Abstract

The Talumelito waste storage area is located in Talumelito Village, Telaga Biru District, Gorontalo Regency which accommodates waste from various human activities. Organic and inorganic waste will become a breeding ground for diseases that are very dangerous for society and the environment. The purpose of this study was to determine the subsurface layer as an interpretation of the planning for the construction of a waste storage area and determine whether it is feasible or not. The resistivity geoelectric method of the Schlumberger configuration is one of the geophysical methods that is easy, inexpensive and efficient and does not damage the environment. The geoelectric method is a geophysical method used to identify the properties and physical conditions of the subsurface based on the resistivity values of the rock. This method utilizes variations in the resistivity values of the subsurface rocks to detect geological structures or subsurface rock formations. Based on an analysis of resistivity and geological electrical properties, the location of the planning for the construction of a waste storage area is at VES 2, VES 3, and VES 5 points. Where from the interpretation results the three VES points have bedrock rock layers with granite rock types. Meanwhile, at VES 1 and VES 4, there is a layer of sandstone under the top soil layer. VES 2, VES 3 and VES 5 points are suitable for waste storage because there are layers of waterproof rock. Whereas at VES 1 and VES 4 points it is not suitable for waste storage because the sandstone layer is a layer that has good permeability, so if there is liquid waste from garbage, the waste will contaminate groundwater.

Abstract

This study explores the geological conditions and the depth of landslide slip surfaces in Garapia Village, North Gorontalo Regency, using Electrical Resistivity Tomography (ERT). By analyzing stratigraphy and geoelectrical data, the research aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of subsurface structures and their implications for landslide risks. Stratigraphic analysis reveals two primary geological units: weathered basalt, characterized by its grayish-black color, and alluvial deposits, indicating ongoing sedimentation. Structural analysis shows a Northeast-Southwest alignment, reflecting tectonic influences that may impact slope stability. ERT measurements identify three subsurface layers with varying resistivities: soil (10.6 – 783 Ωm), basalt (783 – 41,867 Ωm), and andesite (41,867 – 244,307 Ωm). A significant slip surface detected at depths of 9.85 to 18.7 meters shows low resistivity (4.75 – 48.1 Ωm), suggesting clay that is prone to landslides. The study highlights ERT's effectiveness in accurately identifying slip surface depths, offering valuable insights for landslide risk assessment and mitigation. This approach provides enhanced precision compared to traditional methods, thus improving disaster planning and risk management.

Dambalo is a village located in Tomilito sub-district, North Gorontalo Regency, Gorontalo Province. This study aims to identify and describe the geological characteristics of the Dambalo area and its surroundings. The study focuses on geomorphology, stratigraphy, geological structure, and geological potential. The methods used include field observation and laboratory analysis. Field observations include geological mapping, rock sampling, and measuring geological structures using a geological compass. Meanwhile, laboratory analysis was carried out to determine the mineral composition, rock texture and rock name through petrography and stratigraphic analysis. The results of the study indicate that the study area is stratigraphically composed of the oldest to the youngest lithological units, namely porphyry andesite units, volcanic breccias, and alluvial deposits. The dominant geological structure is tensile fractures (tension fractures) with three main orientations. The geological potential in this area includes C-type mining materials, which mainly consist of porphyry andesite rocks, which have economic value for the construction industry. However, this area also has the potential for landslide hazards, namely in areas with steep slopes. This research is expected to contribute to the management of natural resources and mitigation of geological landslide disasters in Dambalo and its surroundings.

Abstract

Reservoir rocks are characterized by their ability to allow water to infiltrate beneath the surface, enabling them to store and transmit fluids due to their permeability. Porosity refers to the presence of pores or void spaces within rocks, which determines their capacity to store fluids. Therefore, the porosity of a rock plays a significant role in the volume of liquid or gas it can contain. The study area is located within the Ql Formation, and no prior research has been conducted on limestone reservoir rocks in Buhudaa Village, Batudaa Pantai Subdistrict, Gorontalo Regency. The research covers an area of approximately 3.3 km², including the villages of Buhudaa, Bongo, and Lopo. This study aims to map the geological conditions of the Buhudaa area and analyze the lithological characteristics and quality of limestone as a groundwater reservoir. The methods employed include petrographic analysis and specific gravity testing. The results indicate that the geomorphological conditions of the area consist of structural and low-structural hills. The limestone was classified into three lithofacies: Mudstone, Wackestone, and Packstone. Geological structures were identified using linear lineament analysis, which distinguished ridges and valleys. The dominant orientation of these features trends northeast–southwest. Based on Koesoemadinata’s (1980) classification, the quality of limestone as a reservoir rock in the study area ranges from fair to very good.

Abstract

This study examines the geological conditions and slope stability of segments IG1 and IG2 in the Magazine access area of the Pani Gold Project, Pohuwato Regency. The research methods include geological mapping, scanline analysis, kinematic evaluation using stereonet, and Rock Mass Rating (RMR) and Slope Mass Rating (SMR) assessments. Segment IG1 consists of volcanic breccia with an RMR value of 57 (Class III, Fair Rock) and an SMR value of 45–50 (Poor), indicating wedge failure potential. Segment IG2 is dominated by dacite with an RMR of 60 (Class III, Fair Rock) and an SMR of 55–60 (Fair–Good), showing a tendency toward toppling failure. The results suggest that IG2 is relatively more stable than IG1, although localized failures may occur. Technical recommendations include slope reinforcement with rock bolts, shotcrete, and drainage systems to minimize slope failure risks.
