Abstract

Pengolahan kotoran ternak menjadi pupuk organik merupakan potensi ekonomi bagi peternak, namun proses manual yang masih digunakan kelompok ternak sering menyebabkan rendahnya kapasitas produksi dan kualitas pupuk yang tidak konsisten. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan meningkatkan efisiensi dan kualitas produksi pupuk organik Kelompok Ternak Saiyo Sakato di Dusun Labupacah, Lubuk Basung, melalui penerapan inovasi mesin penepung kotoran ternak berbasis teknologi tepat guna. Metode pelaksanaan meliputi survei kebutuhan mitra, perancangan mesin menggunakan SolidWorks, proses fabrikasi dan perakitan, uji kinerja mesin, serta sosialisasi dan demonstrasi operasional kepada anggota kelompok ternak. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan bahwa mesin penepung mampu mempercepat proses produksi dengan menurunkan durasi pengolahan dari 10–14 hari menjadi 3–5 hari, meningkatkan kapasitas produksi dari ±1 ton menjadi ±2 ton per bulan, serta menghasilkan tekstur pupuk yang lebih halus dan seragam. Selain meningkatkan produktivitas, kegiatan ini juga memperkuat keterampilan mitra dalam pengoperasian dan perawatan mesin, sehingga mendorong pemanfaatan teknologi secara mandiri dan berkelanjutan. Program ini turut memberikan pengalaman belajar aplikatif bagi mahasiswa dalam desain dan implementasi teknologi tepat guna. Secara keseluruhan, inovasi mesin penepung memberikan dampak signifikan terhadap peningkatan kapasitas produksi, kualitas pupuk organik, dan kemandirian kelompok ternak, serta menjadi model pemberdayaan masyarakat berbasis teknologi yang dapat direplikasi.

Abstract

Flat-hull ships are known to have higher resistance than streamlined hulls. Although the Hull Vane® concept has been proven effective as a stern-mounted energy-saving device through pressure-field modification and stern-wave interaction, most previous studies have focused on straight-foil configurations (straight planform). The effect of planform shape optimization, particularly the sweptback configuration, on the hydrodynamic performance of flat-hull ships is limited in the literature. This study modifies the geometry of a Hull Vane® into a sweptback stern foil and evaluates its performance using Computational Fluid Dynamics simulations. The results show that a 15° sweptback angle yields the greatest reduction in total drag. Velocity contour analysis shows a narrower wake and a more uniform velocity-gradient distribution in the stern area for the 15° swept-back stern-foil configuration compared to other configurations. Meanwhile, the turbulence length distribution shows a tendency toward reduced intensity of large-scale turbulent structures behind the ship, indicating improved wake-flow characteristics. The identified drag reduction mechanism primarily stems from improved pressure recovery and modified pressure distribution in the stern area, which is consistent with the working principle of Hull Vane®. Optimizing the sweptback planform geometry yields more efficient flow interaction than the straight-foil configuration. These findings indicate that planform optimization is an important design parameter in the development of stern foils to improve the hydrodynamic efficiency of medium-to high-speed commercial vessels.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian adalah meningkatkan hasil belajar peserta didik dengan pengaplikasian model pembelajaran berbasis proyek project based learning (PjBL). Penelitian yang dilakukan memakai metode penelitian classroom action research. Subjek penelitian ialah siswa kelas XI TM-2 bertotal 20 orang. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di bulan Mei-Juni 2022 memiliki 2 siklus. Pengembangan hasil belajar peserta didik setiap siklusnya dilihat dari hasil tes soal pilihan ganda. Hasil penelitian pada manifestasi siklus 1 memperoleh rata-rata sebesar 75,24 memiliki peningkatan signifikat pada siklus 2 menjadi 80,81. Persentase ketuntasan klasikal siklus 1 sebesar 70% adanya peningkatan siklus 2 menjadi 85%. Instrumen penelitian memakai soal tes pilihan ganda. Indikator keberhasilan penelitian yang ditetapkan yaitu KKM 75 dengan ketuntasan klasiklal minimal 85%. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini dengan menerapankan model pembelajaran (PjBL) di mata pelajaran Teknik Pemesinan NC/CNC dan CAM dapat meningkatkan hasil belajar peserta didik.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the relationship between the understanding of milling machining theory and work facilities on the practical performance of eleventh-grade students in the Machining Engineering program at SMK Negeri 1 Lembah Melintang. The method used in this study is quantitative with a correlational approach. Data were collected through observation, documentation, and the distribution of questionnaires, then analyzed using simple regression and multiple regression. The results indicate a positive relationship between the understanding of milling machining theory and practical performance in milling machining, with a correlation coefficient of 0.357. Work facilities also show a positive relationship with practical performance, with a correlation coefficient of 0.242. Additionally, the results of the multiple regression analysis indicate that the understanding of milling machining theory and work facilities together positively relate to practical performance in milling machining, with a correlation coefficient of 0.402. The effective contribution of both variables to practical performance is 16%, with a relative contribution of understanding theory at 11.5% and work facilities at 4.5%. These findings suggest that improving theoretical understanding and providing adequate work facilities can enhance students' practical performance in milling.

