Abstract

This article will examine how social capital in rural areas, manifested through the citizen-help-citizen movement, has contributed to residents and village governments overcoming the crisis problems caused by the pandemic. There are two movements of citizens helping residents: the women's network at the neighborhood level and the roa guard roa movement. This research took place in rural Sigi, Central Sulawesi. Data collection was carried out through interviews using fieldwork. We frame these findings through the lens of Non-Governmental Innovation with a starting point in the social capital of citizens. We argue that non-governmental innovation has created natural disaster management. The experience of residents going from one disaster condition to another produces collective navigation for residents. They finally have some knowledge tools that can be used when facing a crisis, such as knowing what to do and how to do it. This knowledge tool helps governments at the village level in minimizing the risk of crisis due to disasters.

Abstract

Berdasarkan penelitian mochammad syaiful hadi dimadrasah yang saat ini masih menggunakan sistem pembuatan kartu pelajar dilakukan secara konvensional adalah MISSPA. Dimana kartu pelajar yang digunakan oleh siswa saat ini dibuat oleh percetakan diluar sekolah. Sistem pembuatan kartu pelajar dimana desain, percetakan kartu dibuat diluar sekolah. Hal ini tentunya mengakibatkan proses pembuatan kartu pelajar tidak efektif dan efisien. Implementasi aplikasi pembuatan kartu pelajar dianggap perlu diterapkan pada sekolah yang belum memiliki aplikasi secara pribadi seperti pada MISSPA. Dengan adanya aplikasi Kartu Pelajar selain menghasilkan kartu identitas siswa maupun siswi serta dapat membantu staff bidang kesiswaan dalam pengelolaan data pelajar MISSPA yang lebih terjamin sehingga data pelajar hanya dapat diakses oleh pihak sekolah. Adapun tujuan dilaksanakan implementasi pembuatan aplikasi kartu pelajar pada MISSPA adalah untuk menghasilkan aplikasi yang efektif dan efisien yang bermanfaat untuk sekolah khususnya bidang kesiswaan serta menjadi solusi atas permasalahan yang dihadapi.

Abstract

Sistem Informasi Pengelolaan Surat Masuk dan Surat Keluar (SIPSM-SK) di Kantor Bagian Umum Pemerintahan Kabupaten Banyuwangi merupakan solusi modern untuk mengelola proses administrasi surat secara efisien dan efektif. Sistem ini dirancang untuk mempermudah pengelolaan surat masuk dan surat keluar, mulai dari penerimaan, penyimpanan, pencarian, hingga distribusi surat. Dengan menggunakan teknologi informasi, SIPSM-SK membantu meningkatkan kinerja dan transparansi dalam pengelolaan surat, sehingga mempercepat proses pengambilan keputusan dan pelayanan kepada masyarakat. Dengan adanya SIPSM-SK, diharapkan Kantor Bagian Umum Pemerintahan Kabupaten Banyuwangi dapat meningkatkan produktivitas dan efisiensi dalam mengelola surat masuk dan surat keluar.

Abstract

Efforts to reduce the use of domestic wheat flour include the use of local food ingredients such as tubers. Potatoes can be used to make potato flour, a type of flour derived from potatoes that can be used as an alternative to adding wheat flour as a raw material in making sponge cake. This research aims to determine the effect of substituting potato starch for wheat flour on the physical, chemical, and hedonic characteristics of baked marble sponge cake. This research used a completely randomized design with 1 factor, namely the substitution of potato starch for wheat flour with 6 levels (A = 100%, B = 80%, C = 60%, D = 40%, E = 20%, and F = 0%) with 3 repetitions. The results showed that higher substituting potato starch significantly affects increasing of moisture and ash, reducing of fat, protein, and carbohydrate, increasing crude fiber, decreasing brightness value (L* value), and decreasing hardness, as well as affecting the texture, color and aroma preference tests. Based on the overall organoleptic test results, it showed that all treatments were liked by the panelists, however, based on texture, the best treatment was found in the sample with 80% potato starch substitution. The marble cake with the formulation of potato starch 80% and wheat flour 20% has good physical and chemical characteristics.

Abstract

The digital shift in education requires readiness among school members to manage the challenges of organizational change. This study investigates the technological readiness of junior high schools in Indonesia from teachers' perspective, using Weiner's (2009) theory of organizational readiness for change, and examines students' readiness for digital learning. Participants included teachers and students from four junior high schools in Boyolali, Central Java, selected through convenience sampling with a 95% confidence level (0.05). Descriptive statistical analysis indicated a positive readiness for digital transformation (mean = 3.74). The study found that only the Valence of Change factor had a statistically significant correlation with schools' readiness for digital shift. Furthermore, respondents showed a positive attitude toward digital learning, with no significant gender differences in students' perceptions and use of digital tools. These findings offer valuable insights for educators, researchers, and school administrators in driving digital transformation in education. The study recommends integrating digital learning into the curriculum to boost student engagement and interest.

