Abstract

Title : The Balance of Organic and Inorganic Fertilizer on the Carrot Field (Daucus carota L.) at Andisols Tawangmangu. This experiment research was conducted on September – December 2007 in Blumbang, Sub district Tawangmangu, Karanganyar. The aim of this research was to know the effect of balance organic fertilizer and inorganic fertilizer to the carrot quality in Andisols, Tawangmangu. This experiment used RCBD (Randomized Complete Block Design) with organic fertilizer factor (0%, 50% and 100% organic fertilizer) and inorganic fertilizer factor (0%, 50% and 100% inorganic fertilizer). Statistical analysis for the influence of the treatment was variant analysis with F-test and Kruskal-Wallis test. Duncan Multiple Range Test (DMRT) was used to compare inter-treatment and for finding out of the relation inter-variable it was used correlation test. The result shows that the balance of organic and inorganic fertilizer have significant influence to the water content of carrot, the weight of carrot, the weight of dried carrot plant and the plant’s height, and have not significant influence to the carotene, carrot’s diameter, and carrot’s length. The lower water content of carrot was shown by the treatment of 100% organic fertilizer and 50% inorganic fertilizer. The treatment of 100% organic fertilizer and 100% inorganic fertilizer give the highest plant height and the weight of carrot per plant. To the soil, the balance of organic and inorganic fertilizer has significant influence to the total N of soil and to the available N of soil. It has not significant influence to the total P of soil and available P of soil, total K of soil and available K of soil. The result of correlation test showed there was positive correlation among carrot weight and water content of carrot. Keywords: Organic fertilizer, Inorganic Fertilizer, Carrot, Andisols.

Abstract

Title : The Status of Ca Mg and S Nutrient as Basic Fertilizing of Soybean (Glycine max L. Merril) in Punung, Pacitan. The purpose of this research was to recognize the availability of Calcium (Ca) Magnesium (Mg) and Sulphur (S) nutrient, to give fertilizing suggestion, to give common fertilizing and soil management strategy. This research was phenomenological Descriptive Qualitative research by means of field survey which supported with soil analysis in lab. The determining of Ca Mg and S nutrient status and its management strategies was checked on each land units. The land unit’s map in Punung was obtained by overlaid soil map, slope map and land use map. From the overlay was obtained 19 land units. At the time that, The soil sampling take out in each land unit was doing as randomize (purposive sampling), to calculated the necessity of fertilizer based on the difference number of nutrient available in the soil and total removal Glycine max L. merril nutrient with the number of nutrient that carry on (total removal) in the harvest time, at the time that to determine fertilizing suggestion based on the result of fertilizer necessity (surplus or deficit) each unit land (SPL). Punung fertility level in common based on the Ca nutrient status are medium (6.08-7.87 cmol/kg), Mg nutrient status are high (4.05-5.25 cmol/kg) and S nutrient status are very low ((0.0013-0.0001%). The fertility suggestion was directed to the needed of S nutrient by adding the inorganic fertilizer that is ZA and Phonska. The rights soil and plant management strategies in Punung are: (1) Fertilizing of organic fertilizer as big as 5 ton/ha. (2) In the slope area by making level to the land as an effort to reduce erosion level. (3) In the flat area by using and making the mulch and the drainage line. (4) The right management plants by rotation system and planting in the same direction of contour line. Keywords: Glycine max L. Merril, nutrient status, soil management

Abstract

Title : Vermicompost and Inorganic Fertilizer Effect on Availability of Nitrogen at Alfisols Jumantono and Its Absorption in Sweet Corn (Zea mays L. saccharata). The purpose of this experiment is to know the effect of vermicompost and inorganic fertilizer on availability of nitrogen at Alfisols Jumantono and its absorption in sweet corn (Zea mays L. saccharata). This research was done from September 2007 until January 2008 in Sub district of Jumantono, Regency of Karanganyar, soil and plant tissue analysis was done in Laboratory of Chemical and Soil Fertility, Agriculture Faculty, Sebelas Maret University Surakarta. This research represents experimental research by using Randomized Completely Block Design (RCBD) factorial with two factors. First factor was vermicompost dosage and second factor was inorganic fertilizer dosage (urea, SP36, KCl). Factor I consisted of 3 level that is: K0 (without vermicompost), K1 (vermicompost 1.5 ton.ha-1), K2 (vermicompost 3 ton.ha-1). Factor II consisted of 3 level that is: A0 (without inorganic fertilizer), A1 (urea 100 kg.ha-1, SP36 50 kg.ha-1, and KCl 25 kg.ha-1), A2 (Urea 200 kg.ha-1, SP36 100 kg.ha-1, and KCl 50 kg.ha-1). From bolt of the factor obtained 9 treatment combination and each treatment combination repeated 3 times. Statistics analysis use F Test, Kruskal Wallis, DMRT, Mood Median, and Correlation. Research result indicates that there are interaction between vermicompost and inorganic fertilizer which improving availability of nitrogen at Alfisols and its absorption in sweet corn. Highest of N available by present of vermicompost 3 ton.ha-1 + urea 200 kg.ha-1, SP36 100 kg.ha-1, and KCl 50 kg.ha-1 that is 0.095%. Highest of N Absorption and N of plant tissue that is 0.714 g/plant and 1.39% shown by present of interaction between vermicompost 3 kg.ha-1 and without inorganic fertilizer. Highest of total N shown by present of urea 200 kg.ha-1, SP36 100 kg.ha-1, KCl 50 kg.ha-1 that is 0.30%. Abstract