Abstract

This article describes issue of mechanical worshop facilities and infrastructures at Vocational High School 1 Padang, aims to evaluate the availability and feasibility of facilities and infrastructure, in order to encourage learning process of mechanical engineering. This study reviews aspects related to the adequacy of mechanical workshop’s facilities and infrastructures including the existence and condition of machine, workshop space to other supporting infrastructure linked to work productivity and safety such as wall, lighting, ventilation, and floor conditions. Descriptive quantitative method was used with data collection techniques consisting of observation, interview with workshop managers, and documentation. The result revealed 87% of the facilities were classified as operational and available to support practical activities. Total percentage of feasibility for each workshop are: 90% of the lathe workshop, 77% of the miling machine workshop, 90% of the bench workshop, and 92 % of the welding and grinding machine workshop. The maximum percentage of facility feasibilities which is 100% has not been achieved, influenced by several factors related to the damage and unavailability of several items. In infrastructure, the ventilation is of standard size; lighting is appropriate and sufficient; the wall is of limited height and filled with large machines resulting in limited space for movement; the floor of the lathe workshop is inadequate with a number of cement patches on the floor cracks. Indicating the need for repairs and upgrades to increase the percentage of feasibility to maximum.

Abstract

The low learning results of students when learning the Frais Technique serve as the impetus for this study. It is believed that this is because students are not actively participating in teacher-centered learning models and their learning is not at its best. The purpose of this study is to ascertain how well the Project Based Learning learning paradigm affects the learning outcomes of SMK Negeri 1 Tanjung Raya students studying framing techniques. This study employs quantitative approaches and quasi-experimental research. 40 students made up the study's sample, and they were divided into two categories: the experimental category and the control category. The research period was carried out during the academic year 2024–2025's odd semester. The findings from the analysis of the data in this research suggest that the learning model centered around projects is significantly more influential than the conventional model to improve learning outcomes, the findings of the analysis illustrate that the average post-test results of the experimental class of 75.25 are greater than the control class with an average of 63.75. Based on the results of research and discussion, quasi-experimental research on the XI grade Frais Engineering Subject at SMK Negeri 1 Tanjung Raya can be concluded that there is an effectiveness of using project-based learning models on student learning outcomes where the value of learning outcomes in groups using project-based learning models is higher than conventional models.

Abstract

Although the teaching profession has a strategic role in ensuring the quality of vocational education, not all students in education study programs show a strong interest in pursuing a career as teachers. This study aims to analyze the effect of students’ perceptions of the teaching profession on interest in becoming teachers among students of the Mechanical Engineering Education Study Program at Universitas Negeri Padang. This study used a quantitative approach with an associative ex post facto design. The population as well as the research sample consisted of 72 students from the 2022 cohort, determined through a total sampling technique. Data were collected using a four-point Likert-scale questionnaire distributed through Google Forms. The research instrument consisted of 35 valid items with a Cronbach’s Alpha reliability coefficient of 0.949. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, normality testing, linearity testing, and simple linear regression with the assistance of SPSS. The results showed that students’ perceptions of the teaching profession were in the good category, with the largest percentage of 36%, while interest in becoming teachers was also in the good category, with the largest percentage of 44%. The regression analysis produced the equation Y = 10.348 + 0.448X, while the t-test obtained a value of 4.718 with a significance of 0.000 < 0.05. These findings indicate that students’ perceptions of the teaching profession have a positive and significant effect on interest in becoming teachers. The conclusion of this study affirms that the more positive students’ perceptions of the teaching profession, the higher their interest in choosing a teaching career. The implications of this study emphasize the importance of strengthening understanding, experience, and a positive image of the teaching profession in vocational education programs so that students’ interest in becoming teachers can develop more optimally.

