Abstract

Set induction and closure is one of the basic skills of teaching need to be mastered by the teacher to make learning process affective by preparing students mentally and guiding students have a summary of the learning materials. The result of the research show that the Ist grader teachers have set induction and closure by fulfilling the components. Components of set induction and closure conducted by the teachers with observing the characteristics of the Ist grader students, ability of 1st grader students and effectiveness of time, so not all indicators in each component are implemented by teachers.Membuka dan menutup pelajaran merupakan salah satu keterampilan dasar mengajar yang perlu dikuasai oleh guru untuk membantu mengefektifkan pembelajaran dengan menyiapkan mental siswa dan membimbing siswa memiliki ringkasan tentang materi yang dipelajari. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dinyatakan bahwa guru kelas 1 telah melaksanakan  membuka dan menutup pelajaran dengan memenuhi komponen yang ada. Komponen membuka dan menutup pelajaran dilaksanakan guru dengan memerhatikan karakteristik siswa kelas 1, kemampuan siswa kelas 1 dan keefektifan waktu yang digunakan, sehingga tidak semua indikator dalam setiap komponen dilaksanakan oleh guru.

Abstract

This study aims to investigate teachers’ knowledge and implementation of SA. Quantitative and qualitative methods are used in this single study using test about SA, observation sheet, and field notes as the instruments. The result of this study showed that the number of training or workshops they attend is in line with their comprehension on SA. Secondly, the numbers of teachers who belong to deep knowledge category and shallow knowledge category are balance. Specifically, teachers with good knowledge tend to have strong knowledge about the concepts related to the characteristics, principles, and learning models of SA and steps of SA. The next, teachers with have fair knowledge are weak regarding the characteristics and steps in SA. The last is teachers who have poor knowledge do not understand mostly the concepts about SA. Related to the implementation, teachers who have good knowledge apply similar patterns like teacher with fair knowledge in applying the steps of SA.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengetahuan dan implementasi pendekatan saintifik oleh guru. Metode kuantitatif dan kualitatif digunakan dalam penelitian ini. Adapun instrumen yang digunakan adalah tes tentang pendekatan ilmiah, lembar observasi, dan catatan lapangan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa jumlah pelatihan atau workshop yang mereka hadiri sebanding dengan pemahaman mereka tentang pendekatan saintifik. Kedua, jumlah guru yang masuk kategori pengetahuan yang mendalam tentang pendekatan saintifik seimbang dengan jumlah guru dengan pengetahuan yang rendah. Guru dengan pengetahuan yang baik cenderung memiliki pengetahuan yang kuat tentang konsep-konsep yang berkaitan dengan karakteristik, prinsip, model pembelajaran, dan langkah-langkah dari pendekatan saintifik. Berikutnya, guru dengan pengetahuan yang cukup memiliki keterbatasan dalam memahami karakteristik dan langkah-langkah pendekatan saintifik. Guru yang memiliki pengetahuan yang lemah tidak memahami sebagian besar konsep-konsep tentang pendekatan saintifik. Terkait dengan implementasinya, guru yang memiliki pengetahuan yang baik menerapkan pola yang sama seperti guru dengan pengetahuan yang cukup dalam menerapkan langkah-langkah dari pendekatan saintifik.

Abstract

Abstract: This study primarily wanted to explore students’ views and how they employ translation-related strategies to learn English. Five students from the accounting department, Universitas Negeri Malang participate in this qualitative case study. The findings showed that students consider translation has a positive contribution to their English learning. They also mentioned learning activities by using translation that can be categorized into several learning strategies. It is expected that the results of the study can raise awareness and exercise cautious use of translation as an effective learning strategy in English for the benefits of the students.Abstrak: Penelitian ini ingin mengeksplorasi pandangan siswa dan bagaimana mereka menggunakan strategi terkait terjemahan untuk belajar bahasa Inggris. Lima mahasiswa dari jurusan akuntansi, Universitas Negeri Malang berpartisipasi di studi kasus kualitatif ini. Hasil wawancara menunjukkan bahwa siswa menganggap terjemahan memiliki kontribusi positif untuk pembelajaran bahasa Inggris. Mereka juga menyebutkan beberapa kegiatan belajar yang terkait dengan penggunaan terjemahan yang dapat dikategorikan ke dalam beberapa strategi pembelajaran. Diharapkan hasil penelitian ini dapat meningkatkan kesadaran dan melatih penggunaan terjemahan secara hati-hati sebagai strategi pembelajaran bahasa Inggris yang efektif untuk kepentingan siswa.

