Abstract

Membentuk serat optik menjadi tiga lingkaran tanpa pengelupasan buffer memiliki nilai linearitas terbaik. Kata kunci : serat optik, Polymer Optical Fiber (POF), rugi—rugi serat optik, pembengkokan (bending) Abstrack This study aims to determine the effect of number of optical fiber trajectories and buffer peeling on optical power output and to know the best sensitivity and linearity in circular mass measuring sensors. Fiber optic used is Polymer Optical Fiber (POF) type SH-4001-1.3. The circle is formed with a diameter of 5 cm, the variation of the number of circles is 1 circle, 2 circle and 3 circle. In addition to varying the number of circles, also given variations on the buffer. Then the optical fiber is given the pressure above it with a maximum mass of 1 kg. He-Ne laser with 5 mW endurance and 632.8 nm wavelength used as light source. The light intensity of the POF will perform the detection using a voltage follower circuit as a multilayed digital receiver. The number of loop and buffer peels can affect the POF ouput. The value of light intensity on the optical fiber that is exfoliated and formed three circles contains the greatest power weakening when given the mass so it has the best sensitivity. Forming optical fiber into three circles without peeling buffer has the best linearity value. Keywords: optical fiber, Polymer Optical Fiber (POF), optical fiber loss, bending

Abstract

Kata kunci :Polymer Optical Fiber, sensor temperatur, gel AbstractThis study aimed to determine the effect of gel color variations at the junction and the temperature changes to the output intensity of the optical fiber inserted gel. The researcher also specified a gel color providing the greatest intensity changes, the best sensitivity and linearity of the temperature sensor. The optical fiber used by researcher was the Polymer Optical Fiber (POF) SH-4001-1.3 type. This POF had 1.49 core refractive index and 1.41 cladding refractive index. The gel was inserted between the optical fiber with 1 cm length in a small tube with color variations, then they were treated with temperature changes, so it affected the intensity. The Optical power outputted by POF was detected by Optical Power Meter (OPM). The light source used by researcher is a He-Ne laser with 632.8 nm wavelength and 5 mW output power. The results showed that the insertion of optical fiber connection with the different gel colors could affect the intensity of optical fiber output. The largest intensity output changes was shown by the yellow inserted fiber. At the (10-50)°C temperature, along with the higher temperature, the intensity would be greater. The best sensitivity value was the transparent gel with (0.0522±0.0007) dBm/°C gradient when it was heated, and (0.0517 ± 0.0004) dBm/°C when it was cooled. The best linearity was shown by the red gel with 0.99587 determination coefficient when it was heated and the gel changed to be yellow when it was cooled with 0.99744 value. Keywords : Polymer Optical Fiber, temperature sensor, gel

Abstract

Teaching physics is sometimes difficult to convey without using props or visualizations. Simulations can help teachers create and demonstrate real conditions in front of the class. In this article, we describe the usage of spreadsheets in simulating Gibbs free energy in mixing polymer solutions. We have created an model for the simulation consisting of a main spreadsheet and several secondary spreadsheets. A spreadsheet was chosen to simulate Gibbs free energy because spreadsheets can perform numerical representations in tables. This simple simulation can be used when discussing the topic of polymer thermodynamics. Teachers can start by deriving mathematical equations and then show simulations to visualize the equations. Another option is for students to be asked to create their simulations after deriving a mathematical equation. Using simulation in learning can make learning more interactive and help students understand material physics subjects more easily. Spreadsheets can be an alternative for teachers when explaining abstract material to students. Furthermore, simulations with spreadsheets can also support physics learning remotely.

Abstract

The assessment of material elasticity science process skills in high school students requires validated and reliable instruments. This study aims to develop and validate a set of multiple-choice questions using the Rasch model to ensure their suitability for educational assessments. This quantitative research employed a model approach based on the Rasch model. The instrument consisted of multiple-choice questions designed to evaluate material elasticity science process skills. The validation process included two stages: content validation and construct validation. Content validation involved eight practicing teachers as validators, while construct validation was conducted with a sample of 32 high school students. Data analysis was performed using MNSQ infit, MNSQ outfit, delta, discrimination index, item differential power, and item difficulty level, with the assistance of Quest data analysis software. The results of the analysis from Quest revealed that only 10 questions met the Rasch model criteria. Among these, question number six was identified as the most difficult. The validation process demonstrated that the developed questions are appropriate for assessing the targeted skills based on the Rasch model. The findings indicate that the validated instrument is reliable and suitable for evaluating material elasticity science process skills in high school students. This study underscores the importance of rigorous validation processes in developing educational assessments. The developed multiple-choice questions, validated through the Rasch model, are feasible for use in assessing material elasticity science process skills. Future research should explore the application of this instrument in various educational contexts to further confirm its reliability and effectiveness across different student demographics.
