Abstract

Energy efficiency is a crucial aspect of energy saving efforts. Energy efficiency is an important factor in reducing energy consumption and environmental impacts. One of the important steps that can be taken in achieving energy efficiency is to conduct an energy audit. An energy audit is a systematic process to evaluate energy use in a building and identify energy saving opportunities that can be done. RETSCreen Expert is one of the software that can be used for energy audits. This research focuses on analyzing the comparison between manual calculations and calculations using RETScreen Expert software on building energy efficiency. The factors used to analyze energy efficiency are air conditioning systems, room lighting systems, and the use of other electronic devices, over a one-year period. The analysis results show that there are differences in calculations between the use of manual methods and RETScreen Expert. The difference between manual calculation and RETScreen Expert is 15.42%. With this difference, it is assumed that manual calculations and calculations using RETScreen Expert do not have too much difference. The results of the energy audit also show that the air conditioning system (HVAC) is a major contributor to the building's energy consumption.

Abstract

Thermodynamics is considered one of the most complex and challenging subjects for many students. This is primarily due to comprehending abstract concepts such as entropy, enthalpy, and energy flow, which involve complex mathematical equations and are rarely accompanied by tangible visualizations. This research aims to design, develop, and test a data-based visualization tool for thermodynamics testing results. This study collected and processed data from thermodynamics testing and simulations, such as the mini-steam power plant trainer used as a teaching aid in thermodynamics education, as the foundation for designing a data-based visualization tool for thermodynamics concepts. The visualization tool was created using the Python programming language integrated with the web-based Streamlit framework. The designed visualization tool encompasses various features, including automated data reporting, visualization of variable correlations using correlation heatmaps, Sankey diagrams for visualizing energy flow, and the capability to predict electrical output using machine learning integrated with three different machine learning algorithms. The visualization tool was evaluated by thermodynamics experts using a Likert scale. Based on the results obtained, the experts gave an average score of 4 in the information accuracy aspect in the good category. This shows that the information displayed in this visualization tool is by thermodynamics learning at Padang State University. In the visualization aspect, experts gave an average score of 4.25, which is in the Good and Very Good range. In alignment with the education aspect, experts gave an average score of 3.75, which is close to the good category. This shows that this aspect is considered suitable for studying thermodynamics, although shortcomings still need to be corrected. Experts gave a relatively high assessment of the Ease-of-Use aspect, with an average score of 4.5, with a range of Good and Very Good. This enables students to better understand complex patterns, cause-and-effect relationships, and parameter changes within thermodynamics concepts.

Abstract

Indonesia merupakan salah satu negara yang terletak di garis khatulistiwa sehingga beriklim tropis yang memiliki dua musim yaitu musim hujan dan musim kemarau. Suhu harian di Indonesia sendiri bisa mencapai suhu 35ºC atau bahkan lebih dengan suhu yang berfluktuasi antara 29ºC sampai 36ºC dengan kelembaban antara 70-80%, Sehingga membutuhkan alat pengkondisian udara, salah satunya Air Conditioner. Air Conditioner atau biasa yang dikenal dengan AC merupakan sebuah proses memindahkan udara panas dari ruangan tertutup untuk mendapatkan kondisi ruangan yang lebih nyaman dan pada beberapa kasus juga digunakan untuk mengatur dan menjaga kelembaban udara di ruangan tersebut. Beberapa jenis AC yang diketahui adalah AC Split Wall, AC Floor Standing, AC Cassette, AC Central, AC Window dan Jenis AC VRV (Variabel Refrigerant Volume). Pada penelitian ini, Penulis akan berfokus pada ac yang sering dipakai dirumahan kota padang yaitu AC Split Wall. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah menguji pengaruh udara pendingin terhadap Coefficient of Performance (COP) alat simulasi AC Split Komersial. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah eksperimen. Hasil dari penelitian ini telah dilakukan menunjukkan bahwa COP maximum yang didapat adalah 13.01, dengan suhu udara lingkungan diantara 26.9 – 27.9 °C dan COP minimum adalah sebesar 12.22, dengan suhu lingkungan 30.4 – 34.4 °C. dapat disimpulkan bahwa pengaruh yang diberikan oleh udara pendingin sangat berdampak, semakin dingin udara pendingin, maka semakin optimal COP yang didaptakan