Abstract

Abstract:  Digital resources have been proven able to assist English language learners in improving their interaction skills, widening their vocabulary range, and enhancing their reading comprehension. Despite their benefits, digital tools can also create distractions for students. This article reports on the result of a survey to 150 vocational students on Mobile Assisted Language Learning (MALL) materials. The students agreed that MALL materials were more authentic (67%) and more accessible (59%) than traditional learning materials. The use of MALL materials could trigger classroom interactions (64%) and facilitated learning (56%). The implementation of MALL materials allowed students to get immediate feedback from the teachers (73%).Abstrak: Sumber daya digital telah terbukti dapat membantu pelajar bahasa Inggris dalam meningkatkan keterampilan interaksi, memperluas jangkauan kosa kata, dan meningkatkan pemahaman bacaan mereka. Selain bermanfaat, alat digital juga dapat menggangu proses belajar. Artikel ini melaporkan hasil survei terhadap 150 siswa kejuruan terkait dengan implementasi materi berbasis gawai atau Mobile Assisted Language Learning (MALL). Ditemukan bahwa siswa sepakat bahwa materi MALL lebih otentik (67%) dan lebih mudah diakses (59%) daripada materi pembelajaran tradisional. Penggunaan MALL dapat memicu interaksi kelas (64%) dan memfasilitasi pembelajaran (56%). Dengan menerapkan materi berbasis gawai atau MALL materials di kelas, para siswa mengakui bahwa mereka bisa mendapatkan umpan balik langsung dari para guru (73%).

Abstract

Abstract: Teacher leadership is a leadership attitude shown by the teachers involving idealized influence, inspirational motivation, intellectual stimulation, and individualized consideration. This study is conducted to investigate the relationship between teacher leadership and students’ motivation to learn English. By knowing the association between these variables, English teachers will be able to strategize in conducting the learning process in class to motivate their students. If students are motivated in learning English, then their performance and achievement might increase too. The design of the study is correlational. The relationship is determined by correlating scores from two questionnaires given to the students. The result indicated that there is a positive moderate relationship between teacher leadership and students’ motivation in learning English. The correlation coefficient is 0.342. It means that the higher the degree of teachers’ leadership, the higher the students’ motivation. In contrast, when the teachers have low degree of leadership, the students will gradually lose their motivation. In conclusion, the result of this study has shown that there is a significant relation between teachers’ leadership and students’ motivation.Abstrak: Kepemimpinan seorang guru dalam melakukan pembelajaran di dalam kelas dapat dilihat melalui beberapa hal, yaitu idealized influence, inspirational motivation, intellectual stimulation, dan individualized consideration. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk menginvestigasi hubungan antara kepemimpinan guru dengan motivasi siswa dalam belajar Bahasa Inggris. Dengan mengetahui hubungan antar dua variabel ini, guru dapat mengatur strategi lebih baik dalam melakukan proses belajar di kelas. Hasil penelitian mengindikasikan adanya hubungan positif yang sedang antara kepemimpinan guru dengan motivasi siswa dalam belajar bahasa Inggris. Koefisien korelasinya adalah 0.342. Hal ini berarti semakin tinggi kualitas kepemimpinan guru, semakin baik pula motivasi siswa dalam mempelajari Bahasa Inggris. Begitu pula jika guru mempunyai kualitas kepemimpinan yang rendah, maka besar kemungkinan bahwa lambat laun siswa akan kehilangan motivasi dalam belajar Bahasa Inggris. Kesimpulannya, kepemimpinan guru mempunyai hubungan yang signifikan dengan motivasi siswa dalam belajar bahasa Inggris.

Abstract

This research is aimed to know (1) The correlation between social and economic conditions of students’ parents with their achievement in learning Social Study (2) the correlation between self effication with achievement in learning social study (3) The correlation of both social and economic conditions of students’ parents and self effication with their achievement in learning Social Study in Grade VIII of SMPN 1 Salopa. The whole population on this research is 216 students, so 68 students are taken as a sample in the way of random sampling. The method of this research is correlation analysis, data is obtained from the questioner answered by respondents and documentation from 68 students. The result of this research showed that (1) social and economic conditions of students’ parents has a significant and positive correlation with their achievement in learning Social Study with coeficent correlation 0,648 and significancy 0,000 (2) self effication has a significant and positive correlation with achievement in learning social study with coeficent correlation 0,610 and significancy 0,000 (3) both social and economic conditions of students’ parents and self effication has a significant and positive correlation with their achievement in learning Social Study with coeficent correlation 0,719 and significancy 0,000.Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui adanya (1) hubungan antara kondisi sosial ekonomi orangtua dengan prestasi belajar IPS, (2) hubungan antara efikasi diri dengan prestasi belajar IPS, (3) hubungan secara bersama-sama kondisi sosial ekonomi, efikasi dengan prestasi belajar IPS di kelas VIII SMP Negeri 1 Salopa. Populasi dalam penelitian ini siswa kelas VIII sebesar 216 siswa sehingga diambil sampel secara sample random sampling sebesar 68 siswa.  Metode penelitian ini analisis korelasi, data diperoleh dari angket yang dijawab responden dan dokumentasi dari 68 siswa. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa (1) kondisi sosial ekonomi orangtua memiliki hubungan yang signifikan dan positif  dengan prestasi belajar IPS dengan nilai koefisien korelasi 0,648 dengan signifikan 0,000,  (2) efikasi diri memiliki hubungan yang signifikan dan positif dengan prestasi belajar IPS dengan koefisien korelasi 0,610 dengan signifikasi 0,000, (3) kondisi sosial ekonomi orangtua, efikasi diri memiliki hubungan yang signifikan secara bersama dengan prestasi belajar untuk kofisien korelasi 0,719 dan sigifikansi 0,000.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to produce thematic teaching materials supplementary for class IV Subtheme Let Love the Environment, with the material focus on environmental preservation. This research is the research and development with a model Dick and Carey consisting of ten stages. The subjects in this study were students and teachers of grade IV Elementary School Nogotirto. They are 2 students on individual testing, 8 students in the small group trial, and 30 students on field trials. The trial results demonstrate the feasibility of teaching materials is very high. Teaching materials produced had a level of validity by 87.45%, amounting to 94.43% of practicality, and effectiveness of 81.1%.Tujuan penelitian ini adalah menghasilkan suplemen bahan ajar tematik untuk kelas IV Subtema Ayo Cintai Lingkungan, fokus kajiannya materi pelestarian lingkungan. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian pengembangan menggunakan model Dick dan Carey yang terdiri atas sepuluh tahapan. Subjek penelitian yaitu guru dan siswa kelas IV SDN Nogotirto 2 siswa pada uji coba perorangan, 8 siswa pada uji coba kelompok kecil, dan 30 siswa pada uji coba lapangan. Hasil uji coba menunjukkan tingkat kelayakan bahan ajar yang sangat tinggi. Bahan ajar yang dihasilkan memiliki tingkat kevalidan sebesar 87,45%, kepraktisan sebesar 94,43%, dan keefektifan sebesar 81,1%.

