Abstract

This study explores the reading comprehension skills of junior high school students by using local folklore texts as reading material. Local folklore is a culturally rich and engaging medium that enhances students’ understanding of narrative structures, vocabulary, and moral values. The research aims to examine the level of students’ reading comprehension and how local culture-based texts can be effectively integrated into reading lessons. The study uses a quantitative approach, including reading tests based on one local folklore, an interview sheet, and observations. The subjects of the research were 50 eighth-grade students from two classes at a private school in Indonesia. The analysis of pre-test and post-test scores revealed a significant improvement in reading comprehension for the experimental group. The mean post-test score for the experimental group was 15% higher than the pre-test score, indicating that exposure to local folklore had a positive effect on students' comprehension abilities. Findings indicate that folklore texts positively influence students’ comprehension, particularly in identifying main ideas, interpreting implicit meanings, and relating texts to personal experiences. This supports the integration of local literature in language learning to promote cultural literacy and comprehension skills.

Abstract

In epistemology, Islam has a concept that is established more in translating science integration. When a Muslim does a scientific activity, then he should depart from the basic intentions and intrinsic motivation that comes out of the deepest conscience to meet the guidance of Allah. So that between science and con-science is unity and totality that lead to the soul of rabbaniyyat. While we are developing and exploring the concept of theoretical and practical, we must not just stop at the fact but also the fact behind the fact at the time of spiritual or metaphysical sense expressed in each statement of physics.

Abstract

Technology in the Society 5.0 era is more focused on the context of humans as superior resources. Competition is prioritized, both in understanding technology, skills, and its implementation in daily activities. Especially for students who must try to win the competition, because job opportunities are limited. Soft skills are a development of Emotional Quotient (EQ), which is part of social intelligence that includes the ability to monitor social emotions and the abilities of others. The opportunity to gain knowledge in a short time in the 2023 MOSMA scholarship program is expected to be able to shape they character after completing the programs and readiness to face the challenges of the sustainable world of work. This research was conducted using survey techniques and qualitative descriptive methods. The data collection method was through in-depth interviews with key informants, namely students receiving the 2023 MOSMA Scholarship from the Ministry of Religion of the Republic of Indonesia. The results of this study include active learning methods that can provide benefits for students to easily understand teaching objectives and be more independent, interactive with teachers, interesting with media and visualizations, easy to evaluate, students as agents of change have and instill strong morals through soft skills and want to continue their education to the Masters level, more enthusiastic, motivated to googling to get educational scholarships and very independent.

Abstract

Understanding student satisfaction survey presents both opportunities and challenges in a higher education. While sentiment analysis offers an efficient means of interpreting large volumes of textual data, inconsistencies between models can affect the reliability of resulting insights. This study aims to compare two IndoBERT sentiment models by analyzing their disagreement patterns and deriving insights to enhance institutional understanding of student satisfaction. The methodology involves two pretrained models (IndoBERT base finetuned SMSA and IndoBERT lite finetuned SMSA GooglePlay) applied to 657 student survey responses without additional fine-tuning. Evaluation focuses specifically on disagreement cases between the two models, using precision, recall, F1-score, accuracy and weighted average to assess model consistency. The results indicate that IndoBERT base demonstrates stronger contextual reliability, achieving a weighted average F1-score of 0.60 compared to 0.24 for IndoBERT lite on disagreement cases. IndoBERT lite tends to overestimate positive sentiment, particularly for short or ambiguous text inputs, whereas IndoBERT base maintains a more balanced interpretation across sentiment categories. The result from IndoBERT base also shows that positive sentiment gives the highest percentage at 53.4%, followed by neural at 34.6% and negative at 12.0% respectively. The negative sentiment is most likely related to campus facilities. These findings highlight that the disagreement analysis is valuable for identifying model biases and can provide insights to support institutional improvement from student satisfaction survey. For future research, more robust models can be developed by fining-tuned directly on student survey data, along with developing user-friendly application to assist universities in extracting the student survey data.

Abstract

Work on happiness and human development share a common lineage, both have been driven partly by an interest in understanding and measuring human progress and well-being. The paradox of the relationship between human development and happiness encourages us to examine the factors that influence happiness. The study of happiness is considered to be important in public administration due to public administration's concern with the relationship between government and society. For policies and programs to be truly effective to this end, they must gain a better understanding of happiness. This research uses a quantitative approach as the research design with the correlational study. This study uses two units of analysis, the first one being provinces in Indonesia and the second one being people. The Provincial data used are taken from the Central Bureau of Statistics (Badan Pusat Statistik) (BPS), about 34 Provinces. The second level unit is individuals or people and uses data from Survey Pengukuran Tingkat Kebahagian (SPTK) 2017 conducted by the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS), which consists of 72,317 household heads. The result shows that human development is associated with citizen happiness in Indonesia. Overall, HDI is associated with happiness. These findings suggest that improving human development is fundamental for the happiness of Indonesian citizens, especially improving expected years of schooling, mean years of schooling, and income per capita.
