Abstract

This study explores the challenges faced by Indonesian language teachers in vocational schools (SMK) in implementing the Emancipated Learning Curriculum, focusing on three key areas: curriculum understanding, material management, and assessment practices. The curriculum emphasizes student-centered, contextual learning, yet its implementation presents obstacles for teachers. A mixed-methods approach was employed, involving a survey of 40 teachers from East Java. The findings reveal that more than half of teachers have only a partial understanding of the curriculum, with experienced teachers struggling the most to transition from traditional methods. In material management, 70% of respondents reported inadequate or partially adequate resources, with rural teachers facing severe shortages. Assessment practices were dominated by traditional tests, while project-based and performance-based assessments were rarely used due to lack of training, logistical challenges, and systemic emphasis on standardized evaluations. These challenges highlight the need for targeted interventions, including practical training on curriculum application, development and equitable distribution of curriculum-aligned resources, and supportive policies for flexible assessments. Addressing these issues is critical for achieving the curriculum’s goals of fostering critical thinking, creativity, and contextual learning. Future research should investigate long-term impacts and scalable solutions for effective curriculum implementation in diverse settings.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness and limitations of a waste pollution module based on the Argument Driven Inquiry (ADI) model in shaping environmental behavior among biology students. A nonrandomized control-group pretest–posttest design was employed involving three biology student classes at Universitas Negeri Malang: the experimental class (ADI module), positive control (ADI model), and negative control (PowerPoint presentation). Data were collected using an environmental behavior questionnaire covering indicators of pro-environmental activity, non-active public behavior, and household environmental behavior. ANCOVA analysis showed that although all classes experienced an increase in posttest scores, there was no statistically significant difference among the treatment groups (p > 0.05). This indicates that the ADI module was not significantly more effective than other teaching methods in improving environmental behavior. Limitations such as online learning constraints, lack of direct interaction, and technical challenges in module implementation contributed to this outcome. Nevertheless, the ADI module has potential as a contextual learning tool and is recommended for further development into a more practical and interactive digital format.

Abstract

This study aims to describe adherence and violations to the principles of language politeness, and the functions of politeness in netizen comments on the captions of YouTuber Atta Halilintar Instagram posts. Employing a qualitative approach with a descriptive method, the data were obtained from written netizen comments collected through observation and note taking techniques. The findings indicate that adherence to politeness principles is reflected in the application of the maxims of wisdom, generosity, praise, humility, agreement, and sympathy. Violations are evident through the use of harsh vocabulary, innuendo, prejudice, and refusal to provide support or approval. Furthermore, the functions of politeness identified in netizen comments include expressing statements, posing questions, giving commands, apologizing, and offering criticism. This research is expected to contribute to a better understanding of language politeness forms, promoting more appropriate and considerate communication practices in social media interactions.Abstrak Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan pematuhan dan pelanggaran prinsip kesantunan berbahasa, serta fungsi kesantunan berbahasa dalam komentar warganet pada caption postingan akun Instagram youtuber Atta Halilintar. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode deskriptif. Data dalam penelitian ini berupa kalimat tertulis dari komentar warganet yang diambil dari caption postingan Instagram Atta Halilintar yang dikumpulkan melalui teknik simak, dan catat. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pematuhan prinsip kesantunan berbahasa meliputi penggunaan maksim kearifan, kedermawanan, pujian, kerendahan hati, kesepakatan, dan kesimpatian. Pelanggaran prinsip kesantunan terjadi dalam bentuk penggunaan kosakata kasar, sindiran, prasangka buruk, serta ketidaksediaan memberi dukungan atau persetujuan. Adapun fungsi kesantunan dalam komentar warganet meliputi fungsi menyatakan, menanyakan, memerintah, meminta maaf, dan mengkritik. Diharapkan penelitian ini dapat membantu warganet dalam memahami bentuk kebahasaan sehingga dapat digunakan dengan baik.

Abstract

The training “Strategies for Analyzing Prose Fiction to Improve the Quality of Indonesian Language Teaching” aims to improve the competence of MGMP Indonesian Language teachers in Surabaya City in teaching prose fiction. Prose fiction is one of the literary genres that has high educational value, but is often faced with challenges in teaching. The training covers text analysis techniques, the development of innovative learning methods, as well as strategies to encourage critical discussions in the classroom. Through a practical and collaborative approach, participants are expected to be able to apply the strategies acquired to improve students' understanding of fictional prose. The expected outcome is the improvement of teaching quality and students' reading interest, as well as the strengthening of collaboration networks among teachers in the MGMP community. Results showed a significant improvement in participants' analytical skills and the application of prose fiction text-based teaching strategies.ABSTRAKPelatihan "Strategi Analisis Prosa Fiksi untuk Peningkatan Kualitas Pengajaran Bahasa Indonesia" bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kompetensi guru-guru MGMP Bahasa Indonesia di Kota Surabaya dalam mengajar prosa fiksi. Prosa fiksi merupakan salah satu genre sastra yang memiliki nilai pendidikan tinggi, namun seringkali dihadapi dengan tantangan dalam pengajaran. Pelatihan ini mencakup teknik analisis teks, pengembangan metode pembelajaran yang inovatif, serta strategi untuk mendorong diskusi kritis di kelas. Melalui pendekatan praktis dan kolaboratif, peserta diharapkan mampu menerapkan strategi yang diperoleh untuk meningkatkan pemahaman siswa terhadap prosa fiksi. Hasil yang diharapkan adalah peningkatan kualitas pengajaran dan minat baca siswa, serta penguatan jaringan kolaborasi antar guru dalam komunitas MGMP. Hasil menunjukkan adanya peningkatan signifikan dalam keterampilan analisis peserta dan penerapan strategi pengajaran berbasis teks prosa fiksi.

