Abstract

Syarofal Anam pada dasarnya adalah penyajian vokal salawatan atau puji-pujian kepada Allah dan Nabi Muhammad SAW yang disertai dengan permainan alat musik terbangan dan dalam penyajiannya ketiga elemen ini (vokal, alat musik terbangan dan Rodat) saling berkaitan. Permasalahan pada penelitian ini terkait dengan bagaimana fungsionalisme struktural Syarofal Anam yang ada pada Sanggar An-Najjam Kota Palembang. Pendekatan yang diterapkan penelitian ini adalah interdisplin, yang melibatkan disiplin ilmu sosiologi dan musikologi. Metode yang digunakan adalah kualitatif. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah observasi, wawancara, dan studi dokumen. Teknik keabsahan data secara utama menggunakan triangulasi sumber. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan adalah analisis isi dan analisis data interaktif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan, Syarofal Anam pada Sanggar An-Najjam dan masyarakat Palembang saling fungsional yang masing-masing mempunyai harapan demi keberlangsungan Syarofal Anam. Syarofal Anam menjadi kebutuhan estetik yang fungsional bagi masyarakat Kota Palembang.

Abstract

Fenomena berkesenian di sanggar Ar Rumi menjadi hal yang menarik terhadap Madihin.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis dan memahami tindakan sosial dalam penyajian Madihin. Metode yang digunakan adalah kualitatif dengan pendekatan sosiologi. Teknik pengumpulan data meliputi observasi, wawancara, dan studi dokumen. Teknik keabsahan data menggunakan teknik triangulasi dan teknik analisis data yang digunakan mengikuti langkah analisis model interaktif. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa Madihin digital di sanggar Ar Rumi terbentuk karena adanya tindakan-tindakan yang dilakukan oleh sanggar Ar Rumi dimana tindakan tersebut menghasilkan suatu interaksi sosial yang meliputi kontak sosial dan komunikasi secara antara pamadihinan dan penikmat.

Abstract

The music of Gambus is a musical that has Middle East style and identic with Islamic nuances, from song lyrics, dances to musical instruments that are used rhythmically, as well as melodic songs with unique characteristics possessed by stringed instrument, namely Gambus. This study aimed to analyze the form and structure of Gambus music in the Al-Mubarok studio at Palembang city. The method used a qualitative research case study design. The research data were collected through observation, interview, and documentation techniques and also using triangulation techniques in testing the credibility of the data. In the process of analyzing data, the data validation technique was carried out through several stages, namely reduction, presentation of data, and drawing conclusions. The results of this study were to provide knowledge and become a reference for Gambus music consisting of two elements of time and melody. Meanwhile, the structure of Gambus music had repeated sentences and periods. The researcher hopes this research can be useful for the public and readers who want to know the oldest Gambus music studio in Palembang city that still maintains the authenticity of their ancestor’s art in Sriwijaya.

Abstract

People's appreciation of traditional art can be influenced by the views of the community. This study aims to examine the appreciation of Ngloho santri society towards Kubrosiswo Bintang Mudo Arts. This research uses qualitative method. The approach used is a contextual approach or how to understand a phenomenon by connecting it to other phenomena in a particular culture. In the context of this research, problem solving is placed within the socio-cultural context of Ngloho santri society.The appreciation of Ngloho santri society towards Kubrosiswo Bintang Mudo art splits into two, namely the young and the old group. Kubrosiswo Bintang Mudo since its inception in Ngloho Hamlet in 1989 was supported by a group of young people because of the desire to fulfill their aesthetic needs for a traditional art form that can represent their identity. This art for young people is understood as a symbol of trends, progress and modernity. The old group tends to keep a distance to this art. For them this art is considered jogedan art that is understood as the symbol of abangan art. In addition, the existence of pre-show and trance ritual sessions for the old group is considered to have come out of the Islamic faith.

Abstract

Randai Kuantan is a performing art consisting of art elements, such as, theater, dance, and music from social phenomenon and combination of traditional art of Kuantan Singingi society. Art is a cultural expression of a society that has various functions in accordance with the interests and the condition of the societies. The purpose of this research is to analyze the influence of social change on the form of performance in Randai Kuantan. The science used is Sociology for explaining the factors which influence social change in a society. The method used was interpretative qualitative, and data collection technique was by observation, interview, and document study with primary and secondary data sources. Technique of data validity was by sources triangulation, and the technique of data analysis was by data reduction, presentation, and verification data. The resarch was located in Kuantan Singingi Riau. The social changes are influenced by 2 (two) factors, outside and inside factors and then relates to the role of education, religion, economy, tribes, and social environment of Kuantan Singingi societies. Those factors change the form of Randai Kuantan art including time of performance, members, the location of performance, make up, and costumes. The application of traditional art media are attempts being made to foster awareness of the values and norms that exist in society. In the process of application aspects of the values found in the art of Randai Kuantan is expected to be established and raises awareness for consumer demand. As for the arts as a form of cultural expression community have diverse functions fit the interests and circumstances of society. But basically there are also elements which govern the system of values which formed the society rules, norms, conventions that act as guidelines to achieve the goal. So the arts directly has affected the values and norms that are structurally brings social change on the form of artistry Randai Kuantan. Based on the existing social values were associated in an attempt the formation of individual character in a social environment.

