Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation, innovative value, and benefits of academic extracurricular programs at MIT Al Ishlah Gorontalo, covering supplementary classes in Mathematics, Languages, Qur’anic Studies, and Digital Literacy. A descriptive approach was employed, with data collected through observation, semi-structured interviews, and documentation. Data were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model through the stages of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that all aspects of the activities from planning and implementation to evaluation, were carried out very effectively. Innovation is evident in the use of digital media (interactive videos, Qur’anic recitation murottal applications, and online quizzes) and the adoption of student-centered active learning methods. The novelty of this study lies in the integration of digital literacy and Islamic education within academic extracurricular activities in a madrasah ibtidaiyah. Practically, the program can serve as an integrated instructional model that strengthens students’ academic, spiritual, and technological competencies. Theoretically, the study contributes to broadening the understanding of contextual pedagogical innovation at the primary level and provides a foundation for developing madrasah curricula grounded in digital integration and Islamic character.

Abstract

Quran-memorizing students face unique challenges in balancing their religious memorization with academic subjects, particularly mathematics. This study aims to develop an AI-based differentiated learning module tailored to the specific needs of Quran-memorizing elementary students to improve their mathematics performance and motivation. The module was designed to personalize content delivery and provide real-time feedback to enhance student engagement. Using the ADDIE model as the research methodology, the study involved analyzing student needs, designing, developing, implementing, and evaluating the module. The results showed a significant improvement in both academic performance and student motivation in learning mathematics. The AI-based module allowed for a more interactive, adaptive, and personalized learning experience, addressing the diverse learning profiles of students. This research contributes to the growing field of AI in education, demonstrating the potential of differentiated learning approaches to enhance academic outcomes. Future studies should explore the long-term effectiveness of such modules and consider expanding their application to other subjects and student groups.

Abstract

Abstract

This systematic review critically synthesizes 30 empirical studies to evaluate the cognitive consequences of Al-Qur'an memorization (hifdh), addressing a significant gap in differentiating between domain-specific memory gains and broader cognitive enhancement. Utilizing a rigorous selection process from the Semantic Scholar corpus, the study examines the impact on core memory functions, the potential for transfer to academic and executive domains, and the efficacy of various pedagogical interventions. The results demonstrate compelling evidence for "near transfer," where intensive memorization reliably enhances short-term, episodic, and verbal memory. However, the evidence for "far transfer" to general intelligence or non-memory domains remains mixed; while quasi-experimental studies suggest positive academic correlations, methodologically robust controlled trials indicate that these skills are highly domain-bound. The review also highlights that structured, technology-assisted pedagogical methods significantly outperform traditional rote approaches. A key novelty of this work is the identification of a "reverse replication crisis," revealing that the field is characterized by methodological homogeneity and geographical concentration, primarily in Indonesia, which may inflate positive findings. These insights offer vital practical implications, suggesting that while educators can leverage hifdh for specific memory training, they should exercise caution regarding claims of general cognitive improvement. Ultimately, this study contributes a nuanced framework for understanding religious memorization practices, advocating for a shift toward randomized controlled trials to establish clearer causal links in educational neuroscience.

Abstract

The leadership management mentoring program for female-headed households, implemented through the Women Empowerment School in Hutamonu Village (Tanah Wangi), Boliyohuto Subdistrict, Boalemo Regency, was designed to enhance women’s leadership capacity in managing both family and community affairs. Female-headed households often face multiple challenges, including limited decision-making power, financial constraints, and restricted participation in community development. Strengthening their leadership and management capacity is therefore essential to improving family welfare and fostering inclusive rural development. The objectives of the program were: (a) to strengthen the leadership capacity of female-headed households in managing families and communities; (b) to increase women’s awareness and abilities in decision-making and financial management; and (c) to improve the overall quality of life for women and their families in Hutamonu Village. The program was implemented through leadership training and mentoring activities, employing a survey research design with a qualitative approach, and the findings were presented in a descriptive narrative form. Data were collected through questionnaires, in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of both individual and collective changes. The results indicate that the program significantly improved the leadership skills of female-headed households, enhanced their awareness and decision-making capacity, and strengthened their financial management abilities. Furthermore, the program contributed to raising the quality of life for women and their families, while also increasing their participation in community development initiatives. In conclusion, the mentoring program demonstrates that targeted leadership and empowerment interventions can foster sustainable improvements in women’s capacities and promote equitable rural development.

Abstract

This study aims to identify and analyze the needs for developing Islamic Education (IRE) teaching materials that incorporate local wisdom at Gorontalo State University. The study uses a descriptive quantitative approach through the distribution of questionnaires to students taking IRE courses, with the aim of exploring their perceptions and needs regarding the integration of cultural activities and regional cultural values, especially those of Gorontalo, into the learning process. This study uses a descriptive quantitative approach through a needs analysis of 50 students at Universitas Negeri Gorontalo who are enrolled in Islamic Religious Education courses for the 2025/2026 academic year, with the aim of identifying the urgency of developing IRE teaching materials based on local wisdom. The results of the analysis show that students have a high level of awareness and strongly support the importance of applying Gorontalo cultural values in teaching materials. These values are considered capable of deepening religious understanding, strengthening moderate attitudes, and shaping a religious and cultured social character. These findings confirm that IRE teaching materials need shift from textual learning to contextual and constructivist learning, so that Islamic teachings can be more easily understood, internalized, and applied in students’ lives. The results of this study provide a basis for educators and curriculum developers to design teaching materials that are in line with the local socio-cultural context. Further research is recommended to develop and test teaching materials based on local wisdom using the ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation) development model to assess their effectiveness in strengthening religious moderation and cultural identity among university students.
