Abstract

The Arabic learning process is still faced with several problems, one of which is that students find it difficult to remember vocabulary and do not understand the meaning of each vocabulary. This study aims to analyze the enhancement of students' vocabulary through the implementation of the mimicry memorization method. This study employs a quantitative approach, specifically adopting an experimental research design known as the Pre-test and post-test Control Group Design. The result of this study is that there is an increase in learning outcomes in learning Arabic vocabulary using the Mimicry Memorization method. Supported with evidence, the experimental group demonstrates an average score of 80.000, while the control group exhibits a mean score of 52.690. The results of statistical analysis showing Sig. (2-tailed) in the Independent Sample T-Test test is 0.000 <0.05. These findings suggest that utilising the Mimicry Memorization technique proves to be efficacious in acquiring Arabic vocabulary.

Abstract

TThe teaching and learning process of I'lāl (vocal deviation) in Islamic boarding schools generally uses the book of Qawā'idul I'lāl. However, the book of Qawā'idul I'lāl is still very simple and has several shortcomings as follows: (1) it only contains simple i'lāl rules, (2) there is no explanation of the rules, (3) there are only a few examples, and (4) there is no material for practice. Therefore, the researcher intends to develop Qawā'idul I'lāl teaching materials with an inductive approach accompanied by practice questions. On another note, this research aims to describe the product's feasibility and legibility. This study uses a research and development (R&D) design with a stage model developed by Borg & Gall. The study results indicate that, in the aspect of feasibility, this development product is declared feasible after it is tested by experts on the material and media’s morphology and visual communication design, with a result of 82.6%. Regarding readability, the product development is categorized as independent after conducting the gap test with 86.1% and the Fog Index formula with a value of 2.543. Therefore, the results of developing the Qawā'idul I'lāl book with an inductive approach have implications for the ideal product of teaching materials for I'lāl learning (vocal deviation), especially in the pesantren environment.

Abstract

In the industrial revolution era, good teaching and learning processes should integrate the transfer of knowledge and values as a solid foundation for building students’ character. This research is a descriptive case study; the data were collected using observations and interviews before they were analyzed using an interactive model proposed by Miles & Huberman (1994). The result shows that Arabic teaching and learning is a befitting school subject that instills character values. Furthermore, character building can be seen in the planning, implementing, and evaluating Arabic teaching and learning processes. However, obstacles to its processes still exist, including the lack of coordination between parents and educators in the Islamic boarding school environment. Its supporting factors were also found, including a supportive curriculum, positive habituation, support for adequate facilities and infrastructure, and various programs organized by the Islamic boarding school regarding building the student character.

Abstract

This study aims to identify innovations in Arabic language learning for speaking proficiency among adult learners over the past 10 years. The method used is a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) with databases Scopus, Emerald, Science Direct, and Google Scholar. From the initial 1725 articles, 28 relevant articles were screened using Covidence and the PRISMA method. The results show innovations in models, methods, approaches, media use, teaching material development, and assessment systems, with most yielding positive outcomes. These innovations can be implemented in other institutions or tested in different contexts. However, some negative results, especially in khitobah practice, were due to insufficient supervision or the ineffectiveness of the practice. Several articles did not report the outcomes of the innovations, presenting opportunities for further research to evaluate these innovations more deeply.

Abstract

Abstract

This study aims to explore students’ perspectives on the relevance of learning ushul nahwu in the modern era. A descriptive qualitative approach was used with data collection methods through interviews and questionnaires involving all students who had taken the course. The results showed that most students considered ushul nahwu theoretically important, especially for prospective Arabic language teachers, but they felt the ushul nahwu material needed to be revised to be more relevant to modern needs. Although most students recognized the benefits of ushul nahwu in understanding Arabic grammar, only a small number felt that the course provided practical benefits in their Arabic language skills. Some students have difficulty understanding the concepts of ushul nahwu and applying them in Arabic language learning. Overall, the results indicate the need for a review of the ushul nahwu curriculum to better suit the needs of Arabic language learning in the modern era, with an emphasis on practical aspects and relevance to the times.

Abstract

This article explores the role of aqidah in shaping Muslim character in the digital era through the perspectives of theology and psychology. The study is motivated by a moral crisis amidst rapid technological advancements. Through a literature-based approach, the study highlights aqidah as the foundation of Islamic beliefs that shapes behavior aligned with the values of the Qur'an and Sunnah, both in relationships with Allah and with fellow humans. Aqidah reinforces values such as honesty, responsibility, and justice, including in the digital space, which is fraught with challenges like misinformation and hate speech. The study emphasizes the importance of integrating aqidah education with psychology, such as behaviorism theory, through three stages: understanding, loving, and practicing good values. Instilling aqidah from an early age is deemed critical for character development. This article offers an interdisciplinary solution to the moral challenges faced by younger generations, demonstrating that strong aqidah equips individuals to manage digital behavior, adhere to Islamic values, and become dignified, ethical, and responsible individuals. The study provides both practical and theoretical contributions to Islamic character education relevant to the modern era.

Abstract

This study analyzes communication strategies in the debate dialogue between Prophet Ibrahim and King Namrud in QS. Al-Baqarah verse 258 using Sperber and Wilson’s Theory of Relevance. This study aims to reveal how the cognitive mechanism in the Prophet Ibrahim’s argument can achieve optimal relevance, namely, producing maximum comprehension effects with minimal processing efforts, and examining its implications for the development of the Mahārah al-Kalām learning model. The research uses a qualitative approach with a content analysis design, focusing on the text of Q.S. Al Baqarah, verse 258, as primary data, and studying it through the perspective of Relevance theory. The results of the study demonstrate that the Prophet Ibrahim’s argument succeeded in fulfilling the principle of optimal relevance, thereby giving rise to a model of Qur’anic debate for the study of Mahārah al-Kalām. This model consists of four fundamental stages: first, opening with clear, rational basic premises; second, presenting objections that uphold communication ethics; third, grounding in concrete, irrefutable empirical evidence; and fourth, communicative closure by letting logic speak independently. These findings led to an integrated pedagogical framework that not only pursues linguistic fluency but also trains critical thinking, argumentation, and the ability to present relevant arguments in accordance with the principles of Relevance Theory. The novelty of this research lies in applying pragmatic analysis based on Relevance Theory to uncover the argumentative structure in Qur’anic debate and to transform it into a learning model for Mahārah al-Kalām, designed to cultivate logical, relevant, and ethical speaking skills.