Efficiency of P Fertilizer at Sandy Paddy Soil of South Yogyakarta That were Added Zeolite with Rice (Oryza sativa L.) as Plant Indicator. The aim of this research were to study the efficiency of P fertilizer at sandy paddy soil of South Yogyakarta that were added zeolite with rice as plant indicator and to know treatment combination which give the highest yield of rice plant (Oryza sativa L.). This research were conducted in February 2007 to June 2007at paddy soil in Siliran V, Karangsewu, Galur, Kulonprogo Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta. This research are field experiment. The experiment design are used Split Plot Design, as a main plot was zeolit, i.e. no zeolit and 750 kg.ha‐1 zeolite. Sub plot consist of five levels of P fertilizer, i.e. 0, 50, 100, 150, 200 kg.ha‐1 SP36. Each treatment was three replicated so there is 30 treatment plot. Data analyzed with F test, Kruskal‐Wallis test, DMRT 5% and Correlation test. The result from this research shows that added 750 kg.ha‐1 zeolit are not significant for efficiency of P absorption and Agronomic Efficiency Index. The added of SP36 fertilizer has increased significant highly efficiency of P absorption on SP36 dosage 200 kg.ha‐1 is 168.49 or can increase 127.87% in comparison with control. Interaction between 750 kg.ha‐1 zeolit and SP36 dosage 100 kg.ha‐1 (Z1P2) has highly Agronomic Efficiency Index (234.3). Interaction between zeolit and P fertilizer has not significant increased rice yield, but treatment interaction between 750 kg.ha‐1 zeolit and SP36 dosage 100 kg.ha‐1 give the highest highly unhulled paddy crop (23.61 g.plant‐1) and the highest weight 1000 unhulled paddy crop (24.33 g). Abstract

The aim of this research is to study the approprite formula and applied method of banana corm and phosphate rock on available-P in Alfisols. The research was arranged in factorial completely randomized design with 3 factors. The first factor is the dosage  of banana corm extract, which is consisted of: E1 = 100  ml of banana corm extract, E2 = 200 ml of banana corm extract, and E3 = 300 ml of banana corm extract. The second factor is the dosage of the phosphate rock which is consisted of B1 = 100 gr of  phosphate rock, B2 = 200 gr phosphate rock, and B3 = 300 gr of phosphate rock. The third factor is application method, which is consisted of M1 = directly applied  into the soil. M2 = incubated before applied into the soil. The observation of soil includes: soil pH, soil organic matter content, cation exchange capacity, total-N, total-P, available-P and the population of phosphate solubilizing bacteria. Result shows that available-P in the Alfisols is very low. The interaction amongs the treatment significantly affect the population of phosphate solubilizing bacteria. Banana corm extract and  phosphate rock applied directly into the soil increase soil pH.

Abstract

TITLE : RATIO OF PAITAN (TITHONIA DIVERSIFOLIA) AND  THE PHONSKA FERTILIZER ON CHROMIUM HEAVY METAL CONTENT IN THE RICE FIELDS. The purposes of this research are to determine the influence of Paitan (Tithonia diversifolia) and the Phonska Fertilizer on Chromium (Cr) Content in soil at rice fields; and the correlation between Cr and rice yield. This research was conducted in Kebakkramat District, Karanganyar Regency. The experiment was arranged using Randomized Completely Block Design (RCBD), with 6 (six) treatments included: T0 : control (without Paitan nor fertilizer), T1: Phonska 100% (360 kg/ha), T2 : Paitan 100% (11,66 ton/ha), T3: 75% Phonska + 25% Paitan, T4 : 50% Phonska + 50% Paitan, T5 : 25% Phonska +75% paitan. with 4 replications. The observed variables are soil Cr availability, dry biomass, and the weight of 1000 seeds, The data was analyzed using the F test of 1% and 5% levels, and DMRT was employed to investigate the interaction of each treatment. The Pearson’s correlation test was used to investigate the correlation between variables. The results showed that application of paitan (Tithonia diversifolia) and Phonska gave no significant effect to the Cr level. There was no significant correlation between Cr level and the yield of rice.

Abstract

Title : The Effect of Leucite Grain and Nitric Acid Concentration on Potassium Availability of Bengawan Solo Entisols with Peanuts as Plant Indicator (Arachis hypogaea.  L). Research in the Glass House of Agriculture Faculty of Sebelas Maret University have been made to study the effect of Leucite grain and nitric acid concentration against availability of potassium from Bengawan Solo Entisols made in April – September 2006. This research is a causal relationship functional research; the approach is done with variables factorial experiment using Complete Random Design (CRD) with 2 factors and 3 times repeated. First factor is adding the Leucite grain (L) consist of 4 stage, that is L0 (without Leucite), L1 (using 5 mesh of Leucite grain), L2 (using 30 mesh of Leucite grain) and L3 (using 80 mesh size of Leucite grain). Second is adding acid concentration of nitrate (M), consists of 4 stage that is M0 (without nitric acid), M1 (adding 0.1M of nitric acid), M2 (adding 0.2M of nitric acid), and M3 (adding 0,3M of nitric acid). The first shaken with second factor for 24 hours before applied to soil. Analysis of data is using Analysis of Variance and Duncan’s Multiple Range Test. Results of research shows the high K dissolved value on the acid concentration of nitrate with 10-1M after the first 24 hours shaking between the two factors, with soluble K value 172.52 cmol/kg of L1M1 addition, 120.48 cmol/kg of L2M1 addition, and 188.13 cmol/kg of L3M1 addition. Adding Leucite grain and nitric acid concentrations have lower soil available K value at the time of incubation with a value that is lower than 0.30 cmol / kg (L0M0 – control of treatment). In stage of maximum vegetative, the additions of two factors have to increase the value of average soil available K was 0.30 cmol/kg on the L3M2. K absorption by plants has the highest average value of 0.73 mg/ kg on L3M3 Keyword: Leucite, Nitrite acid, potassium availability, potassium absorption, weathering
