Abstract

This study aimed to measure the effect of using mind map learning media on the critical thinking skills of early childhood children, as well as to analyze the differences in critical thinking skills before and after the implementation of mind map learning media. This study employed a pre-experimental research design with a pretest-posttest on one experimental group consisting of group B children at TK Negeri 1 Labuapi. Data on children's critical thinking skills were collected through observation and documentation, then analyzed using the N-Gain test and hypothesis testing to determine the effectiveness level of using mind maps. The results showed a significant effect of using mind map learning media on improving the critical thinking skills of early childhood children, evidenced by an average N-Gain value of 0.72, indicating a high level of effectiveness and significant hypothesis test results (p < 0.05). Furthermore, there was a significant difference between the pretest and posttest results, reinforcing this finding. Thus, mind map learning media has an impact on the critical thinking skills of early childhood children. Therefore, it is recommended to implement this media more widely in the learning process at the early childhood education level to create a more interactive, enjoyable, and meaningful learning experience for children.

Abstract

This research aimed to implement STEAM-based project learning and measure its effect on the creativity of Group B1 children at the Mataram Model State Kindergarten. This Classroom Action Research (CAR) employed the Kemmis and McTaggart model, conducted in two cycles, with each cycle consisting of two meetings. The research procedures included planning, action implementation, observation, and reflection. The subjects of this study were all 8 children (5 boys and 3 girls) from Group B1 at the Mataram Model State Kindergarten. Data analysis was performed using descriptive qualitative techniques. The research findings indicated a significant increase in children's creativity after the implementation of STEAM-based project learning. The implementation of STEAM-based project learning achieved a 53.3% success rate in Cycle I, which further increased to 86.6% in Cycle II. Concurrently, children's creativity levels rose from 37.5% in the pre-cycle to 62.5% in Cycle I, and ultimately to 87.5% in Cycle II. The intervention was deemed successful as it met the achievement level indicator of 76.0%. Therefore, it can be concluded that the application of STEAM-based project learning effectively enhances the creativity of children in Group B1 at the Mataram Model State Kindergarten.

Abstract

Teacher well-being is a critical factor influencing both mental health and instructional quality. This study aims to examine the relationship between well-being levels and mental health among early childhood education (ECE) teachers in Selaparang District. A quantitative correlational research design was employed, with a sample of 68 ECE teachers selected from a population of 217 using Slovin's formula. Data were collected via well-being and mental health questionnaires, which were validated using Aiken’s V and reliability-tested with Cronbach’s Alpha. The data were analyzed using simple linear regression. The results revealed a regression coefficient of 0.591 with a significance level of p < 0.001 (p < 0.05), indicating a strong, positive, and significant relationship between well-being and mental health. These findings suggest that higher levels of perceived well-being are associated with better mental health outcomes among teachers. Furthermore, the coefficient of determination (R2) was 0.335, indicating that well-being contributes 33.5% to the mental health of ECE teachers, while other factors influence the remaining 66.5%. Consequently, the null hypothesis (H0) is rejected, and the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted.

Abstract

This study investigates the role of Early Childhood Education (ECE) teachers in detecting and addressing mental health issues among young children in Kindergarten Cluster II, Seteluk District. Employing a quantitative approach with a survey design, data were collected through questionnaires distributed to 44 teachers across 16 kindergartens. The data were analyzed using simple linear regression with SPSS 30.0. The results indicate that the teacher's role significantly influences the detection and management of mental health problems in early childhood. A regression coefficient of -0.864 was obtained, indicating an inverse relationship: as the teacher's role increases, the level of mental health problems in children decreases. Furthermore, the R-Square value of 0.302 suggests that 30.2% of the variance in children's mental health issues is attributed to the teacher's role. Consequently, teachers play a pivotal role in identifying and mitigating mental health challenges. The study recommends continuous training and collaboration among teachers, parents, and professionals to foster a healthy, supportive environment for early childhood development.

This study aims to describe the implementation of the Numbered Heads Together (NHT) cooperative learning model in improving students’ cooperation in Indonesian language learning for third-grade students at SDN 12 Mataram. The background of this study is the lack of optimal student cooperation during the learning process, particularly in group discussions. This research employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive method. The research subjects were the teacher and 28 third-grade students of SDN 12 Mataram in the 2024/2025 academic year. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The results indicate that the implementation of the NHT cooperative learning model was able to create a more active, participatory, and collaborative learning environment. Students were directly involved in group discussions, able to exchange ideas, and demonstrated mutual respect and cooperation in completing tasks. The teacher acted as a facilitator who guided the discussion process and provided motivation. Overall, the application of the NHT model in Indonesian language learning has been proven to enhance cooperation among third-grade students at SDN 12 Mataram.

Abstract

The use of digital storybooks and the speaking ability of Group B children at TK Negeri Pembina Mataram are still underdeveloped. Therefore, engaging activities are needed to stimulate children’s speaking skills. This study aimed to examine the effect of using digital storybooks on the speaking ability of Group B children. The research employed a quantitative approach with an experimental method using a one-group pretest–posttest design involving 20 children as subjects. Data were collected through observation and documentation techniques. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistical analysis and the paired sample t-test. The normality test of the difference between pretest and posttest scores showed a significance value of 0.512 (p > 0.05), indicating that the data were normally distributed and met the assumption of normality. The linearity test resulted in a significance value of 0.891 (p > 0.05), indicating a linear relationship in the data. Hypothesis testing using the paired sample t-test yielded a t-value of 42.67 with a significance value of 0.00. Since the significance value was lower than the 5% significance level, the null hypothesis (H₀) was rejected. Thus, it can be concluded that the use of digital storybooks has a significant effect on the speaking ability of Group B children at TK Negeri Pembina Mataram.
