Abstract

England’s Victorian period is marked as an era of historical, technological, economic, and social change. Although science and technological advancement was very progressive—denoted by the Industrial Revolution which took place in this era—the Victorian society’s ideal of moral values, norms, and beliefs was very conservative. Robert Louis Stevenson, a famous Victorian author, wrote The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde which portrays the complexity of Victorian upper class lives in dealing with the development of science yet facing the strict social norms. This research applies a sociological approach to examine the significant relations between the characterization of the three main characters in the novel—Jekyll, Hyde, and Utterson—and the social issues in the Victorian era. A library research as well as a qualitative method is applied in the process of collecting and analyzing the data. It was found that both Henry Jekyll and Edward Hyde symbolize the repressed individuals of Victorian social norms as Jekyll suppresses his inner-self and separates his dual personality apart in the form of Edward Hyde. As the representation of Jekyll’s evil side, Hyde performs violent and criminal acts which oppose the ideal of social morality. It can be concluded that Jekyll-Hyde’s characterization articulates the social criticism against the firm gentlemen image in the Victorian era. In contrast, Utterson’s characterization represents the epitome of Victorian gentleman.

Abstract

This research discusses how the characters in the novel Little Women written by Louisa May Alcott eventually submit themselves to the stereotypical role of women in the late 19th century when in reality American women were protesting the ideology of ‘separate spheres’ in accordance to the traditional gender stereotype that they faced. The research applies the sociological approach to uncover the connection between the literary work and the social condition of the era and to find out how the gender roles affect the characters of the March girls, supported by the theory of children literature. The primary data used in this research are the excerpts taken from Louisa May Alcott’s Little Women and some supporting data are taken from academic journals. The research focuses on the characters of the March Girls’ actions and dialogues that show submissive behavior, in contrast to the efforts and movement of the women during that era who were protesting the ideology of ‘separate spheres’ that resulted in inequality. The result of the research concludes that Little Women seems to be written only as a reproduction of traditional gender values, this matter contradicts with what the American women in the late 19th century struggled for.

Abstract

In the early twentieth century, African-American women in the southern United States faced double oppression as a result of patriarchy and racism. They strive to reclaim their independence, all the more so when they are bound by their marriage. Their Eyes Were Watching God (1937) is Zora Neale Hurston's magnum opus, which chronicles the objectification of a young African-American woman called Janie Crawford during her marriage. Through the lens of Black Feminism, this research aims to identify the many forms of female objectification present in the novel and to ascertain the responses taken by the main character in response to the objectification. This research makes use of Martha Nussbaum's and Rae Langton's objectification ideas. Additionally, this study employs Kumea Shorter-Gooden's resistance strategies to evaluate the main character's strategies for resisting objectification. Janie Crawford was subjected to nine distinct forms of objectification by both her first and second husbands, Logan and Jody, according to this study. Additionally, this research illustrates how Janie Crawford's opposition to objectification is fueled by the concept of self-definition. In general, the findings indicate that the novel is centered on the problem of women's objectification and is a timely representation of African American women's lives in the early twentieth century.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mencari hubungan konsep diri dan kemampuan berpikir kritis terhadap hasil belajar IPA siswa. Populasi dalam Penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas 5 di SDN wilayah Kemayoran Jakarta Pusat. Sampel diambil dengan tehnik proporsional random sampling. Hipotesis Penelitian diuji dengan analisis korelasi dan regresi. Sebelumnya dilakukan uji data dengan uji normalitas, uji homoginitas, uji linieritas, uji multikolinieritas dan uji heterokedastisitas sebagai prasyarat. Hasil Penelitian menyimpulkan, yakni (1) diperoleh hubungan antara konsep diri dengan hasil belajar IPA dengan nilai R sebesar 0,258 dengan nilai R square sebesar 0,081. (2) diperoleh hubungan antara kemampuan berpikir kritis dan hasil belajar IPA dengan nilai R sebesar 0,479 dengan nilai R square sebesar 0,229 (3) diperoleh hubungan antara konsep diri dan kemampuan berpikir kritis secara serentak dengan hasil belajar IPA dengan nilai R sebesar 0,492 dengan nilai R square 0,242. Dengan demikian, dapat disimpulkan yakni hipotesis nol (H0) ditolak dan hipotesis pilihan (Ha) yang berbunyi diperoleh hubungan yang signifikan antara konsep diri dan kemampuan berfikir kritis secara bersama-sama dengan hasil belajar IPA siswa kelas V SD di wilayah Kemayoran Jakarta Pusat diterima.