Abstract

Seeing the interest of students in entrepreneurship before studying entrepreneurship such as selling online or offline is a study that needs to be done. The existing interest in these students has an influence on students when they take entrepreneurship lessons. This study aims to see how much the contribution of student entrepreneurship interests supports student learning outcomes in entrepreneurship courses. This study uses a type of quantitative research with the nature of correlation research which aims to prove the relationship between variables. Respondents were 35 vocational education students who had become entrepreneurs. The results of the study show a significance value of 0.018 which is less than <0.05 probability so the hypothesis Ha is accepted, that there is an influence between entrepreneurial interest on the entrepreneurship learning outcomes of vocational education students and contributes 15.7%. Melihat adanya minat mahasiswa dalam berwirausaha sebelum mempelajari kewirausahaan seperti berjualan online ataupun offline menjadi sebuah kajian yang perlu dilakukan. Minat yang sudah ada pada mahasiswa tersebut apakah memberikan pengaruh terhadap mahasiswa ketika mereka mengikuti pelajaran kewirausahaan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat seberapa besar kontribusi minat berwirausaha mahasiswa untuk menunjang hasil belajar mahasiswa pada mata kuliah kewirausahaan. Penelitian ini menggunakan jenis penelitian kuantitatif dengan sifat penelitian korelasional yang bertujuan untuk membuktikan hubungan antara variabel. Responden sebanyak 35 mahasiswa pendidikan vokasi yang pernah berwirausaha. Hasil penelitian menujukkan nilai signifikansi 0,018 lebih kecil dari < probabilitas 0,05 sehingga hipotesis Ha diterima, bahwa ada pengaruh antara minat berwirausaha terhadap hasil belajar kewirausahaan mahasiswa pendidikan vokasi dan memberikan kontribusi sebesar 15,7%.

Abstract

ABSTRACT The learning outcomes of Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) practical training among vocational high school students remain suboptimal and are presumed to be influenced by teachers' roles and the availability of workshop facilities. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between teachers' roles and workshop facilities and SMAW practical learning outcomes among Grade XI students of the Metal Welding Engineering program at SMK Negeri 2 Painan. The study employed a quantitative correlational approach. The population consisted of 12 students, all of whom were selected as the sample using a total sampling technique. Data on teachers' roles and workshop facilities were collected through questionnaires, while practical learning outcomes were obtained using an SMAW practical assessment rubric. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, prerequisite tests including normality, linearity, and multicollinearity tests, followed by multiple linear regression analysis. The findings revealed that the teacher's role had a positive and significant relationship with SMAW practical learning outcomes (r = 0.618; p < 0.05), whereas workshop facilities showed a positive but non-significant relationship (r = 0.629; p > 0.05). Simultaneously, teachers' roles and workshop facilities demonstrated a positive and significant relationship with SMAW practical learning outcomes (R = 0.707; R² = 0.500), indicating that both variables jointly explained 50.0% of the variance in students' practical learning outcomes. It can be concluded that the teacher's role is the primary factor significantly associated with SMAW practical learning outcomes, while workshop facilities serve as a supporting factor whose management should continue to be optimized to improve the quality of practical learning. ABSTRAK Hasil belajar praktik pengelasan Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) pada siswa Sekolah Menengah Kejuruan masih belum optimal, yang diduga dipengaruhi oleh peran guru dalam proses pembelajaran serta ketersediaan fasilitas bengkel praktik. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis hubungan peran guru dan fasilitas bengkel terhadap hasil belajar praktik pengelasan SMAW pada siswa kelas XI Teknik Pengelasan Logam SMK Negeri 2 Painan. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan metode korelasional. Populasi penelitian berjumlah 12 siswa dan seluruhnya dijadikan sampel melalui teknik total sampling. Data peran guru dan fasilitas bengkel dikumpulkan menggunakan angket, sedangkan data hasil belajar praktik diperoleh melalui rubrik penilaian praktik pengelasan SMAW. Analisis data dilakukan menggunakan statistik deskriptif, uji prasyarat analisis yang meliputi uji normalitas, linearitas, dan multikolinearitas, kemudian dilanjutkan dengan analisis regresi linear berganda. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa peran guru memiliki hubungan positif dan signifikan terhadap hasil belajar praktik pengelasan SMAW (r = 0,618; p < 0,05), sedangkan fasilitas bengkel memiliki hubungan positif namun tidak signifikan (r = 0,629; p > 0,05). Secara simultan, peran guru dan fasilitas bengkel memiliki hubungan positif dan signifikan terhadap hasil belajar praktik pengelasan SMAW (R = 0,707; R² = 0,500), yang menunjukkan bahwa kedua variabel secara bersama-sama memberikan kontribusi sebesar 50,0% terhadap variasi hasil belajar praktik. Disimpulkan bahwa peran guru merupakan faktor yang berhubungan secara signifikan dengan hasil belajar praktik, sedangkan fasilitas bengkel berperan sebagai faktor pendukung yang pengelolaannya tetap perlu dioptimalkan untuk meningkatkan kualitas pembelajaran praktik.

