Abstract

Metode pembelajaran konvensional sering kali kurang efektif dalam memberikan pemahaman praktis tentang operasi pembangkit listrik tenaga uap (PLTU), sehingga siswa kesulitan memahami prinsip kerja dan komponen utamanya. Untuk mengatasi hal ini, kegiatan Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat (PKM) memperkenalkan Trainer PLTU Single Propeller, alat interaktif yang dirancang untuk mendukung pembelajaran siswa SMKN 1 Sumatera Barat pada mata pelajaran konversi energi. Kegiatan meliputi sosialisasi, penyerahan trainer, pengenalan komponen, pelatihan operasional, dan panduan perawatan dasar bagi siswa Teknik Mesin yang didampingi guru. Hasil evaluasi menunjukkan rata-rata skor 3,8 dari 5 pada pemahaman komponen trainer, menandakan pemahaman yang baik. Skor rata-rata 3,6 pada keterampilan operasional menunjukkan sebagian besar siswa mampu mengoperasikan trainer secara mandiri, meskipun beberapa membutuhkan bimbingan teknis. Antusiasme dan partisipasi aktif mencatat skor rata-rata 4,2, mencerminkan minat yang tinggi. Trainer PLTU ini berhasil meningkatkan pemahaman, keterampilan, dan minat belajar siswa tentang sistem PLTU

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the characteristics of students in physics learning, focusing on learning motivation, learning styles, and learning experiences. The research employs a descriptive method with a questionnaire as the instrument, distributed to 54 high school student respondents in Padang City. The data is analyzed quantitatively based on the percentage score for each indicator. The results show that students' learning motivation falls into the good category (73%), the most dominant learning style is kinesthetic (75%), and learning experiences indicate that the use of smartphones and whiteboards has the highest percentage (74%). It can be concluded that the characteristics of students demonstrate good learning motivation, diverse learning style preferences with kinesthetic and audio-visual tendencies, and learning experiences that have started to utilize information technology. It is suggested to develop more interactive learning strategies, integrate various learning media, and accommodate diverse learning styles to enhance the effectiveness of physics learning.

Abstract

TThe COVID-19 pandemic, Industrial Revolution 4.0, and Society 5.0 have caused significant changes in various aspects of life, including education. This research aims to determine what media are used in physics learning, what kind of media students like and need in implementing physics learning. This quantitative descriptive research describes the existence of media in physics learning based on the answers of respondents consisting of 54 high school students in the city of Padang. The research instrument employed is a Google Form questionnaire validated by experts in learning media development. The media most often used in physics learning is the whiteboard, while the media least frequently used is the virtual laboratory. The media that is most popular with students in learning physics is experimental tools, while the media that is least popular is the whiteboard. The media that students need most in learning physics are experimental tools, while tutorial videos are the ones that are least needed. The results of this research can be used as a reference for schools in developing learning media that suit the needs of students and teachers.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of digital-based learning media in supporting vocational high school (SMK) education through a meta-analysis approach. The research background is based on the need for educational transformation in the digital era, particularly in competency-based learning in SMKs. The method employed is a quantitative meta-analysis of 21 reputable journal articles indexed in SINTA, focusing on statistical data processing such as effect size to measure the impact of digital media on learning outcomes. The results indicate that digital-based learning media has a significant positive effect on improving student learning outcomes, with an average effect size of 1.115 (strong category). Media such as Macromedia Flash (1.028), Geogebra (0.852), and Cabri (0.805) contributed the most, while three-dimensional geometry recorded the highest effect size (1.812). The study concludes by recommending the use of digital media tailored to the subject matter to optimize learning outcomes. The implications of this research can serve as a foundation for developing more effective digital learning media in SMKs. ABSTRAKPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi efektivitas penggunaan media pembelajaran berbasis digital dalam mendukung pembelajaran di Sekolah Menengah Kejuruan (SMK) melalui pendekatan meta-analisis. Latar belakang penelitian didasarkan pada kebutuhan transformasi pendidikan di era digital, terutama dalam konteks pembelajaran berbasis kompetensi di SMK. Metode yang digunakan adalah meta-analisis kuantitatif terhadap 21 artikel jurnal bereputasi yang terindeks dalam SINTA, dengan fokus pada pengolahan data statistik seperti effect size untuk mengukur dampak media digital terhadap hasil belajar. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa media pembelajaran berbasis digital memiliki pengaruh penggunaan yang signifikan terhadap peningkatan hasil belajar siswa, dengan rerata effect size sebesar 1,115 (kategori kuat). Media seperti Macromedia Flash (1,028), Geogebra (0,852), dan Cabri (0,805) memberikan kontribusi tertinggi, sementara materi dimensi tiga mencatat effect size tertinggi (1,812). Simpulan penelitian merekomendasikan penggunaan media digital yang disesuaikan dengan materi ajar untuk optimalisasi hasil belajar. Implikasi penelitian ini dapat menjadi landasan bagi pengembangan media pembelajaran digital yang lebih efektif di SMK