Abstract

DM tipe 2 adalah penyakit metabolik dengan karekteristik hiperglikemia yang terjadi karena kelainan sekresi insulin, kerja insulin, atau kedua-duanya. DM tipe 2 dapat menyebabkan gamgguan fungsi ginjal yang ditandai dengan peningkatan kadar ureum dalam darah. Umbi porang (A. muelleri Blume) mengandung serat larut glukomanan cukup tinggi (15–64% basis kering). Glukomanan memiliki kelebihan antara lain untuk meningkatkan fungsi pencernaan dan sistem imun, menurunkan kadar kolesterol dan gula darah, serta membantu menurunkan berat badan. Dosis porang yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah 100 mg, 200 mg dan 400 mg. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh pemberian tepung porang (Amorphophallus muelleri Blume) terhadap kadar ureum pada tikus (Rattus novergicus) strain Wistar DM tipe 2. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian eksperimental laboratorik yang menggunakan metode rancangan acak lengkap dengan menggunakan pola post test only control group design. Sampel benar-benar dipilih secara random dengan jumlah 25 ekor tikus putih dan diberi perlakuan serta ada kelompok pengontrolnya. Data kemudian dianalisis dengan uji Independent T-test. Hasil uji statistik menunjukkan bahwa tidak ada pengaruh pemberian diet tepung porang terhadap kadar ureum yang signifikan dengan p-value (0.830) > α (0.05). Saran untuk penelitian selanjutnya sebaiknya dosis 300 mg digunakan dan tikus ditempatkan dalam satu ekor perkandang. Kata Kunci : Diabetes militus Tipe 2, Porang, Ureum.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan mencari alasan mengapa Seno Nugroho meng-gunakan kendang jaipong, fungsi Kendang Jaipong, serta menganalisis motif kendang Jaipong dalam iringan Wayang Kulit Warga Laras pimpinan Seno Nugroho di Yogyakarta. Metode observasi digunakan dalam melakukan penelitian untuk mencari data tentang tempat pertunjukan, pelaku kegiatan, waktu pertunjukan, serta peristiwa di lapangan agar tujuan penelitian dapat tercapai.Meskipun dalam iringan Wayang Kulit di Sanggar Warga Laras pim-pinan Seno Nugroho telah memiliki kendang Jawa, namun kendang Jaipong yang berasal dari Sunda Jawa Barat tetap digunakan dalam mengiringi pakeliran Wayang Kulit. Alasannya antara lain: kendang Jaipong memiliki suara lebih kumplit, memberi nuansa lain terhadap lagu, kendang Jaipong bisa digunakan dalam berbagai garap karawitan, serta kendang Jaipong sudah baku/mutlak sangat dibutuhkan untuk keberhasilan pertunjukan. Adapun fungsi kendang Jaipong terdiri atas dua yaitu fungsi yang ber-orientasi pada pasar/bisnis (yaitu untuk memenuhi selera masyarakat) dan fungsi musikal (yakni sebagai iringan tari wayang dan sebagai iringan lagu).Motif kendang Jaipong yang sering digunakan dalam iringan Wayang Kulit antara lain: improvisasi, pola ayak-ayakan, pola mandiri hasil kreativi-tas seniman, serta ragam motif tepak kendang Jaipongan. Semua motif ken-dang Jaipong ditanggapi secara kreatif oleh pengendang Seno Nugroho se-hingga hasil garapannya tidak bernuansa Sunda akan tetapi bernuansa Jawa.