Abstract

ABSTRACT The low participation of vocational high school graduates in pursuing higher education remains a major challenge in Indonesian vocational education, despite the important role of higher education in improving graduates' competencies and competitiveness. Learning motivation is considered one of the internal factors associated with students' intention to continue their studies. This study aimed to examine the relationship between learning motivation and the intention to pursue higher education among eleventh-grade Mechanical Engineering students at SMKN 1 Sumatera Barat. A quantitative correlational design was employed. The sample consisted of 79 students selected using simple random sampling and proportional random sampling techniques. Data were collected through a five-point Likert-scale questionnaire and analyzed using descriptive statistics, normality and linearity tests, and Pearson Product Moment correlation with IBM SPSS Statistics 23. The findings revealed a positive and significant relationship between learning motivation and students' intention to pursue higher education (r = 0.612, p = 0.000). These findings indicate that strengthening students' learning motivation may enhance their educational aspirations. Therefore, schools should implement academic guidance, career counseling, and higher education information programs to foster students' motivation and encourage them to continue their studies. ABSTRAK Rendahnya partisipasi lulusan SMK dalam melanjutkan pendidikan ke perguruan tinggi masih menjadi tantangan pendidikan vokasi di Indonesia, meskipun pendidikan tinggi berperan penting dalam meningkatkan kompetensi dan daya saing lulusan. Salah satu faktor internal yang diduga berkaitan dengan minat melanjutkan studi adalah motivasi belajar. Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis hubungan antara motivasi belajar dengan minat melanjutkan studi ke perguruan tinggi pada siswa kelas XI Program Keahlian Teknik Mesin di SMKN 1 Sumatera Barat. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan desain korelasional. Sampel berjumlah 79 siswa yang dipilih melalui simple random sampling dan proportional random sampling. Data dikumpulkan menggunakan angket skala Likert dan dianalisis melalui statistik deskriptif, uji normalitas, uji linearitas, serta korelasi Pearson Product Moment menggunakan IBM SPSS Statistics 23. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan terdapat hubungan positif dan signifikan antara motivasi belajar dengan minat melanjutkan studi (r = 0,612; p = 0,000). Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa peningkatan motivasi belajar berpotensi memperkuat orientasi siswa untuk melanjutkan pendidikan ke perguruan tinggi. Oleh karena itu, sekolah perlu mengembangkan program yang mampu meningkatkan motivasi belajar melalui bimbingan akademik, layanan karier, dan penyediaan informasi pendidikan tinggi.