Abstract

Using meta-analysis, this study examines the effect of clinical supervision on improving the quality of learning in vocational high schools (SMK). The background to this issue lies in the need to improve the quality of learning in SMKs, which is very important for producing graduates who are ready to enter the workforce. The focus of this study is to evaluate a number of empirical studies that discuss the effectiveness of clinical supervision in SMK learning. To determine the extent of the impact of clinical supervision on learning quality, data were collected from various relevant research articles and then analyzed statistically. The meta-analysis results indicate that clinical supervision positively and significantly improves learning quality, both in terms of teaching methods, teacher competence, and student learning outcomes. These findings suggest that clinical supervision can be systematically utilized to enhance educational quality in SMK. Therefore, clinical supervision should be fully integrated into teacher development practices at SMKs as it is an important component supporting the improvement of learning quality. This study recommends that policymakers and education practitioners enhance clinical supervision programs as part of efforts to improve the quality of vocational education. ABSTRAKDengan menggunakan metode meta-analisis, penelitian ini mengkaji pengaruh supervisi klinis terhadap peningkatan kualitas pembelajaran di Sekolah Menengah Kejuruan (SMK). Latar belakang masalah terletak pada kebutuhan untuk meningkatkan kualitas pembelajaran di SMK, yang sangat penting untuk menghasilkan lulusan yang siap kerja. Fokus penelitian ini adalah mengevaluasi sejumlah studi empiris yang membahas seberapa efektif supervisi klinis dalam pembelajaran SMK. Untuk mengetahui seberapa besar pengaruh supervisi klinis terhadap kualitas pembelajaran, data dikumpulkan dari berbagai artikel penelitian yang relevan, dan kemudian data tersebut dianalisis secara statistik. Hasil meta-analisis menunjukkan bahwa supervisi klinis meningkatkan kualitas pembelajaran secara positif dan signifikan, baik dalam hal metode pengajaran, kemampuan guru, maupun hasil belajar siswa. Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa supervisi klinis dapat digunakan secara sistematis untuk meningkatkan kualitas pendidikan di SMK. Jadi, supervisi klinis harus dimasukkan sepenuhnya ke dalam praktik pembinaan guru di SMK karena merupakan salah satu komponen penting yang mendukung peningkatan kualitas pembelajaran. Studi ini menyarankan pengambil kebijakan dan praktisi pendidikan untuk meningkatkan program supervisi klinis dalam upaya meningkatkan kualitas pendidikan kejuruan.

