Abstract

The development of information technology has encouraged the widespread adoption of technology-related loanwords in the Indonesian language, particularly in digital communication. The intensive use of these loanwords across diverse contexts has led to semantic shifts in their meanings. This study aims to analyze semantic shifts in technology-related loanwords in Indonesian by employing word embedding techniques as a computational linguistic approach. The research adopts a quantitative method based on the analysis of Indonesian digital text corpora representing language use across different time periods. The data are analyzed through text preprocessing, word embedding modeling, and the measurement of semantic relationship changes using cosine similarity and nearest-neighbor analysis. The results indicate that several technology-related loanwords have undergone significant semantic shifts, including meaning expansion, changes in semantic associations, and shifts in usage functions in line with technological developments and digital culture. These findings demonstrate that word embedding techniques are effective for empirically detecting semantic shifts in Indonesian. This study is expected to contribute methodologically to Indonesian semantic studies and to enrich corpus-based computational linguistics research.

Abstract

Giant forest ant Dinomyrmex gigas is one of the largest ants species in the world, native to the rain forests of Southeast Asia. It is known that ants have glands that produce chemical compounds that inhibit the growth of microbes. Therefore, it is necessary to deter-mine the antioxidant and antibacterial activities as well as identify the chemical compounds of D. gigas extract. D. gigas was extracted successively with n-hexane, ethanol and methanol. The antioxidant activity was evaluated by determination of the half-maximal inhibi-tory concentration (IC50) values while the antibacterial activities of the extracts were determined by measuring the minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC). The results exhibited that the IC50 values of n-hexane, ethanolic and methanolic extracts were 336.18±0.0984, 89.16±0.0219 and 90.72±0.0894 μg/mL respectively. The ethanolic extract exhibited the highest AAI value (0.34) followed by metha-nolic extract (0.33) and n-hexane extract (0.09). Based on AAI val-ues, the extracts were classified as moderate antioxidants. The best MIC values were 625 μg/mL for both ethanolic and methanolic ex-tracts against S. aureus, while MIC values of all extracts against E. coli were >625 μg/mL. Based on MIC values, all of the extracts presented weak activity against both S. aureus and E.coli. The GC-MS analysis showed that there are up to 30 compounds construct-ed of the ethanolic extract. Three major compounds are ethyl oleate  (29.78%), n-hexadecanoic acid (17.54%) and oleic acid (10.65%).

Abstract

Development or construction activities are one of the sectors with the largest and very massive use of materials, especially cement and concrete. One of the efforts to reduce the negative impact of the use of excess materials and for the long-term sustainability of construction is the choice of recycled materials, in this case concrete waste as a cement substitution in the mortar aggregate mixture. Mortar is a non-structural building material component is a mixture consisting of cement, fine aggregate, and water that functions as a binding agent. The selection of concrete waste as a substitute material for cement in mortar mixtures is because concrete waste is a material that is very easy to find in the construction industry and has a high potential for repeated use. The research method used was a laboratory experiment by testing mortar samples measuring 5cm x 5cm x 5cm with a mixed portion of 1PC:3PS. The mixture design is calculated and measured with each mixture of water, cement and fine aggregate or sand, then substitution is carried out by reducing the volume in the cement by a percentage of 0%, 5%, 10%, 15%, 25% and 30% respectively. Mortar compressive strength testing is carried out at the age of the mortar test piece reaching 7, 14,21, and 28 days with maintenance. The results of the study on the compressive strength of mortar with a reference of normal/control test pieces (0%) with a value of 30.67Mpa with a treatment age of 28 days, a significant decrease was obtained in the proportion of the substitution mixture of 25% and 30% respectively 24.67Mpa (19.56% decrease) and 25.33Mpa (17.41% decrease), the decrease was still within normal limits in the substitution mixture of 5%, 10%, 15% and 20%, with values of 28Mpa, 28.67Mpa, 29.33Mpa and 29.33Mpa. The values closest to the baseline were a mixture of 15% and 20%, respectively 29.33Mpa or 4.37% decrease with the same treatment age of 28 days.
