Abstract

The aim of this article is to investigate the phonetic similarities between the Minang and Kerinci languages, with a specific focus on their phonetic analysis. Minang and Kerinci are two languages originating from Indonesia, each spoken by distinct ethnic groups. However, there are intriguing phonetic similarities between these languages that can contribute to a better understanding of linguistic relationships in the western part of Indonesia. This study employs phonological analysis methods to identify these phonetic similarities and their meanings in both languages. The results of this analysis provide profound insights into shared phonetic elements. This research can significantly contribute to understanding the linguistic connections between Minang and Kerinci, unveiling their intertwined historical linguistic roots. Moreover, it can be beneficial in the context of education and the preservation of regional languages in Indonesia. This article illustrates the importance of phonological studies in dissecting the elements of language and identifying inter-language relationships in complex geographical regions such as Indonesia. Abstract

This research is motivated by the multilingual proficiency of Mohamed Bin Zayed University for Humanities (MBZUH) students in Abu Dhabi. The aim of this study is to identify the forms of code-switching and code-mixing and to understand the reasons behind their occurrence in the speech of MBZUH students. The method used is descriptive research with a qualitative approach. Data analysis is conducted using the padan method and the SPEAKING method. The data sources for this study are local and international students at MBZUH, while the data itself consists of student utterances or conversations. The data collection techniques used involve two methods: the (simak) method with the (simak libat cakap) technique and the (cakap) method with the (pancing) and (cakap semuka) techniques. The results of this study identified two types of code-switching: internal and external, as well as two types of code-mixing: internal and external. Additionally, the study found three factors influencing code-switching and four factors influencing code-mixing in the speech of MBZUH students in Abu Dhabi.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the metaphor of romanticism in the poem "Risalatu Min Tahtil Ma'" by Nizar Qabbani. The approach used is the majaz theory which is a branch of the science of bayan, so that the romanticism in the poem can be revealed. This research method uses a descriptive qualitative method to describe phenomena in poetry. The results of the study show that there are 15 majaz that describe the feeling of heartbreak due to love in return. The poem deviates slightly from the traditional matrix structure which emphasizes the free-form style of the verse and binds the reader to the emotional resonance of metaphor. Imagery and language are one of the elements to convey complex feelings in this poem, the use of classical language seeks to make this poem easier to understand and maintain its poetic elegance. From the results of this study, it can be concluded that this poem describes deep longing and sadness, as well as conveying the importance of accepting human emotions and strengthening relationships with the homeland and personal identity.

Abstract

PurposeThis study aimed to explore the optimalization of pilgrimage tradition by integrating social and economic empowerment and the use of technology to enhance spiritual experience, cultural resilience, and their role in strengthening social cohesion. MethodThe study employed a literature review and a theoretical analysis on the concepts of pilgrimage, cultural resilience, and religious tourism in the context of modernization and technology. This study used multi-dimensional approach to analyze the modernization of pilgrimage tradition. Here, this research used the digital technology, while maintaining its spiritual essence and socio-cultural resilience. FindingsThe Findings of the study showed that the pilgrimage tradition and religious tourism can have some contributions. They are empowering local economies through community-based management, strengthening cultural resilience by preserving traditional values, and using technology to improve an accessibility into the quality of spiritual experiences. Additionally, pilgrimage serves as a social interaction platform that fosters harmony in multicultural societies. ConclusionThe optimization of religious tourism supports not only local economic growth, but also cultural preservation, national character building, and the maintenance of social harmony in Indonesia, while preserving its spiritual essence.

Abstract

Artikel ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis deklarasi identitas dan perlawanan dalam syiir Sijjil Ana ‘Arabi Karya Mahmoud Darwish menggunakan pendekatan wacana kritis Fairclough. Dengan fokus pada teks syiir, penelitian ini mengeksplorasi bagaimana Darwish membangun identitas Arab yang kuat, menolak stigma, dan menyoroti ketidakadilan yang dialami oleh rakyat Palestina. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah analisis wacana kritis, yang memungkinkan peneliti untuk menggali lapisan-lapisan makna dalam bahasa yang digunakan, serta untuk memahami konteks sosial dan politik yang mendasari karya tersebut. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa syiir ini berfungsi sebagai deklarasi identitas yang menegaskan martabat dan hak-hak individu, sekaligus menciptakan kesadaran akan solidaritas di antara komunitas yang terpinggirkan. Selain itu, hasil penelitian juga mengungkapkan bahwa perlawanan tidak hanya diungkapkan melalui tindakan fisik, tetapi juga melalui pengakuan identitas dan harapan untuk masa depan yang lebih baik. Melalui penggambaran ketidakadilan ekonomi dan emosi kolektif, syiir ini memberikan suara kepada mereka yang terpinggirkan dan mengajak pembaca untuk merenungkan pentingnya keadilan sosial. Artikel ini diharapkan dapat memberikan wawasan lebih dalam tentang kekuatan puisi sebagai alat untuk mengekspresikan perlawanan dan membangun identitas kolektif dalam konteks penindasan