Abstract

This research raises the problem about an art group located in Pati Central Java named Orkes Puisi Sampak Gusuran. The group has created the art of musical poetry. The purpose of this study was to obtain a picture of the form of creativity and symbolic meaning of the work of the Orkes Puisi Sampak Gusuran for the society of art consumer. This research used qualitative method and used an interdisciplinary approach to find out the symbolic meaning, using symbolic interaction theory. The data collection techniques used are interviews, observation, and document studies. The results of this study indicate that; 1)there are poetry reading techniques must be maintained in order to maintain the meaning of the deepest meaning of a poetry to be away from melodic readings such as language in a songs, although the music as a companion is still presented as a builder of nuance 2)the syllable of poetry can be widened or narrow to adjust to music without reducing the essence of his poetry. From the mixing of instruments, musical genres and mixed arrangements, a new musical arrangement is created that is sometimes undetectable in its genre. This is where the originality the work of Orkes Puisi Sampak Gusuran, where the arrangement sounded flowing, following the atmosphere of poetry, strengthen it into music that is different from others but still strong as a music or as a poetry. Meanwhile the symbolic meaning that can be concluded is: 1)works of poetry Orkes Puisi Sampak Gusuran symbolize life that occurred in society and also a relation to God 2)the use of traditional instruments is a relationship with the ancestors who remain woven in the present.

Abstract

Senggol Tromol is a parody music group from Semarang, most of their songs are representation of phenomenon which is trending in society for a certain period of time. The phenomenon would only last for a certain period of time because of social change happens in the society. The purpose of this study is to analyze the creative process and the social change which happen to Senggol Tromol. This study used qualitative method with observation, interview, and documentation as the method of collecting data. The methods of data analysis were data collection, data presentation, data reduction, and data verification. The results of the study show that in the creative process, Senggol Tromol did not always create new works, but they also modified existing ones. The steps were searching for inspiration, gathering ideas, determining the target listener, determining the themes, creating song structure and arrangement. The social change happens in Senggol Tromol went along with the presence of digital music platform which replaced physical release era, used by them as the promotion media to sell their works digitally.

Abstract

Didong Jalu is a traditional art from Aceh Tengah (central aceh) that performs 2 (two) Didong group in one performance. Didong Jalu is an art that combines vocal and motion art with a small pillow as the property. Didong Jalu is also used as a medium of communication among societies from different ethnics. The problems of the research are (1) How is the Didong Jalu performance of Kampung Toweren societies, Takengon Central aceh Regency if it is reviewed from Entomusicology?, (2) How is Didong Jalu performance used as a medium of cultural communication by Kampung Toweren societies, Takengon, Central aceh Regency?. The research method is qualitative with interdicipline approach. The research design is case study, this research is only applicable for where the research was held. The research location is Kampung Toweren Takengon, Central aceh Regency. The research focused on Didong Jalu performance with performance concept and communication concept. The source of data was primary data involving artists, literature documents, and public figure, while the secondary data involves books, and references from previous research.the data collection techniques are observation, interview, and study document. The technique of data validity used data triangulation. Data analysis techniques consist of reduction, data presentation, data verification. The results of the research was that Didong Jalu performance observed used 2 (two) concepts, they are concept presented by Sal Murgiyanto, involving (a) beginning parts, (b) core parts, (c) final parts; (d) rhythm, (e) melody. Didong Jalu performance as a cultural communication can be seen clearly from the elements which influence communication system presented by Alo Liliweri, such as, Didong Jalu as a communicator, communicant, message, media, effect, athmosphere, and disturbance.

Abstract

Performance art”Kethuk Roso” is a form of spontaneity of body action as a media of expression that presents the stretching of the spirituality of the artist to knock the sense of audience to interpret the morality. This study aims to describe the visual form and characteristics of performance “Kethuk Roso” by Fenny Rochbeind. This research used qualitative method with interdisciplinary approach. The source of the data used primary and secondary data through observation, interview, and documentary techniques. The validaty data technique used source of triangulation and the analysis technique data is done with performance art theory by RoseLee Goldberg. The result shows that performance art of “Kethuk Roso” is a multidisciplinary in the form of non-profit art genre that primarily focuses on the body as a media expression that directly conveys a dialogical message between the performer and the audience in the form of action communication. The researcher expects that through appreciation of performance art “Kethuk Roso” is important to be known by the public especially for art educators to understand, appreciate, and apply the contemporary art form which gives new color and meaning in art and to support the development of basic competence in art education. The research findings that Kethuk Roso performance art is able to knock everybody's sense of responding to cases of physical violence. Performance art Kethuk Roso proves its manifestation as a contemporary art shows the actual and factual events which gives new colors and meaning.

Abstract

Gamelan Truntung is one of traditional arts in Magelang. This art derives from a mixture of Truntung with a set of gamelan instruments. Truntung is a musical instrument to accompany or facilitate Soreng dance which is also a traditional art in Magelang. The problem of the research is to answer how the structural functionalism of Gamelan Truntung Art is. The research is conducted to know, to analyze, and to describe the structural functionalism of gamelan Truntung art. Meanwhile, the research method applied is a qualitative method using monodisciplinary approach. The techniques used to collect the data needed in writing this article are obervation, interview, and document study. Then, the validity of the data collected is checked by applying data triangulation technique. The type of triangulation data used is the triangulation data of the resources which uses data analysis technique comprising of three steps, namely data reduction, data presentation, anda data verification. Gamelan Truntung art is considered as a system which has some parts that influence and are functional to each otherKesenian Truntung. The man in charge of the art studi or sanggar has run his function well, but in fact, there is a latent function which gives disadvantages to Gamelan Truntung art. The other part experience disfunction which hinders the development of Gamelan Truntung art. Gamelan Truntung can be maintained by giving attentions to the following, namely the artist creativity which must be elevated by having no dependency on Mr. Riyadi as the man in charge, and some hindering idealism which must be able to be set aside for the development and the progress of the art studio and its art.
