diet on female broodstock reproduction performance of the fantail goldfish Carassius auratus auratus. This research consisted of four treatments with three replications. The use of vitamin E doses was 0, 125, 250, and 375 mg/kg. The vitamin E was dissolved in vegetable oil and mixed with albumen as a binder in feed. The vitamin E was sprayed at feed and was air dried. Female broodstock of the fantail goldfishes were reared for 40 days. The result showed that 375 mg/kg treatment performed the highest quality of reproduction. Egg diameter, gonadosomatic index, fecundity, and germinal vesicle breakdown of fish which are treated by 375 mg/kg vitamin E were respectively 0.92±0.05 mm, 8.86±4.62%, 56.00±29.18%, and 67.35±17.67% higher than control. Thus, 375 mg/kg of dietary vitamin E suplementating was a best dose to improve female broodstock productivity of the fantail goldfish Keywords: female broodstock, fantail goldfish, vitamin E, reproduction quality  ABSTRAK Penelitian dilakukan untuk menguji suplementasi vitamin E dengan dosis berbeda dicampur ke dalam pakan komersial terhadap produktivitas induk betina ikan komet Carassius auratus auratus. Penelitian ini menggunakan empat perlakuan dengan tiga ulangan. Dosis vitamin E yang diberikan, yaitu 0, 125, 250, dan 375 mg/kg pakan. Vitamin E dilarutkan dalam minyak nabati dan dicampur dengan putih telur sebagai perekat pada pakan. Vitamin E disemprotkan ke pakan dan dikeringanginkan. Induk betina ikan komet pascasalin dengan bobot 72,78±19,47 g diberi perlakuan selama 40 hari. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa induk betina ikan komet yang diberi suplementasi vitamin E sebanyak 375 mg/kg dalam pakan memiliki diameter telur 0,92±0,05 mm, gonadosomatic index 8,86±4,62%, fekunditas 56,00±29,18 butir/g ikan, dan germinal vesicle breakdown 67,35±17,67% yang lebih tinggi dibandingkan kontrol. Dengan demikian, suplementasi vitamin E sebesar 375 mg/kg pada pakan adalah dosis terbaik dalam meningkatkan produktivitas induk betina ikan komet. Kata kunci: induk betina, ikan komet, vitamin E, kualitas reproduksi

Abstract

ABSTRACT The experiment was conducted to evaluate the level of organic selenium in the diet on the growth performance of red tilapia Oreochromis sp. Four levels of organic selenium namely 0, 1, 2, and 4 g Se/kg diet were used as a treatment, and the selenium content on the diets are 0.12, 0.19, 1.05, and 1.42 mg Se/kg respectively. This experiment were used randomized design with four treatments and two replications. All the diet was formulated to have similar protein and energy. Juvenile red tilapia with average body weight of 9.49±0.94 g were reared in the 80×40×40 cm3 aquarium with density of 10 fish/aquarium. Fish were reared for 40 days and feed four times daily at satiation levels. The result of this study showed that fish fed diet containing 4 g organic Se/kg diet (1,42 mg Se/kg) had the best growth performance. Keywords: organic selenium, growth, red tilapia  ABSTRAK Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh dosis selenium organik pada pakan terhadap kinerja pertumbuhan ikan nila merah Oreochromis sp. Empat macam dosis selenium organik yang digunakan adalah 0, 1, 2, dan 4 g Se/kg pakan. Kandungan selenium pada setiap pakan berturut-turut adalah 0,12; 0,19; 1,05; dan 1,42 mg Se/kg pakan. Penelitian ini menggunakan rancangan acak dengan empat perlakuan dan dua ulangan. Semua pakan diformulasikan memiliki protein dan energi yang sama. Ikan yang digunakan adalah juvenil nila merah dengan bobot rata-rata 9,49±0,95 g yang dipelihara dalam akuarium berukuran 80×40×40 cm3 dengan kepadatan 10 ekor/akuarium. Ikan tersebut dipelihara selama 40 hari dengan frekuensi pemberian pakan empat kali sehari secara at satiation. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa ikan yang diberi pakan yang mengandung 4 g Se organik/kg pakan (1,42 mg Se/kg) memperlihatkan kinerja pertumbuhan terbaik. Kata kunci: selenium organik, pertumbuhan, nila merah

