Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) in shaping Islamic character among students at SMA IT Al-Hijrah II. The research focuses on the teacher’s strategies in PAI learning, the role of teacher exemplarity and religious school programs in strengthening character development, and the challenges faced in the digital era. This research employs a qualitative descriptive approach, with data collected through interviews, observations, and documentation. The subjects include an Islamic Education teacher, the school principal, and four students. The results show that the implementation of PAI learning at SMA IT Al-Hijrah II has been effectively carried out through three main stages: transfer of knowledge (delivery of religious knowledge), transfer of values (internalization of Islamic values), and transfer of practice (application of Islamic principles in daily life). The PAI teacher plays a key role in developing students’ Islamic character through contextual learning strategies, religious habituation, and exemplary conduct. Religious programs such as Bina Pribadi Islami (BPI), MABIT, Mutabaah Amal Yaumiyah, and Tahfiz Al- Qur’an further strengthen the moral and spiritual formation of students. The main challenges in implementing PAI in the digital era include the negative influence of social media, decreased motivation for worship, and limited supervision outside the school environment. The school and teachers address these challenges through continuous spiritual guidance, collaboration with parents, and the use of digital media as educational tools for Islamic propagation. Therefore, the implementation of PAI at SMA IT Al-Hijrah II significantly contributes to fostering Islamic character, reflected in students’ religious, disciplined, and responsible behavior in everyday life.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to see how the history of Islamic civilization during the Ottoman Turks, Safavids and Mughals in the 17th-18th centuries. In this research, the researcher uses a literature study by collecting research data from the treasures of literature and making the world of texts the main material for analysis. The results of this study show that Islamic civilization during the Ottoman Turks, Safavids and Mughals in the 17th-18th centuries experienced a significant rapid stagnation starting from the economic, cultural, ruler morality and military fields. This was due to the weak regulatory framework, financial decline, and the emergence of rebellious figures both from within the country and from abroad. So, it is no wonder then that Islam can no longer be the center of attention of world civilization.

Abstract

General Background: The effectiveness of memorizing the Qur’an is deeply influenced by the strategies employed within tahfidz institutions. Specific Background: In Indonesia, pesantren have developed various methods to support this process, notably the Mukammal and Tikrar methods, each with distinct pedagogical characteristics. Knowledge Gap: However, empirical comparisons of these two methods across different institutional contexts remain limited, hindering data-driven decisions in tahfidz curriculum design. Aims: This study aims to compare the effectiveness of the Mukammal and Tikrar methods in two pesantren—Pondok Pesantren Ulumul Qur’an Stabat and Pesantren Modern Muhammadiyah Kwala Madu Langkat. Results: Using a qualitative case study approach involving observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation, findings reveal that the Mukammal method emphasizes structured murajaah and accuracy, whereas the Tikrar method prioritizes intensive, flexible repetition for accelerated memorization. Novelty: The research presents a comparative perspective grounded in real institutional practices, showcasing how each method aligns with the unique needs and characteristics of santri. Implications: The study offers practical insights for educational institutions in selecting or adapting Qur’an memorization strategies tailored to their pedagogical context. Highlights: Highlights a comparison between two widely used tahfidz methods. Emphasizes the importance of aligning methods with santri characteristics. Offers practical insights for improving memorization programs in pesantren. Keywords: Qur’an Memorization, Mukammal Method, Tikrar Method, Islamic Education, Tahfidz Strategy

Abstract

General Background: In elementary science education, communication skills—such as expressing ideas, discussing, and reasoning based on evidence—are crucial for fostering 21st-century competencies. However, learning in many schools remains dominated by conventional teacher-centered methods, limiting student engagement and understanding of abstract concepts like ecosystems. Specific Background: Previous research on digital media in science learning has focused largely on cognitive gains, with less emphasis on integrating conceptual mastery with communication skill development. Knowledge Gap: Few studies have developed ecosystem learning media for elementary students that are simultaneously valid, practical, and effective in enhancing scientific communication. Aims: This study aimed to design, develop, and evaluate an instructional ecosystem video for fifth-grade students using the 4D model (define, design, develop, disseminate). Results: Validation showed high feasibility (92% media, 88% material), practicality (90.09%), and effectiveness, with learning outcomes increasing from 31.25 to 81.5 (n-gain = 0.73, high category). The media improved both problem-solving and communication skills through interactive, discussion-oriented activities. Novelty: The developed video integrates ecosystem concepts with structured communication training, tailored to the cognitive and engagement needs of elementary learners. Implications: This innovation offers a technology-based alternative resource supporting the Merdeka Curriculum’s vision, with potential for broader implementation through LMS integration and teacher training.Highlight : Educational videos facilitate understanding of ecosystem concepts. This medium has been proven to be valid, practical, and effective for elementary school students. Improves students' communication skills and science learning outcomes. Abstract

General Background: Islamic Religious Education in multicultural schools requires contextualized pedagogical practices that accommodate religious diversity while sustaining Islamic values. Specific Background: At SMKS and SMAS Pencawan Medan, where Muslim students constitute a minority, Islamic Education teachers confront limited instructional time, generational gaps, digital literacy disparities, and the necessity to maintain interreligious harmony. Knowledge Gap: Previous studies have predominantly addressed religious moderation and teacher professionalism in Muslim-majority contexts, with limited in-depth exploration of teachers’ lived experiences, cross-religious interactions, and comparative analysis within Muslim minority secondary schools. Aims: This study aims to analyze the roles, personal and professional experiences, interaction patterns, challenges, and institutional differences shaping Islamic Education practices in minority settings. Results: Using a qualitative phenomenological approach through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation, the findings reveal that teachers function as spiritual mentors, moral educators, social mediators, and facilitators of universal values. In SMKS, the teacher demonstrates strong spiritual exemplarity and persuasive guidance, whereas in SMAS, the teacher adopts technology-based pedagogical innovation and dialogic learning. Interaction patterns are characterized by humanistic, inclusive, and empathetic communication, fostering tolerance and religious moderation. Novelty: The study proposes an integrated model of Islamic Education teacher professionalism that unites spiritual, social, pedagogical, and technological dimensions within Muslim minority schools. Implications: These findings contribute to contextual Islamic education discourse and provide a framework for developing adaptive, inclusive, and technologically responsive Religious Education in plural educational environments.
