Abstract

One of the skills that students must have in the 21st century is critical thinking skills. The learning model that can develop critical thinking skills is the model of problem-based learning (PBL). The purpose of this study is to measure the critical thinking skills of students in sciencelearning model problem-based learning (PBL) based on local wisdom using the Rasch model. The critical thinking skills test was given to 36 students of class VII A and VII B at SMP Negeri 6 Sungai Penuh. The samples in this study were divided into control and experimental classes selected through the purposive sampling technique. Data collection techniques used tests and observation sheets. The data obtained were analyzed through a quantitative descriptive approach using the help of the Rasch model program with Winsteps software. The study results explained that problem-based learning (PBL) of local wisdom can improve critical thinking skills on student learning outcomes with Rasch analysis. The unidimensional value indicates that the test measures one dominant variable, namely students' critical thinking skills, with a raw variance value of 42.3% (good) and a variance value of < 15% in the ideal test category. The results of the item reliability test using winstep indicate item reliability and person reliability of 0.44 and 0.45 with a Cronbach's alpha value of 0.91 (reliable). These results indicate that the items on the items are normal and valid in measuring students' critical thinking skills.

Abstract

Purpose of the study: This study aims to evaluate the quality of items in retention and transfer tests related to additive and addictive substances. Using Rasch modeling, the study seeks to enhance the management of learning evaluations and improve our understanding of student abilities and question quality. Methodology: The research utilizes the Rasch Model to analyze retention and transfer test instruments on science topics involving additives and addictive substances. Conducted with Winstep software, the analysis focuses on the performance of 92 purposively sampled 8th-grade students during their first semester of junior high school. The study examines retention and transfer abilities, comprehensively evaluating the test items. Main Findings: The Winstep program analysis reveals that, according to the Rasch model, the average ± MNSQ Outfit values for both items and persons are 0.92. The Outfit ZSTD values for items and persons are -0.12 and -0.01, respectively. The instrument's reliability, measured by Cronbach's alpha, is 0.60, indicating moderate reliability. The research findings demonstrate that each item in the instrument is valid and reasonably reliable, with all 20 items deemed suitable for assessing student performance in retention and transfer tests. Novelty/Originality of this study: This study offers a detailed examination of retention and transfer test instruments' quality using the Rasch Model, providing valuable insights for enhancing the accuracy and reliability of these assessment tools. The research significantly improves educational assessments in science education, particularly in evaluating students' understanding of additives and addictive substances.

Abstract

Bullying is a serious problem among adolescents today. The impact of bullying on adolescents is very broad, including mental health problems such as depression, anxiety, and low self-esteem. GIAT Bullying (Happy Without Bullying) is a community service program designed to provide positive thinking training to adolescents as an effort to prevent bullying behavior. This program recognizes that bullying is a serious problem that can affect the psychological and emotional well-being of adolescents. Therefore, through a series of trainings and workshops, this program aims to equip adolescents with the skills and knowledge needed to deal with, prevent, and stop bullying. Positive thinking training, as the core of this program, is aimed at helping adolescents develop a healthy and positive mindset, which in turn can minimize their risk of becoming victims or perpetrators of bullying. Community service activities were carried out at SMPN 21 Tanjung Jabung Timur in September 2024 with the results of the community service showing an increase in the ability of teenagers to carry out positive thinking exercises and an increase in knowledge about bullying. Thus, GIAT Bullying makes an important contribution to creating a safe and supportive environment for adolescents, where they can grow and develop without fear or threat of bullying.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to explore and analyze the relationship between science process skills and 21st-century skills in science learning through the Systematic Literature Review approach. Data collection was carried out using a reference manager application, namely Publish or Perish. The search strategy used keywords developed from the main concepts, namely science process skills and 21st-century skills in science education. The collected data were then stored in *.ris format for further analysis using VOSviewer software. Bibliometric analysis was used to assess opportunities for future scientific research. This study used metadata from 400 articles. This metadata was extracted from the Scopus and Google Scholar databases. Metadata was evaluated using Vosviewer to build its visualization. This mapping process consists of three types of visualizations, namely network visualization, density visualization, and overlay visualization. The results of the study indicate that science process skills are closely related to 21st-century skills, especially in terms of critical thinking, computational thinking, and inquiry-based learning.

Abstract

Teachers have an important role in the successful implementation of ethnomathematics in the classroom. Teachers need to have a comprehensive understanding of the context of ethnomathematics. This study aims to develop an instrument for measuring prospective teachers' ethnomathematics knowledge. The instrument was developed in the context of Jambi culture. This research is development research using the Plomp Model, which consists of three stages, namely: 1) preliminary research stage, 2) prototyping stage, and 3) assessment stage. The instrument developed consists of seven indicators and 43 items. Five experts in the fields of cultural studies and mathematics education carried out the instrument validation. The instrument was tested on 74 prospective mathematics teachers. The results show the instrument for measuring ethnomathematics knowledge of prospective mathematics teachers that was developed meets the criteria of unidimensionality, validity & reliability and does not indicate item bias. Therefore, this instrument is appropriate for use in measuring the ethnomathematics knowledge of prospective mathematics teachers in the Jambi cultural context.

Abstract

The underlying issue of this research is the high prevalence of bullying among adolescents, which adversely affects their mental health, social well-being, and academic development. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of the Upright Project as a preventive measure against bullying in school-aged adolescents. A quantitative approach was employed with a quasi-experimental design, specifically a quasi-experimental pre-posttest with control group, to measure changes in bullying behavior and student resilience levels before and after program implementation. The sample consisted of 113 students aged 12 to 18, identified as a vulnerable group to bullying experiences. Bullying victimization levels were assessed using a questionnaire, and data were analyzed using univariate and bivariate techniques with Wilcoxon and Mann-Whitney tests. The findings revealed that the implementation of the Upright Project significantly reduced reported cases of bullying. Additionally, there was an improvement in students' resilience in coping with adversity. Posttest analysis indicated significant differences between the intervention and control groups, with the intervention group demonstrating the program's effectiveness. This study concludes that the Upright Project is an effective intervention for reducing bullying behavior and enhancing student resilience. These findings highlight the importance of implementing similar intervention-based programs to create safer school environments that support adolescent development.