Abstract

ABSTRACT This study aimed to determine the dose of garlic and shatterstone herb mixed into the feed in 11-day old catfish juvenile (body length 1.53±0.26 cm, body weight of 40±16 mg). The study was divided into two steps, the first step was dose determination and the second step was the dose testing. The treatment was carried out for 21 days, then the challenge test was conducted by immersion method for 60 minutes in A. hydrophila density of 104 cfu/mL. Parameters of observation were survival, feed intake, relative growth rate, morphology of the liver, and water quality. The result showed that garlic at 25 g/kg and shatterstone herb at 5 g/kg provided higher fish viability (81.11±3.85%) compared with the control (23.00±5.77%). Feed intake and relative growth rate were not different among the treatments. Whereas the liver condition in positive control was paler than other treatments. Thus, prevention of A. hydrophila infection on catfish juvenile was effectively achieved by feeding with diet supplemented by garlic 25 g/kg and shatterstone herb 5 g/kg. Keywords: garlic, shatterstone herb, Aeromonas hydrophila, juvenile, catfish  ABSTRAK  Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menentukan dosis bawang putih dan meniran yang dicampur ke pakan dalam bentuk tepung pada benih lele berumur 11 hari (berukuran panjang 1,53±0,26 cm dan bobot 40±16 mg). Penelitian ini terbagi menjadi dua tahap, pertama adalah tahap penentuan dosis (dosis 20 ppt bawang putih+5 ppt meniran dan 25 ppt bawang putih+5 ppt meniran) dan kedua adalah tahap pengujian dosis. Perlakuan diberikan selama 21 hari, kemudian uji tantang dilakukan dengan metode perendaman selama 60 menit dengan kepadatan bakteri A. hydrophila 104 cfu/mL. Parameter yang diamati adalah kelangsungan hidup, jumlah konsumsi pakan, pertumbuhan relatif, morfologi organ hati, dan kualitas air. Hasil penelitian membuktikan bahwa perlakuan bawang putih 25 g/kg dan meniran 5 g/kg memberikan kelangsungan hidup benih lele sebesar 81,11±3,85%, sedangkan kontrol positif 23,00±5,77%. Jumlah konsumsi pakan dan pertumbuhan relatif tidak berbeda antarperlakuan, sedangkan organ hati berwarna pucat pada kontrol positif. Pencegahan infeksi bakteri A. hydrophila dengan pakan campuran bawang putih 25 g/kg dan meniran 5 g/kg efektif dilakukan pada benih ikan lele. Kata kunci: bawang putih, meniran, Aeromonas hydrophila, benih, ikan lele

Abstract

ABSTRACTThis experiment was conducted to evaluate the use of by product of corn ethanol industry, DDGS (distiller dried grain with soluble) and hominy as feed raw material on digestibility and the growth performance of humpback grouper Cromileptes altivelis juvenile. Three experimental diets containing isoprotein (48%) but different in DDGS contain were used. Diet A containing 0% of DDGS and hominy while diet B and C containing 10.13% (6.13% of DDGS and 4% of hominy) and 19.05% (15.05% of DDGS and 4% of hominy). Reduce of fish meal level in the diet was happen as a consequence of balancing amino acid. For digestibility experiment and Cr2O3 at level of 0.05% was used as a tracer. The feces were daily collected 30‒60 minutes after feeding for 14 days. Dry matter and protein were used as digestibility parameters. Completely randomized design with three treatments and two replicates was used in this experiment. Humpback grouper with an average weight of 11‒14 g were reared at floating net cages (FNG) of 3×2×1.5 m3. The stocking density for each cage was 167 fish/FNG and reared for six months. For digestibility measurement 30 fish were held in cylindrical fiber tank filled with 800 L of sea water. Fish were fed three times daily at satiation level. For maintaining net in a clean condition net was changed in every ten days. Feed consumption, digestibility of protein and total, growth performance indicator i,e specific growth rate, feed efficiency protein and lipid retention were used as evaluating parameters. The results showed that the fish fed with diet containing DDGS (6.13%) dan hominy (4%), at the level of 10.13% (diet B), shows similar growth performance indicators with the fish fed diet A (0% of DDGS and hominy) and the growth performance indicator was higher when being compared to those fish fed diet C (containing 19.05% of DDGS (15.05%) and hominy (4%)) (p<0.05). More over the inclusion of DDGS and hominy at the level of 10,13% give no negatif impact to feed palatability (shown by total feed consumption value) and digestibility of protein. The increasing level of DDGS and hominy more than 10% reduced palatability and protein digestibility. Ikan yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah juvenil ikan kerapu bebek berukuran 11‒14 g. Ikan dipelihara dalam karamba jaring apung yang berukuran 3×1,5×2 m3 dengan kepadatan 167 ekor/jaring. Ikan diberi pakan sampai kenyang sebanyak dua kali sehari. Untuk menjaga agar jaring tetap bersih maka dilakukan pergantian jaring setiap satu sampai dua minggu sekali. Ikan dipelihara selama lima bulan dan setiap bulan dilakukan sampling. Tiga macam pakan digunakan dalam penelitian ini dengan kadar protein 47% dan rasio energi protein 10 kkal/g protein. Pakan A adalah pakan yang tidak mengandung DDGS dan homini, pakan B mengandung DDGS 6,13% dan 4% (total 10,13%), dan pakan C mengandung DDGS 15,05% dan Homini 4% (total 19,5%). Untuk mengevaluasi ketercernaan nutrien maka kromium oksida (Cr2O3) digunakan sebagai penelusur. Penelitian ketercernaan dilakukan di laboratorium dengan menggunakan fiber dengan volume 800 L. Rancangan acak lengkap dengan tiga perlakuan dan dua ulangan digunakan dalam penelitian ini. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa nilai ketercernaan nutrien tidak berbeda sampai total kadar DDGS dan homini 10,13% (pakan B) dan peningkatan DDGS serta homini sampai 19,05% (pakan C) menurunkan nilai ketercernaan. Ikan yang diberi pakan dengan DDGS sebesar 10,13% (pakan B) memiliki nilai efisiensi pakan, sintasan, laju pertumbuhan spesifik, konsumsi pakan dan retensi protein yang sama dengan pakan tanpa DDGS (pakan A), akan tetapi nilai-nilai tersebut lebih tinggi jika dibandingkan dengan ikan yang diberi pakan B (p<0,05). Retensi lemak ikan yang diberi pakan B memiliki nilai yang lebih tinggi jika dibandingkan dengan ikan yang diberi pakan A dan C. Dari penelitian ini dapat disimpulkan bahwa DDGS dan homini dapat digunakan sebagai bahan baku pakan ikan kerapu bebek sampai level 10,13% (DDGS 6,13% dan homini 4%).Kata kunci: pertumbuhan, ketercernaan, DDGS, homini, ikan kerapu bebek, Cromileptes altivelis

