Abstract

Low critical thinking skills among elementary school students regarding abstract concepts, such as Earth and Moon movements, present a significant challenge in implementing the Merdeka Curriculum, which emphasizes critical reasoning. This study aims to analyze the influence of Assemblr EDU-based Augmented Reality (AR) on enhancing the critical thinking skills of sixth-grade students. A quasi-experimental method with a non-equivalent pre-test post-test control group design was utilized, involving 56 students divided into experimental (n=28) and control (n=28) groups. Data collection instruments included critical thinking tests and observation sheets, followed by statistical analysis using Wilcoxon, Mann-Whitney, and N-Gain Score tests. The findings revealed a substantial disparity in outcomes; the experimental group achieved a mean post-test score of 91.25, significantly higher than the control group's 57.86. Furthermore, the N-Gain analysis showed that Assemblr EDU reached an effectiveness level of 84.7% (High category), whereas the control group only attained 27.9% (Low category). These results demonstrate that 3D visualization through AR effectively bridges the cognitive transition from the concrete operational to the abstract thinking stages. Consequently, this study provides a strong recommendation for educational practitioners to integrate AR-based media into Science (IPAS) instruction to foster students' analytical, inferential, and evaluative competencies optimally at the primary education level.

Abstract

Abstract

Global environmental crises such as climate change, pollution, and biodiversity loss demand a paradigm shift in education that focuses not only on cognitive aspects but also on character building and ecological awareness. Primary education plays a strategic role in instilling sustainability values from an early age through an integrative approach. This study aims to analyze the role of philosophy of science in the development of eco-pedagogy as a foundation for strengthening sustainable character education in elementary schools. The research uses a literature review method with the following stages: (1) searching for scientific articles through relevant national and international databases; (2) selecting sources based on the suitability of the themes of philosophy of science, ecopedagogy, and character education; and (3) conceptual analysis and thematic synthesis. The results of the study show that ontologically, ecopedagogy views humans as an integral part of the ecosystem; epistemologically, environmental knowledge is constructed through reflective, contextual, and critical learning; and axiologically, education is directed at forming moral responsibility and concern for the environment. The integration of philosophy of science in ecopedagogy strengthens the integration between knowledge, values, and ecological actions of students. In practical terms, elementary school teachers can design environment-based thematic learning, use reflective methods and contextual projects, and instill environmental ethics values in daily learning activities. Thus, eco-pedagogy based on the philosophy of science contributes significantly to shaping the character of students to be sustainable and ecologically aware.

Abstract

The development of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology in the Society 5.0 era has a significant impact on various aspects of human life, particularly related to algorithmic bias, privacy, autonomy, and social justice. This study aims to analyze the moral implications of AI through a philosophy of science approach. The research method employs a descriptive qualitative approach with a literature review focusing on the analysis of literature related to ethics in AI development. The findings indicate that ensuring AI functions ethically in the Society 5.0 era requires a comprehensive and humanistic ethical framework. Responsible and sustainable AI development requires an emphasis on fundamental ethical principles such as fairness, transparency, accountability, and responsibility. Ethical theories such as utilitarianism, deontology, and virtue ethics provide guidance to ensure that AI is used fairly, inclusively, and beneficially for all of society. This study also demonstrates that the implementation of AI without ethical considerations and adequate regulation can lead to negative impacts such as exacerbating social inequality, compromising individual privacy, and threatening personal freedom.

Abstract

Indonesia's education system is facing a crisis that represents one of the most significant challenges in achieving a globally competitive society. This issue has evolved into an anomaly and even a crisis, encompassing aspects such as teaching quality, infrastructure, and the lack of curriculum relevance to contemporary challenges and demands. These factors highlight the urgent need for systemic reform and comprehensive transformation in education to cultivate a generation that is excellent, competent, globally competitive, and, most importantly, possesses noble character. This study aims to examine the crises in the education sector and explore innovative solutions to address these challenges through Thomas Kuhn's perspective on paradigm revolutions. The research employs a literature review method (library research) to source relevant and high-quality materials to produce a well-founded analysis. The findings reveal that various small paradigms have been proposed to address the existing education crisis in Indonesia. These emerging paradigms offer incremental solutions to tackle the issues within the education system, though they have yet to establish a new normal science framework.