Abstract

The viral phenomenon of the fufufafa account that has been discussed by the public has led to various interpretations in the digital space. This research aims to describe how the fufufafa account discourse in the Abraham Samad SPEAK UP talk show program on YouTube. This research uses a descriptive qualitative approach with data sources in the form of videos from the Abraham Samad SPEAK UP YouTube channel that discuss the topic of the fufufafa account. Data was collected through observation and documentation techniques, then analyzed using the critical discourse analysis approach of Teun A. Van Dijks model, which includes three main dimensions of text analysis, social cognition, and social analysis. The results showed that in the text analysis dimension, the discourse is built through macro structure (theme), superstructure (schematic), and micro structure which includes syntactic, semantic, stylistic, and rhetorical elements. In the social cognition dimension, schemas such as person schema, self schema, role schema, and event schema are found that shape the speakers' perspective on issues. Meanwhile, in the social analysis, there are power relations and control over access to information that influence the framing of discourse. These findings show how digital media shapes the construction of meaning through language. AbstrakFenomena viralnya akun fufufafa yang ramai diperbincangkan publik telah menimbulkan beragam penafsiran di ruang digital. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan wacana akun fufufafa dalam program talkshow Abraham Samad SPEAK UP di YouTube. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif dengan sumber data berupa video dari kanal YouTube Abraham Samad SPEAK UP yang membahas topik akun fufufafa. Data dikumpulkan melalui teknik observasi dan dokumentasi, kemudian dianalisis dengan pendekatan analisis wacana kritis model Teun A. Van Dijk, yang mencakup tiga dimensi utama analisis teks, kognisi sosial, dan analisis sosial. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pada dimensi analisis teks, wacana dibangun melalui struktur makro (tema), superstruktur (skematik), dan struktur mikro yang mencakup unsur sintaksis, semantik, stilistik, dan retoris. Kemudian pada dimensi kognisi sosial, ditemukan skema-skema seperti skema person, skema diri, skema peran, dan skema peristiwa yang membentuk cara pandang narasumber terhadap isu. Sementara itu, pada analisis sosial, terlihat adanya relasi kuasa dan kendali akses terhadap informasi yang turut memengaruhi pembingkaian wacana. Temuan ini memperlihatkan bagaimana media digital membentuk konstruksi makna melalui bahasa.

Abstract

This research aims to develop a waste pollution module using the Argument Driven Inquiry (ADI) model. The module was developed using the ADDIE development model which consists of five stages, namely analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. The validity of this development module refers to the results of validation by validators who are teaching materials experts, material experts and field practitioners. The practicality of this module refers to the results of assessments by users (students). The research results show that the module developed meets validity and practicality.ABSTRAK: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan modul pencemaran sampah dengan model Argument Driven Inquiry (ADI). Modul dikembangkan dengan model pengembangan ADDIE yang terdiri dari lima tahap, yaitu analysis, design, development, implementation, dan evaluation. Kevalidan modul hasil pengembangan ini mengacu pada hasil validasi oleh validator ahli bahan ajar, ahli materi, dan praktisi lapangan. Kepraktisan modul ini mengacu pada hasil penilaian oleh pengguna (mahasiswa). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa modul yang dikembangkan telah memenuhi kevalidan  dan kepraktisan.

Abstract

Desa Berora merupakan salah satu desa dengan jumlah penambang rakyat yang cukup banyak yang termasuk dalam pertambangan skala kecil yang menggunakan metode Hg dalam pengolahan emas. Desa ini berada di Kecamatan Lopok, Kabupaten Sumbawa Barat, Provinsi Nusa Tenggara Barat. Aktivitas ini sangat banyak dilakukan dikarenakan lebih mudah untuk memperoleh emas dari batuan. Pelaksanaan pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk memberikan penyuluhan dengan harapan dapat meningkatkan kesadaran penambang dalam proses penambangan dan pengolahan limbah pertambangan emas. Metode pelaksanaan dilakukan dengan cara memberikan penyuluhan secara langsung pada penambang dan diskusi interaktif secara langsung di lokasi penambang. Titik lokasi pengabdian langsung dilakukan di lokasi pertambangan emas rakyat yang ada di Desa Berora. Pada pengabdian yang sudah dilakukan terdapat beberapa kegiatan yang dilakukan guna meningkatkan pemahaman dan kesadaran masyarakat terhadap isu pertambangan rakyat yakni penyuluhan kepada penambang, dan masyarakat umum.

