Abstract

The use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology in education provides innovative solutions to challenges faced in the learning process, such as limited teaching resources, variations in student learning styles, and the need to improve motivation and learning productivity. Ya BAKII Kesugihan Senior High School (SMAYA), a boarding school-based in Kesugihan District, Cilacap Regency, Central Java Province, integrates general and religious education in a comprehensive manner. However, teachers at SMAYA still have limited mastery of AI (Chatgpt, Gamma, Wordwall, and Deppl), technology, while digital technology continues to develop rapidly. Therefore, specialized training on the appropriate use of AI technology in alignment with religious values and boarding school culture is necessary. This training aims to enable teachers at SMAYA to understand and master AI technology, implement it in more personalized and adaptive learning processes, and enhance students' motivation and productivity. As a result, it is hoped that the quality of education at SMAYA will improve, bridge the digital divide, and promote competitive education in the globalized era.

Abstract

This study aims to investigate the effect of the ratio of oil palm leaves to pandan leaves and the addition of different types of honey on the chemical and organoleptic characteristics of the resulting herbal drink, as well as to determine the best herbal drink formula. A Completely Randomized Block Design (CRBD) with two factors was used in this study. The first factor was the ratio of oil palm leaves to pandan leaves, consisting of three levels: (A1 = 70:30 w/w; A2 = 50:50 w/w; A3 = 30:70 w/w). The second factor was the addition of honey, with three types: (B1 = kapok honey; B2 = longan honey; B3 = forest honey). The results showed that the ratio of oil palm leaves to pandan leaves affected antioxidant activity, total phenolic content, total sugar content, and pH, but had no effect on color closeness based on chromameter tests, or the preference for color, taste, aroma, and appearance of the herbal drink. The addition of different types of honey affected antioxidant activity, total sugar content, and aroma preference, but had no effect on total phenolic content, pH, color closeness based on chromameter tests, or the preference for color, taste, and appearance of the herbal drink. The herbal drink with the highest antioxidant activity was produced at A1 (oil palm leaves to pandan leaves ratio = 70:30) and B3 (addition of forest honey), reaching 89.30%, with an average preference score of 4.78 (somewhat liked)

Abstract

Education in the 21st century requires innovative approaches that integrate technology and local wisdom to strengthen students’ science process skills (SPS). This study aims to develop, validate, and evaluate the effectiveness of ethno-vlog and virtual reality (VR) media based on the cultural context of Oyol tea in enhancing junior high school students’ SPS on ecology and biodiversity topics. Employing a research and development design with the 4D model (Define, Design, Develop, Disseminate), this study involved small-scale (n = 15) and large-scale (n = 32) trials with grade VII and VIII students at a junior high school in Indonesia. Data were collected through expert validation, student response questionnaires, observation sheets, and pre-post assessments of SPS. The results indicated that both media met the “very feasible” criteria from expert validators (average ≥ 87.5%) and received highly positive responses from students. Statistical analysis using N-gain (0.76, high category) and the Mann–Whitney test (p < 0.05) confirmed a significant improvement in students’ SPS, particularly in observation, prediction, inference, classification, measurement, and communication skills. These findings demonstrate that the integration of ethnoscience-based vlog and VR provides a meaningful, interactive, and culturally relevant learning experience. The study contributes to digital pedagogy by bridging local knowledge and advanced technologies, offering a scalable model for science education in developing countries. Future research may extend this approach to other cultural contexts and subject areas to strengthen broader applicability.

Abstract

Natural fiber-based composite materials are becoming an environmentally friendly alternative that continues to be developed due to their abundant availability, light weight, and low production costs. This study aims to determine the effect of volume fraction and fiber direction on the mechanical properties of empty oil palm fruit bunch (OPEFB) fiber-based composites, particularly impact toughness and flexural strength. The composite manufacturing process was carried out experimentally using hand lay-up and compression molding methods. OPEFB fibers were used as reinforcement and polyester resin as matrix, with the addition of MEKPO catalyst at 1% of the resin volume. Composites were varied based on fiber volume fraction (20%, 30%, and 40%) and fiber direction (0°, 45°, and 90°). Impact toughness testing was carried out using the Izod method referring to ASTM D256, while flexural strength was tested using the three-point bending method (ASTM D790). The results showed that a 30% volume fraction with a 0° fiber direction produced the highest flexural strength of 95.7 MPa, while a 40% volume fraction with a 45° direction showed the highest impact toughness of 28.1 kJ/m². Increasing the fiber volume fraction above 30% decreased the flexural strength due to fiber agglomeration. The 0° fiber direction was optimal for flexure, while 45° was most effective for absorbing impact energy.
