Abstract

This study investigates vocational students’ perceptions of the opportunities offered by digital platforms in English language learning. The research responds to the increasing role of educational technology in the post-pandemic era and the need to evaluate its pedagogical impact on vocational education contexts. A quantitative descriptive design was employed, involving 61 students from the Broadcasting and Culinary programs at SMK Negeri 3 Pekanbaru, Indonesia. Data were collected through a 21-item Likert-scale questionnaire (Cronbach’s α = 0.825). The results show that students hold a moderately positive perception of the opportunities provided by digital platforms (M = 3.27, SD = 0.684). The highest mean scores were recorded in listening (M = 3.49), grammar (M = 3.46), and writing (M = 3.39), indicating that digital tools effectively enhance these language competencies. The findings highlight the potential of digital platforms to support flexible, autonomous, and interactive English learning. However, their full potential is yet to be realized due to limited teacher facilitation and technological barriers. The study recommends strengthening digital pedagogy training for vocational teachers and integrating digital literacy into English curricula to optimize the benefits of technology in language education.

Abstract

The MBKM Internship Program allows students to gain professional experience while simultaneously completing university courses, often requiring them to participate in distance learning. This study investigates the challenges encountered by English Education students at Universitas Lancang Kuning in managing online coursework during their internship activities and explores the strategies they employed to handle academic workloads. Using a qualitative design with thematic analysis, eight students participating in the Certified Internship Program were selected purposively. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews and document analysis. The findings reveal three major challenges in attending distance learning: information gaps caused by limited instructional explanation, communication barriers due to restricted device use during working hours, and schedule conflicts between internship responsibilities and university courses. To address these challenges, students adopted three primary strategies: maintaining peer interaction for academic support, enhancing student–teacher communication through polite and purposeful contact, and maximizing online resources to complete assignments efficiently. The study concludes that although managing both internship duties and online coursework is demanding, students can successfully navigate these dual responsibilities through adaptive communication practices and strategic use of digital resources. These findings highlight the importance of institutional support in synchronizing academic schedules and improving the quality of distance learning for MBKM participants.

Abstract

The culture within a company is increasingly recognized as a critical factor influencing its overall performance, particularly in startups where innovation, adaptability, and employee engagement are crucial to success. While numerous studies have explored the relationship between company culture and organizational outcomes, limited research has focused specifically on the financial performance of startups. This research aims to examine the influence of company culture on the financial performance of startups, identifying key cultural elements that drive profitability, growth, and long-term sustainability. A mixed-methods approach was employed, combining quantitative data from financial performance metrics of 50 startups with qualitative insights gathered through interviews with founders and key employees. The findings suggest a strong correlation between positive company culture—characterized by open communication, employee empowerment, and a collaborative environment—and higher financial performance. Startups with a culture of innovation and continuous learning tend to achieve greater revenue growth and profitability, while those with hierarchical and rigid cultures face challenges in scaling. The study concludes that fostering a supportive, flexible, and innovative company culture is essential for startup success, particularly in fast-paced and competitive industries. This research contributes to a deeper understanding of the intangible factors that drive financial outcomes in startups, offering valuable insights for entrepreneurs seeking to enhance both organizational culture and financial performance.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of various dating violence prevention programs among college students through a systematic literature review guided by PRISMA. Article searches were conducted using the publish or perish application with three databases, Google Scholar, Scopus, and Semantic Scholar. Seven articles from various databases were qualitatively analyzed to identify intervention approaches, effectiveness, and relevance to higher education settings. Findings indicate that most programs, such as SHARe, DRIVEN, Stepping Up, and SPoRT, adopted a group-based psychoeducational approach that effectively increased awareness, communication skills, and attitudes toward healthy relationships. Media-based interventions such as the STOP Dating Violence Video and visual campaigns such as the Red Flag Campaign also showed positive results in increasing bystander knowledge and efficacy. The SSS program highlighted the importance of social support for survivors. This review recommends the integration of educational, social, and media-based approaches as a comprehensive and contextually relevant prevention strategy for universities in Indonesia.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the important role of oil palm plantations as a driver of the rural economy in Laut Tador Village, Batu Bara Regency. The purpose of the community service is to analyze the economic impact of oil palm plantations on local farmers' incomes and identify the resulting multiplier effects. The method used is descriptive qualitative through interviews, field observations, and document studies. The results of the study indicate that oil palm plantations contribute significantly to farmers' incomes with an average of IDR 2–5 million per month and create employment and supporting businesses. However, farmers still face challenges such as fluctuations in FFB prices, dependence on middlemen, and minimal business diversification. The study's conclusions emphasize the need for price stabilization policies, technical assistance, and business diversification to optimize the economic benefits of oil palm plantations in a sustainable and inclusive manner.
