Abstract

ABSTRACTIntroduction: The high incidence of dental caries in children is partly due to the lack of parental participation in estabilishing children's tooth-brushing habits. This research aims to see an increase in the variables tested in the EKARINI, an educational model on mothers’ knowledge, attitudes, and children's OHIS. Methods: This study employs an experimental design, collecting pretest and posttest data from mothers and their children following the intervention.  The intervention provided in this study involved the EKARINI educational model, which included a pre-test and post-test in the form of a questionnaire consisting of several questions about maternal knowledge and attitudes toward dental health, and the control group received standard education using media such as leaflets, videos, and phantom models. The sample consisted of two groups: an intervention group with 20 respondents and a control group with 20 respondents. Data analysis was conducted using either the independent t-test or the Mann-Whitney test. Results: The findings revealed a significant difference between the posttest scores of the intervention group and the control group The p-values indicate significant differences for each variable: knowledge (p = 0.006), attitude (p = 0.016), and OHIS (p = 0.010), showing that the EKARINI educational model effectively improved maternal knowledge, attitudes, and children's oral hygiene compared to the control group. Based on the average value, the group that received the educational model had a higher average value than the control group. Conclusion: The EKARINI educational model is in increasing mothers’ knowledge, attitudes, and better OHIS values.

Abstract

The research aims to review the impact of the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model on students' collaboration skills in science learning through a literature review of various related studies. The method used is a literature review by analyzing several articles that discuss the use of PBL in science learning and its impact on improving students' collaboration skills. The results showed that PBL significantly contributed to the improvement of students' collaborative skills. With the implementation of PBL, students actively participate in solving problems, discussing and working together effectively, which contributes positively to improving their learning outcomes and scientific communication skills. The research also revealed that the success of PBL implementation is strongly influenced by the teacher's role in managing group dynamics and facilitating the learning process. The implication of the study is that PBL can be adopted as an effective learning model in improving students' collaboration skills. Proper implementation and strong teacher support can ensure the success of PBL implementation in improving students' collaborative skills in various learning contexts, especially in science.

Abstract

Abstract: The goal of this study was to analyze and evaluate the effectiveness of the implementation of the flipped classroom on learning outcomes of 21st century students through literature review. This study uses a literature method from 22 journals that have the subject of the flipped classroom. These journals were obtained from the Google Scholar database for the 2020-2024 range. The results of the literature of almost all journals show that there is a positive and quite significant difference in learning outcomes in the implementation of the flipped classroom compared to traditional learning models. 90.9% of journals show that the implementation of the flipped classroom can improve students’ higher order thinking skills (HOTS), while 9.1% of other journals show no difference with traditional learning models.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the impact of the E-Project Managerial Team on fostering independence among Biology Education students at Universitas Jambi Faculty of Teacher Training and Education. The research investigates how managerial technology influences students' ability to manage tasks autonomously in an academic setting. Using a mixed-methods approach with an exploratory sequential design, the study combines quantitative data from questionnaires with qualitative insights. A random sampling method was applied to select participants from 143 students. Data analysis was conducted using IBM SPSS 24, employing descriptive statistics, normality, linearity, and regression tests to interpret the relationships between variables. The normality test returned a significance value of 0.614, while the linearity test showed a value of 0.482, confirming the appropriate distribution and relationships of the data. Results from the regression analysis (F value of 36.487, p = 0.001) revealed a statistically significant positive influence of the E-Project Managerial Team on students' independence. Descriptive analysis also indicated that while some students held neutral views, a considerable portion acknowledged improvements in their self-management and autonomy due to the team's involvement. This research uniquely integrates managerial technology with biology education, highlighting how digital project management tools can enhance student independence. It contributes to the growing literature on educational technology by offering innovative methods for promoting autonomy, time management, and individual skill development among students. This work provides practical insights for educators seeking to implement technological solutions to support self-directed learning.

Abstract

Cooperative learning can be defined as a method in which students work together in small groups to support each other's learning, with the goal of understanding class objectives and engaging in learning activities. An instructional approach that utilizes this new framework is known as Think Pair Share (TPS), a pedagogical model consisting of several learning stages that can increase student engagement and interaction. The Think Pair Share (TPS) cooperative learning model is a structured approach to group learning where students exchange ideas to improve their cognitive abilities, articulate their viewpoints, and foster collaboration among peers. The purpose of this study is to investigate the effectiveness of implementing the TPS (Think Pair Share) cooperative learning model to improve student learning outcomes. This study used a methodology by conducting a literature review. The methodology used in this literature review is based on a qualitative approach and uses data collection techniques from the literature review. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that the application of the TPS (Think Pair Share) type cooperative learning model can improve students' cognitive learning outcomes. The TPS Learning Model is suitable for MIPA learning because it effectively meets students' learning needs through its implementation

Abstract

Educational institutions prepare prospective biology teachers so they can carry out learning effectively and efficiently. However, there is a gap in meeting the needs for effective learning for prospective biology teachers. Based on a survey of 177 prospective teacher students, it was found that they preferred microteaching to be integrated with the project-based learning model. The aim of this research is to develop a PjBL-based microteaching model. The research method employed is Research and Development (R&D) using the ADDIE model. The research subjects were 36 fourth-semester students from the Biology Education Study Program who were enrolled in microteaching courses. The PjBL-based microteaching model has the syntax, (1) Instructional to the concept of microteaching, (2) plan, (3) teach, (4) feedback and reflection, (5) project collection, (6) project evaluation. Conclusion: This PjBL-based microteaching model is developed from microteaching and PjBL theories. The PjBL-based microteaching model for prospective biology teachers is deemed suitable for use, as indicated by validator assessments and small group and large group tests. Based on the results of the large group trials, it is evident that this model positively impacts the 4C skills of prospective biology teachers.
