Abstract

AbstractThis research is a qualitative research with descriptive method that aims to determine the difficultyof students in solving word problems in terms of cognitive style in algebraic form material. Themain aspect that will be explained in this study is the difficulty of students in completing wordproblems in terms of cognitive style in the form of algebraic material for VII grade students ofJunior High School Negeri 19 Pontianak. The subjects of this study consisted of 4 students of classVII A of Junior High School Negeri 19 Pontianak who had different cognitive styles, namely FieldIndependent and Field Dependent. The results of this study indicate that students who have theField Independent and Field Dependent cognitive styles have difficulty at the stage ofunderstanding problems, planning solutions, solving problems and checking. In addition there arealso several factors that influence students' difficulty in solving story problems in terms of the FieldDependent and Field Independent cognitive styles, namely: Students lack mastering algebraicmaterial, students are less thorough and careful in solving story problems, students do not likemath lessons, students have low motivation in learning mathematics, classrooms that are lessconducive and learning methods applied in the classroom are not appropriate.Keywords: Cognitive Styles, Difficulty, Form of Algebraic

Abstract

AbstractThe research aim to describe the ability of students mathematical representation in accomplishing contextual problem of linear programming. This research used descriptive method. Subjects in this research were students of class XI MIA. Based on the analysis of research data obtained are: (1) the students ability of table representation of linear programming included in the high criteria with percentages 87,84% and the average score was 3,51; (2) the students ability of model mathematic of linear programming included in the medium criteria with percentages 68,24% and the average score was 2,73; and (3) the students ability of problem solvingrepresentation of linear programming included in the medium criteria with percentages 43,24% and the average score was 1,73. The ability of students mathematicals representation are in medium criteria with a percentages 66,44% and the average score was 2,66. Keyword:The Ability of Mathematical Representation, Contextual Problem, Linear Programming

Abstract

AbstractThis qualitative research aims to find out the understanding of student concepts based on APOS theory in integer material.The method used is descriptive. The main aspect that will be explained in this research is the understanding of student concepts based on APOS theory in integer material in the SMP Negeri 3 Sungai Raya class VII. APOS theory can be used to identify student understanding of concepts in integer material which will later be described in four stages, namely the action, process, object and scheme stage. The subject of this research consists of 6 students class VII A SMP Negeri 3 Sungai Raya who have different abilities, namely high, medium and low ability. The result of this research showed the students who are in excellent category is in the stage of the scheme, this can be seen when students can combine several integer concepts. Students who are in low and medieval category is in the action stage, this can be seen when students can fill in the instructions given correctly.Keywords: APOS Theory, Concept Understanding

Abstract

AbstractThis research aims to determine whether remedial learning which use matrix calculator can improve students’ conceptual understanding ability in matrix operation in grade XI SMAN 4 Pontianak. The research method is quantitative with pre-experimental form of research. The subject of research is grade XI SMAN 4 Pontianak. The object of the research is conceptual understanding ability of students in the operation matrix. Data obtained from the results of pretest and posttest to see students' conceptual understanding abilities. The data analysis showed that the conceptual understanding ability increased 34%. The increase is happened in each indicators conceptual understanding ability as follows: 1) the ability to mention examples and and non-examples of concepts increased 11%; 2) the ability to use, utilize and choose certain procedures or operations increased 43%; and 3) the ability to develop the terms or rules of a concept increased 39%.Keywords: Conceptual Understanding, Operation Matrix, Matrix Calculator

Abstract

AbstractThis study aims to describe the understanding of students' concepts in the matter of addition and subtraction operations of fractions which are not the same denominator. An indicator of  understanding concepts : 1) students' understanding of expressing fractions into other forms of fraction that are worth the sum; 2) students' understanding of using, utilizing, selecting procedures for addition and subtraction of fractions. This research uses descriptive method in the form of case study research with research subjects in this study were seventh grade students of Boedi Oetomo Junior High School. The results showed that in the of understanding concept that states fractions to other forms of fractions that are worth the sum in the addition operation and subtraction operation problems with different denominator are included in the good category but understanding the concept of using, utilizing, selecting the procedure for addition and subtraction operations for fractions with different denominator are included in the low category. Keywords : Understanding of concepts, Counting operation, fractions material