Abstract

This study aims to examine student learning outcomes following the implementation of the video-assisted Project-Based Learning (PjBL) method in Class XI TITL 1 at SMK Negeri 1 Pariaman. The low level of student learning outcomes is attributed to limited engagement during the learning process. Therefore, this research investigates whether the video-assisted PjBL method can enhance student achievement. An experimental research design was employed, using a one-group pretest-posttest model. The participants were 32 students from Class XI TITL 1 at SMK Negeri 1 Pariaman during the 2024/2025 academic year. To measure learning outcomes, a pretest was administered before applying the video-assisted PjBL method, followed by a posttest after completing the learning process on the topic of Electric Motor Installation. The posttest results were analyzed using the N-Gain Score and criteria for learning mastery. The findings indicate that student scores significantly improved after the implementation of the video-assisted PjBL method. This suggests that the application of video-assisted PjBL effectively enhances student learning outcomes in the Electric Motor Installation subject at SMK Negeri 1 Pariaman.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the learning outcomes of students after the implementation of the game-based learning method assisted by the Quizizz application in the Basic Electricity Engineering subject at SMK Negeri 1 Rejang Lebong. In an effort to improve student learning outcomes, interesting and interactive learning media are needed. This study used an experimental approach with a pre-experimental method, as well as a one group pretest-posttest design. The research instruments used were pretest and posttest questions in objective form to assess student learning outcomes. Before use, the instrument was tested with validity test, reliability test, differentiator test, and question difficulty index to ensure the feasibility of the tools used. The results indicated an increase in the learning outcomes of students who applied the game-based learning method assisted by the Quizizz application, when compared to conventional learning methods. Nevertheless, this study also has some limitations, such as the focus on only one school and one subject. Therefore, further research involving more schools and subjects is expected to provide a more comprehensive picture of the application of this method. In addition, the factors of student motivation and previous experience in the same subject also need to be considered in future research. This research provides a strong foundation for curriculum development and learning approaches to improve students' understanding of electricity fundamentals.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the competence of students of the Electrical Engineering Education study program in educational field practice, especially in pedagogical and professional aspects. This study uses a quantitative approach with a data collection method in the form of a questionnaire. Before the questionnaire was distributed to students, a trial was conducted to test its validity and reliability. The data obtained from the questionnaire will be measured using a Likert scale of 1-5. The analysis method used is descriptive statistical analysis using the Respondent Achievement Level (RAL). The subjects in this study were 30 students of the Electrical Engineering Education study program class of 2020 who had carried out educational field practice. The results of this study indicate that most students of the Electrical Engineering Education Study Program have sufficient mastery of pedagogical and professional competencies. For this reason, improvements are needed in both competencies, because there are still weaknesses in several indicators.

Abstract

This study was motivated by the low learning achievement of students in the Engineering Physics course, as evidenced by the fact that there are still students who get an E (failed) in the Engineering Physics course. Students with a vocational high school educational background also tend to have a higher percentage of failures than high school and MA. This study aims to analyze the differences in learning achievement of the Engineering Physics course of students of the Electrical Engineering Education Study Program, Padang State University, class of 2020, based on educational background (SMA, SMK, MA) and college entrance pathways (SNMPTN, SBMPTN, Mandiri). This study uses a quantitative method with a comparative approach. Data were obtained through documentation of students' Engineering Physics course grades, which were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistical techniques. The results of the study showed that there were significant differences in the learning achievement of the Engineering Physics course of students of the Electrical Engineering Education study program based on educational background. This difference was seen in students with a vocational high school educational background and students with a high school educational background. However, no significant differences were found based on college entrance pathways.

Abstract

Inquiry-based learning (IBL) has been proven to be an effective approach to developing 21st-century skills, such as critical thinking, collaboration, and creativity. However, the adaptation of inquiry phases to different levels of education and specific learning objectives remains a challenge that has not been thoroughly answered. This study used a systematic literature review (SLR) approach to review the IBL model with a focus on identifying the phases of inquiry, exploring the adaptation of IBL at various levels of education, analyzing relevance to learning objectives, and evaluating the effectiveness of scaffolding and research design. From an analysis of 2018-2024 taken from the Google Scholar database, it was found that IBL consists of five main phases-orientation, problem formulation, exploration, elaboration, and evaluation effectiveness depending on the educational context and level of scaffolding. For example, the 5E-Based Inquiry model strongly supports science learning in elementary school, while the self-investigation phase is more appropriate in higher education. In addition, scaffolding, such as the use of advanced organizers and digital simulations, was shown to support student engagement during the inquiry process. This research highlights the flexibility and effectiveness of IBL in supporting conceptual understanding, critical thinking skills, and problem-solving and offers insights into the adaptation and implementation of relevant models for different educational needs.