Abstract

Sektor energi sangat berpengaruh terhadap aktifitas masyarakat seperti kegiatan rumah tangga, sosial budaya, industri, perdangan, dll. Pada tahun 2021, meskipun rasio elektrifikasi Provinsi Sumatera Barat sudah mencapai 98.81%, penyediaan energi listrik tetap menjadi salah satu prioritas pembangunan. Sebenarnya Indonesia memiliki potensi cadangan energi baru terbarukan yang besar seperti radiasi matahari, energi angin, energi air, biomassa, dll. Namun pengembangan teknologi pembangkit energi baru terbarukan belum maksimal karena tingginya biaya investasi dan perawatan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melakukan rancang bangun sebuah pembangkit listrik tenaga piko hidro. Berdasarkan hasil analisis karakteristik aliran dan kondisi lapangan jenis turbin air yang sesuai untuk head dan debit yang rendah adalah turbin aliran silang (cross flow). Pembangkit Listrik Piko Hidro ini diharapkan mampu memenuhi kebutuhan energi bagi beberapa kepala keluarga sehingga dapat meningkatkan produktifitas kerja, tingkat pendapatan dan kesehjateraan warga pada daerah pedalaman.

Abstract

Penyimpanan barang farmasi dalam gudang industri farmasi merupakan aspek penting untuk memastikan kualitas barang tetap terjaga hingga sampai ke tangan konsumen. Pengkondisian udara adalah salah satu faktor kunci dalam penyimpanan ini. Penelitian ini menguji prinsip exhaust fan sebagai alternatif pengkondisian udara untuk penyimpanan obat, dengan menggunakan panel surya sebagai sumber energi listrik alternatif. Alat ini berfungsi sebagai alat pengkondisian udara yang berfungsi untuk menciptakan sirkulasi udara yang sejuk dan segar dari luar ruangan sehingga dapat mereduksi suhu dalam ruangan. Metode penelitian ini adalah eksperimental dengan pengambilan data langsung pada perangkat yang telah dirancang. Data diperoleh dari empat variasi pengkondisian udara dengan menggunakan cooling fan sebagai penggerak udara. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan exhaust fan dengan bantuan panel surya mampu menghasilkan kondisi lingkungan yang sesuai untuk penyimpanan obat. Temperatur udara dalam ruangan exhaust fan terpantau dalam kisaran yang diinginkan dengan variasi suhu yang terukur lebih rendah daripada suhu lingkungan. Kelembapan udara juga terjaga dalam batas yang diinginkan. Efektivitas penggunaan panel surya dalam mengurangi konsumsi energi listrik pada exhaust fan juga terlihat, mengurangi dampak lingkungan dan biaya operasional. Dengan demikian, penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan exhaust fan dengan bantuan panel surya merupakan solusi yang efektif untuk pengkondisian udara dalam penyimpanan barang farmasi, dengan hasil yang menjanjikan untuk menjaga kualitas barang serta mengurangi dampak lingkungan.

Abstract

Penggunaan metode pembelajaran yang menarik dapat memotivasi belajar siswa dan dapat meningkatkan hasil belajar siswa. Penggunaan metode pembelajaran yang menarik dan menyenangkan dapat membuat suasana kelas menjadi lebih kondusif, aktif, dan menyenangkan. Salah satu metode pembelajaran yang dapat meningkatkan motivasi siswa untuk belajar agar hasilnya belajarnya efektif adalah lesson study berbasis case method. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui peningkatan hasil belajar pada mata pelajaran PDTM kelas X SMK Negeri 2 Solok melalui lesson study berbasis case method. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah penelitian tindakan kelas (PTK) yang terdiri dari dua siklus. Penelitian dilakukan pada siswa kelas X Jurusan Teknik Pemesinan di SMK Negeri 2 Solok tahun ajaran 2022/2023 yang berjumlah 24 orang. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya kenaikan dari siklus I ke siklus II. Pada siklus I ketuntasan klasikal siswa mencapai 66,6%, pada siklus II mengalami peningkatan menjadi 75,0%. Ketuntasan klasikal siswa dari siklus I ke siklus II mengalami peningkatan sebesar 8,4%. Sehingga dapat disimpulkan bahwa metode pembelajaran lesson study berbasis case method dapat meningkatkan hasil belajar siswa.