Abstract

Pragmatics plays a fundamental role in mediating meaning and facilitating effective communication across cultural boundaries. This narrative review aims to examine the role of pragmatic competence in intercultural communication by synthesizing theoretical and empirical evidence from diverse contexts. Literature was systematically collected from databases including Scopus, PubMed, and Google Scholar using keywords such as “intercultural pragmatics,” “speech acts,” and “pragmatic competence.” Studies were included based on relevance, methodological rigor, and empirical contribution, encompassing research from educational, professional, and societal settings. The results highlight five key themes: speech acts and politeness strategies, pragmatic failures and communication barriers, technology in pragmatic learning, cultural and religious pragmatics, and teacher and curriculum integration. Findings reveal that pragmatic competence is culturally contingent, with speech acts and politeness norms varying widely across societies. Pragmatic failures are shown to disrupt communication and, in high-stakes domains such as aviation and healthcare, may have critical consequences. Technology-enhanced learning, particularly through AI and gamification, demonstrates potential in fostering pragmatic competence, while culturally embedded expressions and religious idioms illustrate the importance of contextual awareness. The integration of pragmatics into teacher education and curricula emerges as essential for preparing learners to navigate intercultural interactions effectively. This review concludes that systemic reforms, policy innovations, and targeted pedagogical strategies are required to address persistent gaps in pragmatic education. Future research should examine long-term pragmatic adaptation and digital communication contexts to further advance understanding and practice. These findings emphasize the urgent need for pragmatic competence as a core dimension of intercultural communication.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan mendeskripsikan hasil belajar siswa ketika diterapkan perlakuan berupa pengimplementasian model kooperatif Jigsaw. Subjek penelitian kuantitatif ini berupa hasil belajar peserta didik kelas XI MAN 1 Cirebon. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuantitatif dengan jenis penelitian lanjutannya adalah quasi eksperimen. Data dikumpulkan melalui tes berupa soal pretest dan posttest untuk mengetahui hasil belajar siswa dan instrumen angket untuk mendapatkan hasil respons dan minat siswa terhadap model pembelajaran kooperatif Jigsaw. Analisis soal menggunakan uji validitas dan uji reliabilitas sedangkan analisis data menggunakan analisis deskriptif dan analisis statistik parametrik berupa sample t-test dengan mengidentifikasi, menganalisis, dan mendeskripsikan hasil belajar dan angket siswa. Hasil penelitian ini adalah: (1) kelas yang menggunakan model pembelajaran kooperatif Jigsaw lebih efektif dibandingkan dengan kelas yang tidak menggunakan model pembelajaran tersebut dengan nilai rata-rata 78,6 76,9 dengan taraf signifikansi 0,000; (2) respons dan minat siswa terhadap model pembelajaran kooperatif Jigsaw berpengaruh terhadap hasil belajar siswa karena diperoleh hasil sig di angka 0,000 lebih kecil dari 0,05. Manfaat penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui keefektifan model kooperatif Jigsaw pada materi cerita pendek di kelas XI dan sebagai alternatif media pembelajaran bagi pengajar pada materi-materi lainnya.This study aims to describe student learning outcomes when the treatment is applied by implementing a Jigsaw cooperative model. The subject of this quantitative research is the learning outcomes of class XI MAN 1 Cirebon students. The method in this study is  quantitative  with the type of follow-up research quasi-experimental. Data was collected through tests in the form of pretest and posttest questions to find out student learning outcomes and a questionnaire instrument to get the results of students' responses and interest in the Jigsaw cooperative learning model. Analysis of the questions used validity and reliability tests while data analysis used descriptive analysis and parametric statistical analysis by identifying, analyzing, and describing student learning outcomes and questionnaires. The results of this study are: (1) Classes that use the Jigsaw cooperative learning model are more effective than classes that do not use this learning model with an average value of 78.6 76.9 with a significance level of 0.000. (2) Students' responses and interest in the Jigsaw cooperative learning model affect student learning outcomes because the sig results obtained at 0.000 are smaller than 0.05. The benefit of this research is to find out the effectiveness of the Jigsaw cooperative model in short story material in class XI and as an alternative learning media for teachers in other materials.

Abstract

Environmental worldview is a human paradigm towards the environment that describes how humans view and behave towards the environment. The research is to determine and analyze the environmental worldview of students at State Senior High School 1 Turen. This research was designed using a survey method involving 10th-grade students of State Senior High School 1 Turen, Malang Regency, using the New Ecological Paradigm (NEP) instrument. NEP is a concept in environmental sociology that describes a new perspective on the relationship between humans and nature. It has demonstrated validity (r count > r table = 0.219) and reliability (Cronbach’s alpha > 0.60). Size number is 80 students. Data were analyzed using Pearson correlation, t-tests, and Analysis of Variance (ANOVA), with descriptive analysis following. The results show that most 10th-grade students at state senior high school  1 Turen have relatively low NEP scores, with an average score of 36.26, the lowest score of 27.00, and the highest score of 46.00. Demographic data also did not show significant differences, such as differences in class, gender, age, and blood type. The cause of the low environmental worldview among students is claimed to be the lack of learning that incorporates environmental worldview indicators at state senior high school  1 Turen.
