Abstract

This study compares query performance among three data storage models in MySQL: the relational model (retail_relational), the unoptimized JSON model (retail_json_raw), and the JSON model with generated columns and indexes (retail_json_gc). The dataset used is a public retail transaction dataset containing more than one million records with eight attributes including Invoice, StockCode, Description, Quantity, InvoiceDate, Price, Customer ID, and Country. Four query scenarios were tested: filtering by country, searching by stock code, filtering by price range, and grouping by country for revenue aggregation. Each query was executed ten times and analyzed using EXPLAIN to observe the execution plan. Results show that the JSON_GC model consistently achieves the fastest execution time across all scenarios. For the stock code filter query, JSON_GC achieves an average of 0.006 seconds compared to 1.577 seconds for the relational model and 1.950 seconds for JSON_Raw. For the GROUP BY aggregation query, JSON_GC requires only 0.002 seconds compared to more than 1.6 seconds for both other models. This performance difference is due to generated columns supporting index scans and covering indexes, preventing MySQL from performing full table scans. The JSON_Raw model is consistently the slowest due to the overhead of JSON_EXTRACT functions and the inability to be directly indexed. This study concludes that generated columns are a highly effective optimization strategy for managing semi structured JSON based data in MySQL.

Abstract

Digital financial systems are crucial for MSMEs to improve the efficiency and accuracy of record-keeping. Unfortunately, many MSMEs, including PizzaUpps, still rely on poorly structured flat-file record-keeping systems. This condition causes serious problems, such as duplication of customer and product data, and inconsistencies in transaction information, due to the lack of integrity controls in their databases. To address this, this study aims to redesign and optimize the database architecture of PizzaUpps’ financial system. Using the Waterfall model, the main methodology is database normalization, which transforms the data structure from unnormalized form (UNF) to Third Normal Form (3NF) and Boyce-Codd Normal Form (BCNF). The results show that the normalization process successfully produces a new, structured relational database design. This design consists of interconnected main tables, including Customer, Product, Transaction, and Transaction_Detail, and is supported by an Entity Relationship Diagram (ERD) and a validated physical relationship schema. Foreign keys and referential integrity constraints ensure data integrity across tables. The proposed database design proved effective in eliminating data redundancy and anomalies, significantly improving the accuracy, consistency, and integrity of PizzaUpps’ financial data. This design is highly recommended as a basis for developing a more comprehensive digital financial or accounting information system in the future.Peran sistem keuangan digital sangat krusial bagi UMKM untuk meningkatkan efisiensi dan keakuratan pencatatan. Sayangnya, banyak UMKM, termasuk PizzaUpps, masih mengandalkan sistem pencatatan flat-file yang tidak terstruktur dengan baik. Kondisi ini menyebabkan masalah serius seperti duplikasi data pelanggan dan produk, serta inkonsistensi informasi transaksi, karena tidak adanya kontrol integritas pada basis data mereka. Untuk mengatasi hal ini, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk merancang ulang dan optimalisasi arsitektur basis data sistem keuangan PizzaUpps. Menggunakan model Waterfall, metodologi utamanya adalah normalisasi basis data, yaitu mentransformasikan struktur data dari bentuk tidak ternormalisasi (UNF) menjadi Third Normal Form (3NF) dan Boyce-Codd Normal Form (BCNF). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa proses normalisasi berhasil menciptakan desain basis data relasional yang baru dan terstruktur. Desain ini terdiri dari tabel-tabel utama yang saling terhubung, seperti Pelanggan, Produk, Transaksi, dan Detail_Transaksi, dan dilengkapi dengan Entity Relationship Diagram (ERD) serta skema relasi fisik yang tervalidasi. Integritas data antar tabel dijamin melalui penggunaan foreign key dan batasan integritas referensial. Desain basis data yang diusulkan terbukti efektif dalam menghilangkan redundansi dan anomali data, secara signifikan meningkatkan akurasi, konsistensi, dan integritas data keuangan PizzaUpps. Desain ini sangat direkomendasikan sebagai dasar untuk pengembangan sistem informasi keuangan atau akuntansi digital yang lebih lengkap di masa depan.

Abstract

The development of digital communications has increased the risk of message interception and manipulation, necessitating robust and multi-layered security solutions. This research designs, implements, and evaluates a multi-layered security scheme that integrates cryptography and steganography. The proposed method first encrypts the secret message using the Camellia-256 algorithm in Electronic Codebook (ECB) mode with PKCS#7 padding. The resulting ciphertext is then embedded into the cover image using the Least Significant Bit (LSB) steganography technique. From a practical standpoint, this design provides defense-in-depth for covert communication: encryption preserves confidentiality even if the hidden payload is detected, while steganography reduces the likelihood that the encrypted content is flagged during transmission. This combination mitigates LSB’s weakness against statistical steganalysis by encrypting the payload into ciphertext, thereby reducing structured bit patterns that may otherwise facilitate statistical detection. System performance is quantitatively evaluated using two primary metrics: the Avalanche Effect to measure cryptographic strength and the Peak Signal-to-Noise Ratio (PSNR) to measure the visual imperceptibility of the stego-image. The experimental results demonstrate excellent cryptographic strength, evidenced by an average Avalanche Rate of 54.37%, indicating that minimal changes to the input result in significant changes to the output. Furthermore, the scheme exhibits excellent visual imperceptibility with an average PSNR of 75 dB, making the stego-image visually indistinguishable from the original cover image. It is concluded that the proposed hybrid scheme offers a robust and validated solution for secure message communication, combining content confidentiality through cryptography and message obfuscation through steganography, thus providing dual protection against cybersecurity threats.

Abstract

Simbang Wetan Village faces a dual challenge: the accumulation of unmanaged flannel waste from the local convection industry and the need to enhance household-level food security. This community service activity aimed to transfer appropriate technology in the form of an innovative aquaponics wick system that utilizes flannel waste as a key functional component. The method employed a participatory learning approach, combining presentations, hands-on practice, and discussions. This activity was conducted on September 8, 2025, at the Simbang Wetan Village Hall, involving 24 residents. The program's success was measured quantitatively using pre-test and post-test instruments. Data analysis revealed a highly significant improvement in understanding and skills. Specific knowledge regarding the function of flannel fabric as an aquaponics wick surged dramatically from 8.3% in the pre-test to 100% in the post-test. Similarly, practical understanding of assembling the system from recycled materials increased from 4.1% to 87.5%. These results indicate that the workshop was highly effective in transferring knowledge and shifting the community's paradigm towards waste management. The broader adoption of this technology at the household level, along with continuous mentoring, is recommended to ensure program sustainability.
