Abstract

Abstract

This study aims to identify and analyze the types of errors made by students in solving Mathematical Induction problems using Kastolan's theory. The analysis results are expected to clarify the specific difficulties faced by students and serve as a basis for improving the quality of mathematics education at the higher education level. This research employs a descriptive qualitative approach with ten sixth-semester students from the Mathematics Education Study Program at Universitas Negeri Medan as subjects. Data were collected through written tests, interviews, and documentation, and analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model, which includes data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The results show that students made three main types of errors: procedural errors (50%), technical errors (27.27%), and conceptual errors (22.72%). Procedural errors were the most dominant, indicating a lack of understanding of the systematic steps required in inductive proofs. The primary cause of these errors was the students' insufficient comprehension of mathematical induction material during lectures. Therefore, a learning approach that emphasizes understanding logical structures and proof procedures is necessary to enhance the quality of mathematics instruction in higher education.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the influence of inflation and exports on Indonesia's economic growth within the periodization of 1988-2023. A quantitative method was applied through multiple linear regression analysis to explore the relationship between independent variables (inflation and exports) and the dependent variable (economic growth). Secondary data sources were obtained from the World Bank. Empirical tests revealed that inflation shows a significant negative contribution to economic growth, while exports did not display statistically meaningful influence. With a determination coefficient of 55.3%, this research model indicates that inflation and export variables are capable of explaining most of the variability in the context of economic growth, with several residual factors potentially influenced by external variables in the international market. This study provides substantive implications for economic policy, with emphasis on mechanisms for controlling the national economic dynamics of Indonesia.

Abstract

This study aims to examine whether the use of the Text Twist Game can improve the vocabulary mastery of seventh-grade students at SMP Negeri 15 Palu. A quasi-experimental research design was employed involving two groups: an experimental group and a control group. The study used quantitative research with purposive sampling. Class VII A with 30 students was the experimental group, and Class VII B with 30 students was the control group. A vocabulary test was used as the instrument for data collection, administered both before (pre-test) and after (post-test) the treatment. The experimental group received instruction using a Text Twist Game, while the control group was taught using an explanation technique. The findings show that the post-test mean score of the experimental group is 56.33 while the control group’s post test mean score is 30. Additionally, the statistical analysis revealed that the value of the t-counted is greater (97.20) than the value of the t-table (0.117). It indicates that the vocabulary mastery of the experimental group outperformed that of the control group after getting treatment. In other words, the use of Text Twist Game is effective to improve students’ vocabulary mastery.

Abstract

This research method uses a quantitative approach and the type of research is a quasi-experiment. The research design used is a quasi-experiment with a 2 x 2 factorial with a 2-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) technique. This test validation sheet consists of three components, namely content, construction, and language use. The data analysis technique used in this study is the inferential statistical technique. Hypothesis testing in this study was carried out using the analysis of variance (ANOVA) test with a 2 x 3 test and a significance level of 0.05. Before the ANOVA test was carried out, the analysis requirements test was first carried out, namely the normality test and the data homogeneity test. This study is a quasi-experimental study by comparing the mathematical communication skills of students taught with a realistic mathematical approach compared to the mathematical communication skills of students taught with ordinary learning. In addition, this study also looks at the comparison of students' mathematical communication skills based on the level of emotional intelligence possessed by students, while the data on students' emotional intelligence was obtained through an emotional intelligence questionnaire given during the study.

Abstract

This community service research aims to improve the spatial skills of elementary school students through local wisdom-based geometry learning with geoboard media. The main problem faced is the low understanding of students towards geometry concepts due to the abstract and less contextual learning approach. The method used is Participatory Action Research (PAR) which actively involves teachers and students in planning, implementation, and evaluation. The activity was carried out at UPTD SDN 014686 Sidomulyo, with the participation of 90 grade III students. The results showed a significant increase in students' spatial skills: 88% of students found it easier to understand geometric shapes, 91% showed active involvement, and 94% hoped that this method would continue to be used. In addition, 100% of teachers stated that this method was effective and increased their confidence in teaching. The use of geoboards and the integration of local cultural motifs have been proven to create contextual, enjoyable, and meaningful learning experiences. The conclusion of this activity is that local wisdom-based geometry learning with the help of geoboards is effective in improving students' spatial skills and is relevant to be applied widely

Abstract

The excessive application of inorganic fertilizers in agriculture leads to environmental degradation, necessitating sustainable alternatives. This study evaluated the effectiveness of liquid organic fertilizer (LOF) formulated from banana peel, mango peel, and rice washing water on the vegetative growth of Ipomoea reptans. The research employed a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with four treatment concentrations: 0 ml/L (control), 10 ml/L, 20 ml/L, and 30 ml/L, each replicated three times. Growth parameters assessed at 21 days after planting included plant height, number of leaves, number of roots, and fresh weight. Laboratory analysis revealed nutrient content of 0.04% nitrogen, 0.17% phosphorus, and 3.04% potassium, indicating a potassium-dominant formulation. The 10 ml/L treatment resulted in the highest plant height (18.00 cm), while the 30 ml/L treatment yielded the highest leaf number (9.33) and fresh weight (0.47 g). However, one-way ANOVA showed no statistically significant differences (p > 0.05) among treatments. The novelty of this research lies in utilizing a combination of commonly discarded household organic waste as a low-cost biofertilizer with measurable nutrient content. Although short-term results were statistically insignificant, the formulation demonstrates potential for refinement and longer application in sustainable agriculture

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the determinants of employment opportunities in West Sumatra Province during the period 2017 to 2023. The approach used is quantitative, employing panel data regression methods and utilizing secondary data from the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS). The variables analyzed include economic growth, education level, wages, and investment across 19 regencies/cities in West Sumatra Province. The estimation results show that simultaneously, economic growth, education level, wages, and investment collectively influence the increase in employment opportunities. Partially, economic growth has a positive and significant effect on increasing employment opportunities. Conversely, the education level shows a positive but not significant effect, while wages have a negative effect, and investment has a positive but not significant effect on employment opportunities. These findings indicate that economic growth plays a crucial role in generating employment opportunities, whereas the other variables have not yet demonstrated a strong contribution. Therefore, active government involvement is required to enhance employment opportunities, including through labor-intensive sectors that can absorb a large workforce.