Abstract

Abstrak : Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematika siswa ditinjau dari number sense pada materi bilangan di kelas VII SMP Negeri 8 Singkawang. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode deskriptif dengan bentuk penelitian studi kasus. Subjek penelitian ini berjumlah 33 orang siswa kelas VII B SMP Negeri 8 Singkawang. Instrumen yang digunakan berupa tes tertulis berbentuk essay dan wawancara tidak terstruktur. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematika siswa yang memiliki number sense kelompok tinggi memperoleh rata-rata skor 69% dengan kategori tinggi. Kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematika siswa yang memiliki number sense kelompok sedang memperoleh rata-rata skor 26% dengan kategori rendah. Kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematika siswa yang memiliki number sense kelompok rendah memperoleh rata-rata skor 22% dengan kategori rendah.   Kata kunci :   Pemecahan Masalah Matematika, Number Sense, Materi  Bilangan Abstract : The purpose of this research is to describe mathematical problem solving ability of students that reviewed by number sense on numbers in 7th grade students of SMP Negeri 8 Singkawang. The method of this research is descriptive with the form of case studies. The research subjects were 33 students of grade VII B SMP Negeri 8 Singkawang. The instrument that used is written test and unstructured interview. The research result shaw that students’ mathematical problem solving ability had number sense as high classified get score rate 69% with high category. The students’ mathematical problem solving ability had number sense as medium classified get score rate 26 % with low category. AbstractThe problem in this research is how is the planning, implementation and result of learning evaluation through children's song in education character of homeland class V in MIS Al-Hidayah Tayan Hulu Sanggau? The method used in this research is descriptive method with qualitative approach. Techniques used in the form of direct observation techniques, direct communication techniques and taknik documentary studies. Tools used in the form of observation sheets, interview sheets and documents. The subjects of the study were educators and students of class V in MIS Al-Hidayah Tayan Hulu Sanggau. The results showed that teachers in the planning, implementation, and evaluation results of learning through children's songs in the education of the love character of the homeland class V in MIS Al-Hidayah Tayan Hulu Sanggau has been implemented well although still not maximal due to lack of ability of teachers in mastering the song children and facilities that have not been used optimally.Keywords: Evaluation, character learning, children's songs

Abstract

Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa setelah diberikan tugas mind map pada materi fungsi kuadrat kelas X SMA Negeri 1 Sungai Raya. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode deskriptif dengan bentuk penelitian survei. Subjek penelitian ini adalah 29 orang siswa kelas XD SMA Negeri 1 Sungai Raya. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah teknik pengukuran melalui tes tertulis yang disajikan dalam bentuk soal tes komunikasi matematis, teknik komunikasi tidak langsung yaitu tugas membuat mind map tentang materi fungsi kuadrat, dan komunikasi langsung melalui wawancara tidak terstuktur. Hasil analisis data menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa setelah diberikan tugas mind map pada materi fungsi kuadrat di kelas X SMA Negeri 1 Sungai Raya berdasarkan pencapaian indikator berada pada kategori rendah yaitu 40,22 %. Kata kunci: Mind Map, Kemampuan Komunikasi Matematis Abstract: This study aims to determinethe student's mathematical communication skill in quadratic function problem of the students class X SMAN 1 Sungai Raya by using learning method mind mapping. The research method have been used in descriptive method with survey approach. This study used 29 students in class XD for the subject research. Data collection method for this study used three approachs, there are written test that disclosed within problemsof mathematical communication, indirect communication that is the task of creating a mind map of the problems quadratic functions, and direct communication through structured interviews. Based on the data analysis, the result of this study showed that the students' mathematical communication skills by using learning method mind mapping ona quadratic function problemsin class X SMA Negeri 1 Sungai Raya are in the low category(40.22%).   Keywords: Mind Mapping, Mathematical Communication skill

Abstract

Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui peningkatan kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa dalam materi aljabar di kelas VII SMP Kemala Bhayangkari 1 Kubu Raya. Bentuk penelitian adalah pra-eksperimen dengan rancangan One-group pretest-posttest design. Sampel penelitian adalah 30 siswa kelas VII A. Sampel ditentukan melalui teknik simple random sampling. Dari hasil analisis data diperoleh skor rata-rata hasil pretest siswa sebesar 16,11 sedangkan skor rata-rata posttest siswa sebesar 41,39. Hasil analisis skor gain diperoleh rata-rata indeks gain sebesar 0,30, artinya terdapat peningkatan kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa setelah pembelajaran melalui pendekatan Pendidikan Matematika Realistik dengan kategori sedang. Hasil analisis respon siswa menggunakan perhitungan skala Likert menunjukkan bahwa siswa memberi respon positif terhadap pembelajaran matematika melalui pendekatan pendidikan matematika realistik. Kata kunci: Pendidikan Matematika Realistik, Komunikasi Matematis, Pembelajaran Matematika Abstract: This research aims to improve the mathematical communication ability of students on algebraic material in seventh grade of SMP Kemala Bhayangkari 1 Kubu Raya. This form of research is the pre-experiments with the design of One-group pretest-posttest design. The sample of this research was 30 students of class VII A. The sample is determined by simple random sampling technique. From the analysis of the data obtained, the students average pretest score is 16,11 while the students average posttest score is 41,39. The results of gain scores obtained an average gain index of 0.30, meaning that there is an increase in students' mathematical communication abilities after learning through Realistic Mathematics Education approach to the medium category. Student response analysis results using Likert scale calculations indicate that the students gave positive response towards learning mathematics through realistic mathematics education approach. Abstract

AbstractThis study aims to describe the students? mathematical problem solving at Junior High School in academic year 2017/2018. The method used in this research is descriptive method with survey research form. Subjects in this research were students at SMP Negeri 22 Pontianak class VIIID with a number of 29 students. Data collection techniques used were test and interviews. The results of the data analysis showed that students' mathematical problem solving ability were varied, some students were in the high category while the others were in low or medium category. However, generally the students' ability to identifies the elements that were known, asked, and the extent of the required elements were on the medium category (63.45%); to formulate a mathematical problem or to compile a mathematical model were on the low category (48.97%); to apply strategies in solving the problems were on the low category (44,83%); and to explain or interpret the results of problem solving elements on the low category (26.21%).Keywords : Mathematical Problem Solving, Factorization of Quadratic Equations