Abstract

ABSTRACT The research was conducted to evaluate effect of the administration of Artemia enriched with vitamin C on the survival, total body length, and average body weight of Pangasionodon sp. larvae. Artemia were enriched with either 0, 50, 100, or 150 mg/L vitamin C immersed in the culture medium for 13 hours. Two days old larvae were fed on enriched Artemia 12 times/day for seven days. At the end of feeding experiment, it was found that fish fed on Artemia enriched with 100 mg/L culture medium had the highest survival, total length and body weight, respectively 76.17±12.78%, 1.63±0.34 cm, and 20.6±3.8 mg. Keywords: survival, growth, Artemia, vitamin C, catfish, Pangasionodon sp.  ABSTRAK Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui pengaruh Artemia yang diperkaya dengan vitamin C dosis berbeda terhadap kelangsungan hidup, panjang total, dan bobot tubuh larva ikan patin Pangasionodon sp. Pada penelitian ini, Artemia diperkaya dengan vitamin C dosis 0, 50, 100, atau 150 mg/L media pengayaan. Larva yang berumur dua hari diberi pakan Artemia hasil pengayaan sebanyak 12 kali sehari selama tujuh hari masa pemeliharaan. Pada akhir percobaan, didapatkan bahwa larva ikan yang diberi Artemia diperkaya vitamin C dosis 100 mg/L media pengayaan memberikan kelangsungan hidup 76,17±12,78%, panjang total 1,63±0,34 cm, dan bobot tubuh paling tinggi 20,6±3,8 mg. Kata kunci: kelangsungan hidup, pertumbuhan, Artemia, vitamin C, ikan patin, Pangasionodon sp.

Abstract

ABSTRACT This research was aimed to evaluate the role of fish meal from different raw materials in improving growth performance of sangkuriang catfish Clarias sp. The source of raw materials used were derived from trash fish, salted fish, and head fish eal. Fish reared for 44 days and were given feed test three times per day at 08.00, 12.00, and 16.00. Biomass weight of the experimental fish used were 38.49±1.61 g. The fish reared on the aquarium of 60x50x40 cm3 and by using recirculation system. The results showed that fish meal derived from trash fish provide the best result for feed consumption, daily growth rate, absolute length, biomass, retention of protein, retention of fat, feed efficiency, feed conversion (P>0.05). However, it does not significantly different on the survival of fish (P>0.05). The data showed that the use of trash fish meal resulted on the best growth performance of sangkuriang catfish. It was indicated that the trash-fish meal might be used as the main protein source of sangkuriang catfish feed. Keywords: catfish, growth, at satiation, fish meal  ABSTRAK Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi pakan uji yang menggunakan sumber tepung ikan dari bahan baku berbeda dalam meningkatkan kinerja pertumbuhan lele sangkuriang Clarias sp. Sumber tepung ikan yang digunakan berasal dari ikan rucah, ikan asin, dan kepala ikan, yang memiliki umum digunakan sebagai salah satu bahan baku pakan lokal. Ikan diberi pakan at satiation selama 44 hari dengan frekuensi tiga kali sehari, yaitu pada pukul 08.00, 12.00, dan 16.00. Biomassa rata-rata ikan uji yang digunakan adalah 38,49±1,61 g. Ikan dipelihara dalam akuarium berukuran 60x50x40 cm3 dan dengan menerapkan sistem resirkulasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tepung ikan yang berasal dari ikan rucah mampu memberikan hasil terbaik dalam meningkatkan kinerja pertumbuhan ikan uji. Hal ini ditunjukkan oleh nilai kinerja pertumbuhan seperti jumlah konsumsi pakan, laju pertumbuhan harian, panjang mutlak, biomassa, retensi protein, retensi lemak, efisiensi pemberian pakan, dan konversi pakan yang menunjukkan perbedaan nyata (P<0,05). Namun, tidak terjadi perbedaan pada kelangsungan hidup ikan (P>0,05). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan tepung ikan rucah menghasilkan pertumbuhan terbaik sebagai sumber protein utama pada pakan ikan lele sangkuriang. Kata kunci : ikan lele, pertumbuhan, at satiation, tepung ikan