Abstract

Abstract,This research aims to provide empirical evidence about the influence on the effect of technological capabilities, ease, risks, and service features to customers' interest in using internet banking at Bank BRI in Banjarmasin.The population in this study are all customers who use internet banking BRI BRI in the unit In Banjarmasin, Teluk Dalam unit, Pasar Lama unit and unit Belitung. Sampling technique used was quota sampling, in which the sample is chosen technique considering a relatively short research time and research objects consist of three units of BRI office. Additionally customers who use internet banking are visiting the office unit is also relatively small, so in this study the researchers gave the quota of each office unit of 20 people. The sample taken is 60 customers who use internet banking at BRI unit Teluk Dalam, in the pasar lama and the BRI BRI unit Belitung. Types and data sources of primary data obtained through a questionnaire distributed at bank customers as respondents, supplemented with secondary data obtained from various references. Multiple Linear Regression method used to test the hypothesis that has been proposed.The results of the study provide empirical evidence that the ability of information technology partially affect the interest of customers using internet banking, convenience partially affect the interest of customers using internet banking, risk is partially affect the interest of customers using internet banking, service features partially affect the interest of customers using internet banking. While simultaneously the ability of information technology affect the interest of customers using internet banking. The coefficient of determination adjusted R Square showed a value of 0.553 or 55.3%. Shows that the value of bank customers' interest in using internet banking can be explained by the ability of information technology, convenience, risk and service features of 55.3%. If adjusted R Square has a value> 0.5 s / d 1, is to have a strong influence.

Abstract, This research about motivation influence in improving performance at Polsek Danau Panggang Hulu Sungai Utara. Motivation variable influencing performance consisted of the achievement (X1), confessing (X2), work that self (X3), responsibilities (X4), opportunity for the forward (X5), Wages (X6), condition physical work (X7), observation (X8), relation/link with the friend work (X9), security (X10) and organizational policy (X11). Population in this research is entire commisioned Police member at Polsek Danau Panggang is as much 26 member. Model the regresi indicate that pursuant to test F as a whole the model of signifikan with the storey level signifikansi = 5 %. This matter is shown by F signifikansi = 0,044 which its value less than 0,05 Influence which is between variable X1, X2, X3, X4, X5, X6, X7, X8, X9, X10 And X11 to Y is signifikan of because sig 0,044 < 0,05. Pursuant to the examination hence variable X11 (organizational policy) having an effect on compared to by bigger of other variable that is equal to 0,836 %. Where about the value represent the biggest value among other factors. This fact indicate that in biggest factor field of influence and related/relevant /its with the performance of Police member in Polsek Danau Panggang is X11 that is organizational policy.

Abstract

Abstract, This research aimed to analyze the influence of Capital Adequacy Ratio, Loan to Deposit Ratio, Operating Expenses and Operating Income Compared Net Interest Margin Of Return On Assets On Commercial Banks Listed in Indonesia Stock Exchange. The research data is in the form of bank financial statements Indonesian Capital Market Directory (ICMD) are published in the Indonesia Stock Exchange as of December 31 period 2008 - 2012. This research method is descriptive method of research that seeks to describe an event or events that occur in the present , Analysis model is intended to describe the relationship between the dominant variables can affect the performance of commercial banks listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange in determining the positive and negative banking performance. The results showed that simultaneous variables CAR, LDR, ROA and NIM significant effect on ROA. Variable CAR and LDR partially no significant effect on ROA.

Abstract

Abstract, This reseach aims to analyze the quality of services measured by reliability, reliability, responsiveness, assurance, emphaty, tangibles at the maternal and child hospital of annisa banjarmasin. The research method used is descriptive method. The population of this study is all inpatients at the Maternal and Annisa Special Hospital in 2016 which amounted to 960 people. Samples taken are as many as 100 people. The conclusions of this study are the services that should be improved on the services of reliability ie doctors, nurses and hospital personnel must arrive on time, especially the schedule of doctor's arrival that does not change so that does not make patients wait. Aspects of responsiveness ie doctors should give longer time to consult and explain in detail the treatment solution that will be given to the patient. Aspect tangibles the hospital should pay attention to the location of the parking for comfort and safety of patients and families.