Abstract

Ecofeminism views that exploitation of nature is directly proportional to men's oppression of women. This study aims to present some forms of nature and women relations contained in the novel Dlumū Lā Tajiffu by Byar Rufael. The data of this research is in the form of sentences from the novel Dlumū Lā Tajiffu related to the relation between nature and women. This research belongs to descriptive qualitative research. The approach applied in this research is the relationship between nature and women from the perspective of ecofeminism. The data collection techniques used include the documentation method with reading and recording techniques, and through two data analysis techniques, namely identification and analysis. The results of this study show that the novel Dlumū Lā Tajiffu by Byar Rufael represents the relationship between nature and women in (1) the depiction of the image of nature and women symbolized as a sacred entity, namely the mother. (2) the oppression of nature and women by patriarchal-capitalists such as As'ad Syahdan makes it difficult for villagers to get water. Keywords: Ecofeminism, Women, Ecology, Ecocritism

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi interaksi sosial yang terdapat pada film series AlRawabi School for Girls Season 2 yang menggunakan pendekatan semiotika oleh Charles Sanders Peirce.Metode yang digunakan ialah metode deskriptif yang menganalisis berdasarkan semiotika. Dalam teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan teknik dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa interaksi sosial pada film series AlRawabi School for Girls Season 2 terdapat interaksi sosial asosiatif dan disosiatif. Interaksi sosial asosiatif terdapat pada adegan 3 dan 4. Sedangkan, interaksi sosial disosiatif terdapat pada adegan 1, 2, 4, 5, dan 6. Simpulan ini menunjukkan interaksi sosial yang terjadi pada film series AlRawabi School for Girls Season 2 ini merupakan representasi kehidupan remaja di sekolah terutama dalam hal perundungan yang sering terjadi di sekolah. Melalui proses disosiatif dan asosiatif, serial ini memberikan gambaran yang mendalam tentang tantangan sosial di sekolah, seperti perundungan, hierarki kekuasaan, solidaritas, dan kerja sama. Kajian ini memberikan pesan moral untuk memahami dan mengelola hubungan sosial demi menciptakan lingkungan yang lebih inklusif dan suportif. Kata Kunci: Film, Interaksi Sosial, Semiotika

Abstract

Superior views circulating in society can draw out small narratives, but in this novel, there are inferior views from many of society’s views. The purpose of this research is to find the binary opposition of figure and image of Jakarta in novel Jakarta Rock ‘n Roll by Sekar Ayu Asmara because many people still believe in the grand narrative. In fact, there are still many realities hidden behind the grand narrative. The researcher uses Derrida's deconstruction theory to find binary opposition in novels and uses the literature technique. In the stage of analysis, the researcher divides it into four stages, classification, reduction, analysis, and conclusions. The results of this study show deconstruction value contained in various characters from the public's view and image of Jakarta city which has the reverse side of many public views. This research contributes to seeing different views from common views in society that are universal. Universal values are reviewed through this research so that readers can see the inferior values of figures and image of Jakarta.

Abstract

This research aims to describe the cultural values contained in the film "Najih" by Pondok Pesantren Dalwa. The film Najih tells the story of a young man who is determined and never gives up in his journey to learn Arabic. This research is a qualitative descriptive study that uses the research object in the form of the film "Najih" by Pondok Pesantren Dalwa. This research focuses on the film "Najih" with objects in the form of stills from different scenes in the film. Researchers classify signs based on representation, object and interpreter. Through the analysis applied, a lot of data was found that revealed the cultural values in the film "Najih". These cultural values include elements such as knowledge, belief, art, morality, law, customs, skills and habits. This can be seen from the data presented in the research.

Abstract

This research analyses the social and cultural values in Darin J. Sallam's Farha by examining the relationship between Representament, Object, and Interpretant. The research uses a qualitative paradigm with a Charles Sanders Peirce semiotic analysis approach. Literature study is the method used based on data sources in the form of snippets of dialogue scenes from Farha's film published on the Netflix platform. The formal Object of this research is Charles Sanders Peirce's semiotics and the material Object is Farha Film by Darin J. Sallam. The results and discussion show several representations that can produce several interpretations. The explanation of the interpretation in this film is in the form of social and cultural values based on the theory expressed by Eduard Spranger. In this film, there are at least five social and cultural values consisting of religious, power, solidarity, theoretical, and art or aesthetic values. The various values presented in the film illustrate the setting of this film in Palestine, which at that time was hit by the Nakba Day event. The values in the film are expected to inspire many people, especially in seeing the phenomena in Palestine This research using Charles Sanders Peirce's Semiotics theory only found five social and cultural values and it is hoped that other researchers will continue this research with different theories.Keywords – Farha Film, Palestine, Peirce’s Semiotic,.
