Abstract

Abstract

This research is motivated by problems in the field which show that the curriculum in schools has not optimally honed students' high-level thinking abilities. This research aims to determine the effectiveness of a multidimensional curriculum in improving high school students' higher order thinking skills. The approach used in this research is a quantitative approach. The method used is quasi-experimental by testing a multidimensional curriculum model integrated with scientific, creative and future thinking competencies in the experimental group and comparing it with the control group. The participants involved were 300 high school students spread across 7 schools. The instrument used to measure students' thinking skills is a questionnaire that contains three dimensions, namely scientific, creative and future thinking. The scientific thinking dimension contains inquiry skills, the creative thinking dimension contains ways of solving problems, and the future thinking dimension contains individual views and time. The results of the study showed that the high-level thinking skills in the experimental group experienced more significant improvement compared to the control group. The dimensions of ability that experienced the most significant increase were future thinking skills and creative thinking skills. A multidimensional curriculum model must be accompanied by innovative and creative learning strategies or methods that encourage higher order thinking skills in students of various ages. The implication of this research is that the multidimensional curriculum model can be used at the secondary school level in order to improve higher order thinking skills.

Abstract

Students have diverse learning abilities, however, in its implementation, learning is still found to be based on the teacher's wishes, not based on the students' learning needs. The diversity of students' learning styles is neglected, and teachers have difficulty accommodating it due to limited space and time. Therefore, it is important to implement differentiated learning to improve learning outcomes through personalized learning. This study aims to examine the application of differentiated learning using the Learning Management System (LMS) Moodle, through personalized learning and describe student responses. The method used is descriptive qualitative. Direct interviews with student representatives were conducted to determine responses to differentiated learning. Personalized learning is used by utilizing Moodle features in configuring teaching materials to facilitate student learning preferences which are packaged in three types as a manifestation of content differentiation and configuration in formative and remedial summative tests as a form of process differentiation. The results of the study indicate that: 1) a differentiated learning pattern was found, where each student has a varied learning pattern and preference for the teaching materials provided; 2) process differentiation successfully facilitates students' diverse learning abilities to achieve learning completeness; 3) Students responded positively to differentiated learning based on: typical learning preferences, availability of materials, learning readiness, learning speed, and opportunities to complete learning.

Abstract

This study aims to compare education policies implemented in Singapore and Indonesia, with a focus on their alignment with global standards for quality education. Using a literature review methodology, the study explores how government policies, educational equity, infrastructure development, and technology integration influence the educational frameworks in both countries. The study specifically highlights the implementation of policies and outcomes in each country. The analysis shows that Singapore’s education system is better organized, more effective, and more aligned with international best practices. This is largely due to significant investment in education reform, on going teacher development, and strong government support. On the other hand, Indonesia’s education system faces challenges such as uneven policy implementation, inadequate infrastructure, and significant gaps in the quality of education between urban and rural areas. Despite these challenges, Indonesia has made significant progress in improving access to education and promoting inclusiveness, especially in remote and less developed areas. This study provides important insights for policy makers seeking to improve education systems in their respective countries. By comparing policy implementation and outcomes, this study offers practical recommendations for advancing education programs in Indonesia, with an emphasis on equity and achieving higher international standards. The findings also emphasize the crucial role of government support and resource allocation in ensuring the success of education reforms.