Abstract

Junior high school students learning English as a foreign language (EFL) in countries where English is neither the first nor the second language face significant challenges in acquiring vocabulary due to the infrequent use of English outside the classroom and monotonous teaching techniques. However, in the digital era, innovative educational tools like Digital Flashcard-based gamification offer an interactive and engaging solution. This study aims to understand junior high school EFL students' perceptions of learning English vocabulary through gamification using Digital Flashcards. The research was conducted as Classroom Action Research (CAR) and involved 32 junior high school students in Madiun District, Indonesia, learning English as a foreign language (EFL). Over eight meetings, these students engaged in learning animal-related vocabulary using Digital Flashcard-based gamification. Data were collected through pre-test and post-test and interviews to gather students' perceptions of the learning experience. The results indicate that students' vocabulary mastery significantly improved after using gamification-based Digital Flashcards, with an average increase of 15 points. The pre-test average score was 60, which increased to 75 in the post-test. The gamification elements (story, mechanics, aesthetics, and technology) enhanced students' exposure, attention, and enthusiasm during learning. Vocabulary mastery was effectively facilitated through diverse gamified activities. This study demonstrates that incorporating Digital Flashcards in a gamified format is an effective tool for improving vocabulary learning among EFL students.

Abstract

With the growing need for accessible English learning in online education, this study explores students' requirements for mastering English grammar in a virtual environment at the educational startup "Scholars" in Surakarta, Indonesia. The study aimed to identify students' learning needs and challenges in online grammar classes to provide recommendations for more effective instructional support. Using a quantitative descriptive approach, data were collected from 38 students through questionnaires and proficiency tests, focusing on their perceptions and performance in online English grammar learning. The findings showed that over 50% of students strongly needed structured, accessible digital materials, such as interactive e-books or guidebooks, to facilitate independent grammar study. Students struggled to identify word forms and understand sentence structures, contributing to low proficiency rates, as evidenced by a 40% failure to meet the passing grade. The research highlights that current materials, limited to PowerPoint presentations and PDF files, are insufficient to meet students' learning needs. The study concludes that integrating digital, interactive learning resources with exercises and structured materials could better support students' autonomy, improve engagement, and address learning gaps in online English grammar instruction. This approach promises to enhance learning outcomes and motivation in virtual English education.

Abstract

Purpose: The objective of this study is to address the limitations of existing trademark image similarity analysis methods by integrating a Chi-square distance metric within a Siamese neural network framework. Traditional approaches using Euclidean distance often fail to accurately capture the complex visual features of trademarks, leading to suboptimal performance in distinguishing similar trademarks. This research aims to improve the precision and robustness of trademark comparison by leveraging the Chi-square distance, which is more sensitive to image variations. Methods: The approach involves modifying a Siamese neural network traditionally employing Euclidean distance with the use the Chi-square distance metric instead. This alteration allows the network to better capture and analyze critical visual features such as color and texture. The modified network is trained and tested on a comprehensive dataset of trademark images, enabling the network to learn and distinguish between similar and dissimilar trademarks based on subtle visual cues. Result: The findings from this study show a significant increase in accuracy, with the modified network achieving an accuracy rate of 98%. This marks a notable improvement over baseline models that utilize Euclidean distance, demonstrating the effectiveness of the Chi-square distance metric in enhancing the model's ability to discriminate between trademarks. Novelty: The novelty of this research lies in its application of the Chi-square distance in a deep learning framework specifically for trademark image similarity detection, presenting a novel approach that yields higher precision in image-based comparisons.

Abstract

Purpose: This study aims to enhance the detection of trademark image similarity by conducting a comparative analysis of various Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) architectures within Siamese networks, integrated with test-time augmentation techniques. Existing methods often face challenges in accurately capturing subtle visual similarities between trademarks due to limitations in feature extraction and generalization capabilities. The research seeks to identify the most effective CNN architecture for this task and to assess the impact of test-time augmentation on model performance. Methods: The study implements Siamese networks utilizing three distinct CNN architectures: VGG16, VGG19, and ResNet50. Each network is trained on a dataset of trademark images to learn deep feature representations that can discriminate between similar and dissimilar trademarks. During the evaluation phase, test-time augmentation (TTA) is applied to enhance model robustness by averaging predictions over multiple augmented versions of the input images. TTA includes transformations such as random rotations (up to 40%), width and height shifts (up to 20%), random shear transformations, zooming (up to 20%), horizontal and vertical flips, and random brightness adjustments. Result: Experimental findings reveal that the Siamese network based on VGG19 achieves the highest accuracy at 98.82%, outperforming the VGG16-based network with an accuracy of 97.07% and the ResNet50-based network with 50.00% accuracy. The application of TTA has improved performance across all models, with the VGG19 model receiving the highest improvement. The extremely low accuracy of ResNet50 can be attributed to its misinterpretation of original trademark images as close-forged ones, probably due to overfitting or lack of an efficient ability in generalizing very fine visual features. Novelty: The study conducted a comparative analysis of CNN architectures, namely VGG16, VGG19, and ResNet50 in Siamese networks for trademark image similarity detection.