Abstract

This study is to provide valid, practical, and effective Android application-based interactive learning media for the Basics of Mechanical Engineering subject in class X Mechanical Engineering at SMK Dhuafa Padang. This medium is intended to boost students' comprehension, motivation, and independence, allowing them to achieve better learning outcomes. The research approach employed is Research and Development (R&D), using a 4D development model (define, design, develop and disseminate). The primary data utilized in this study came from validators, teachers, and students. Data was analyzed descriptively to characterize the validity, practicality and effectiveness of the learning media developed. The validity test findings show that this learning medium, which had a media aspect score of 0,892 and a material aspect score of 0,950, was deemed valid by expert review. This media was also declared practical with a practicality score of 96,94% from teacher responses and 92,25% from student responses. In the effectiveness test, the Gain Score was 0,68, placing it in the medium category. Meanwhile, the t-test shows a Sig value (2-tailed) of 0.002 (2-tailed < 0,05) and a tcount value of 3,372 (tcount ˃ ttable), indicating a significant difference in learning outcomes between students who use this learning media (experimental class) and those who do not use the media (control class). Thus, this Android application-based interactive learning media is declared valid, practical and effective for use in the DDTM learning process.

Abstract

Vocational education plays a critical role in preparing students to meet industry demands and enter the workforce effectively. This study aims to evaluate the One Heart Education Program in the Motorcycle Engineering and Business expertise competency at SMKN 1 Luak District, focusing on context, input, process, and product aspects, using the CIPP evaluation model. The study examines whether the program has been managed optimally. Employing a mixed-method approach, the research uses purposive sampling, involving 36 respondents, 26 for quantitative data and 10 as qualitative informants. Data collection methods include questionnaires and interviews. The evaluation results show that the program achieved an overall score of 72.24, categorized as sufficient, indicating suboptimal management. In detail, the context aspect related to program objectives is rated as poor, though the environmental aspect is good. The input, process, and product aspects are also found to be lacking. Key recommendations include optimizing the context aspect by refining program goals, adopting a centralized approach in the input aspect to explore students’ potential, enhancing the learning process in the process aspect to better align with industrial standards, and improving outcomes in the product aspect. These improvements aim to enhance the overall effectiveness and impact of the One Heart Education Program.

Abstract

This study was triggered by the existing teaching modules for the Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) subjects taught at vocational high schools, which do not align with the Freedom to Learn-Independent Campus (FLIC) learning objectives, and do not provide a systematic organization. In order to enhance the learning experience, this research developed a new learning module that integrated Problem-based Learning (PBL), promoting critical thinking, and the practical application of theoretical concepts, following the FLIC curriculum. Utilizing a Research and Development (R&D) approach with the Instructional Design Institute (IDI) model, this study involved two welding instructors and four lecturers as validators to assess the content and usability of the module. The IDI model comprised three steps: instructional (define), development (develop), and institute (evaluate). The research findings regarding the validity assessment by subject matter experts yielded a final validity score of 0.924, while media and language experts provided a score of 0.936, meeting the valid criteria. The practical usability test of the learning module resulted in a score of 94%, indicating that it is highly practical for students to use as learning media. Based on the validity and practicality assessments of the developed module, it can be concluded that the SMAW learning module is highly practical to use as teaching media, aligning with FLIC curriculum.

Abstract

The study aims to analyze the effect of Project Based Learning on learning motivation, creativity, critical thinking, and learning outcomes of students in the concrete work practice course at UNP. The research method used a Quasi-Experiment (Semi-Experiment) with a pretest-posttest control group design. The results of the study obtained a p-value of 0.00 < 0.05 or tcount > ttable with a value of (9.29 > 1.70) for learning motivation, a p-value of 0.00 < 0.05 or tcount > ttable with a value of (5.36 > 1.70) on student creativity, p = 0.00 < 0.05 or tcount > ttable with a value of (6.49 > 1.70) on critical thinking, and p-value = 0.00 < 0.05 or tcount > ttable with a value of (5.06 > 1.70) and (6.44 > 1.70) on cognitive and psychomotor learning outcomes. Thus, it is concluded that there is an effect of the project-based learning model on learning motivation, creativity, critical thinking, and learning outcomes of students in the PTB class at the Faculty of Engineering, Padang State University, Academic Year 2024/2025.