Abstract

Abstract: This paper presents the integration between the use of technology and conventional learning and teaching process. Taking advantage of technology in classroom like the use of Wattpad by integrating with process-genre approach helps students to make the classroom activities become more efficient. This objective of this paper is to show the effect of using Wattpad in teaching and learning process by integrating with process-genre approach towards students’ writing achievement. The treatment starts from pre-test, and end with post-test. The result in this study shows after the students teach by using Wattpad gain better writing achievement than before using it.  Abstrak: Penelitian ini berisi tentang integrasi antara penggunaan teknologi dan pembelajaran konvensional pada proses pembelajaran. Mengambil kelebihan dari teknologi pada pembelajaran di kelas, seperti penggunaan Wattpad dengan mengintegrasikan pendekatan Process-genre, hal ini meningkatkan tingkat keefisiensian kegiatan pemblejaran di kelas. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat keefektifan penggunaan Wattpad yang diintegerasikan dengan pendekatan process-genre pada proses pembelajaran terhadap penacapaian menulis siswa. Penelitian yang dilakukan dimulai dari pretest dan diakhiri dengan posttest. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan siswa yang telah belajar menggunakan Wattpad memiliki pencapaian menulis yang lebih baik daripada sebelum menggunakannya.

Abstract

This survey study wasdan guru intended  to investigate the characteristics of effective English teachers in Kabupaten Pacitan based on students’ and teachers’ perceptions. The study involved  108 students and 12 teachers who were randomly selected from the available data from Education Office of  Kabupaten Pacitan, East Java. The data were collected using students’ questionnaire and  teacher-self assessment covering 37 items and interview guide asking about students’ and teachers’ perceptions about characteristics of effective Junior High School English teachers in Kabupaten Pacitan. The findings show that  students and  teachers have different perceptions on the characteristics of effective English teachers.Penelitian survey ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui karakteristik dari guru Bahasa Inggris yang efektif di Kabupaten Pacitan berdasarkan persepsi guru dan siswa. Penelitian ini melibatkan 108 siswa dan 12 guru yang dipilih secara acak dari data yang diperoleh di kantor Dinas Pendidikan Kabupaten Pacitan, Jawa Timur. Pengumpulan data menggunakan kuesioner siswa dan penilaian individu guru yang mencakup 37 soal dan panduan wawancara yang menanyakan tentang persepsi siswa6 dan guru tentang karakteristik dari guru Bahasa Inggris SMP yang efektif di Kabupaten Pacitan. Hasil temuan menunjukkan bahwa siswa dan guru mempunyai persepsi yang berbeda terhadap karakteristik dari guru Inggris yang efektif.

Abstract

Abstract: Now that the spread of Covid 19 is still high and the teaching and learning process should be continued to be conducted at homes, but it seems that some teachers –in this case EYL teachers– are not ready to integrate various digital platforms. It is necessary for us to respond to the need of investigating technology readiness of English for young learners teachers in teaching during this Covid 19 pandemic. It is strongly important to reveal the teachers’ technology readiness as it plays vital role, especially during this pandemic —when the only thing that the teachers and the students can do is interacting online. Without having adequate literacy in technological thing, it is impossible to create teaching and learning process which can facilitate both the teachers and the students. Based on the result of initial survey, it could be stated that some teachers might not be ready in integrating the technology in their virtual classrooms; ending up in either providing lots of assignments or creating monotonous activities, which of course break the nature of teaching English for young learners. Hence, it is expected that by conducting this study, the researchers could assist some of the teachers to be more aware with their technology readiness, so that they could serve the students better, and the students could also learn the material more interesting and meaningful.
