Abstract

Timely positive feedback to students pursuing a Ph.D. program motivates completion.  Drawing upon Skinner's Reinforcement theory and Lakoff and Johnson's Conceptual Metaphor Theory (CMT), this study aimed at uncovering metaphors employed in feedback practices by exploring the linguistic expressions of supervisors and peers, which encouraged students to complete their Ph.D. studies in Australia. The methodology employed the use of a semi-structured interview to delve into the lived experiences of two Indonesian Ph.D. students (currently EFL lecturers) during their studies in Australia. The results that the use of positive expressions from supervisors and peers strongly motivated the students to complete their Ph.D. programs. The four types of expressions used served to praise, give hope, give direction as feedback to support completion, and reminders to keep the student on track. The following expressions were commonly used to motivate completion: "Do not worry, mate, you will get there," and "Wow, it's great work! I understand it is not easy to write academically in such good English, but you did." These expressions metaphorically imply that:  "PhD study is a journey," and "Work speaks louder than words." These findings suggest that positive verbal feedback from supervisors' and peers' can motivate PhD students' completion.

Abstract

Semarang city, as a metropolitan city, has not escaped the development of online transportation. There are several online transportation that are often used, namely Gojek, Grab and Maxim. The existence of online transportation can provide additional choices of transportation modes that can be used. Choosing online transportation to carry out daily activities cannot be separated from the push and pull factors for each individual which are definitely different. Therefore, this research aims to determine the factors that influence Semarang University students' preferences for using online transportation. This research was conducted using quantitative methods and multiple linear regression analysis techniques. Overall internal factors influence USM students' preferences in using online transportation, namely (0.720) or 72%. However, the main factors that influence this are feelings of stress, difficulty getting parking and not having a private vehicle. Meanwhile, external factors as a whole influence USM students' preferences for using online transportation, namely (0.680) or 68%. The main factors that influence this are punctuality and ease of using online transportation.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis dampak metode pengajaran terhadap prestasi siswa pada mata pelajaran IPS di SMPN Kabupaten Tebo, Indonesia. Enam sekolah menengah pertama dengan status negeri, yakni: SMPN 01, SMPN 10, SMPN 22, SMPN 24, SMPN 28, dan SMPN 46 sebagai sampel. Pada penelitian ini menggunakan 418 kuesioner diberikan kepada responden. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode studi kasus. Pada bagian analisis data menggunakan deskriptif kuantitatif berbantu SPSS 23. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa metode pengajaran ceramah paling banyak digunakan oleh guru dibandingkan yang lain (44,6%). Hasil penelitian juga mengungkapkan bahwa 31,58% siswa yang menjawab mengatakanmereka tidak mengetahui metode guru yang sebenarnyadalam mengajar mereka. Penelitian ini hanya mencakup SMP berstatus negeri yang berada di Kabupaten Tebo, provinsi Jambi, Indonesia. Hasil penelitian ini tidak dapat digeneralisasikan untuk tingkatan yang lebih luas. Disarankan untuk penelitian berikutnya mengambil responden dalam lingkup yang lebih besar seperti provinsi, ataupun negara. Manfaat penelitian ini membantu Kementerian Pendidikan yang bertanggung jawab pada pendidikan menengah dan semua pemangku kepentingan untuk memahami realitas keadaan pendidikan menengah di wilayah studi untuk meminimalisir masalah tersebut. Selain itu, penelitian ini dapat direplikasi di wilayah studi lain yang memiliki karakteristik serupa.

Abstract

Proses tempering merupakan  proses pemanasan kembali baja yang sudah dilakukan hardening dan quenching. Penelitian kali ini memiliki rumusan masalah tentang bagaimana dilakukan pengujian heat treatment dengan variable  tempering yang berbeda, dampak terhadap struktur mikro dan kekerasan, serta pengaruh media pendinginan. Tujuan dari dilakukan penelitian ini yaitu untuk mengetahui proses mana yang memberikan hasil terbaik setelah dilakuakan tempering dengan variable berbeda. Pada penelitian ini digunakan material aja karbon S55C untuk diberikan perlakuan panas kemudian menganalisa perlakuan panas terseut terhadap nilai struktur mikro dan kekerasan pada baja S55C. Komposisi dari Baja Karbon S55C terdiri dari 0,55% C, 0,15% Si, 0,6% Mn, 0.02% P, 0,03% S, 0,2% Kr, 0,2% Ni, 0,3% Cu. Standarisasi pengujian kekerasan menggunakan metode Rockwell D dan untuk pengujian metalografi menggunakan stamdar ASTM E3. Pada pengujian ini, perlakuan panas divariasikan dengan metode quenching menggunakan air dan oli, kemudian adanya perlakuan tempering terhadap material pada suhu 300⸰C dan 600⸰C. Pengujian ini mendapatkan hasil Pada pendinginan menggunakan air struktur yang terbentuk dominan martensit, sedangkan pada pendinginan menggunakan oli struktur yang terbentuk ferrit, perlit dan sedikit martensit. Hal ini karena laju pendinginan menggunakan air lebih cepat, sehingga struktur martensit terbentuk. Kemudian perlakuan tempering menunjukan adanya penurunan kekerasan yang sebanding dengan kenaikan suhu tempering. Dengan demikian didapatkan hasil urutan terbaik untuk perlakuan panas material S55C pada pada spesimen B, dengan perlakuan quenching menggunakan oli dan tempering pada suhu 300⸰C. Menghasilkan struktur mikro dominan Perlit dengan kekerasan 36,3 HRD.Kata kunci : Baja S55C, Perlakuan panas, Kekerasan, Metalografi

Abstract

In the operation of the Bukit Asam power plant, in all generating units there are many disturbances that can cause derating the units. Derating of the unit can occur due to decrease in the performance of the steam turbine, decrease in the reliability of the pulverizer, and also disturbances in the coal supply system and various factors. Based on the performance data of the Bukit Asam Generation Sector (Monthly disturbance report) in January 2014, there were 54 derating disturbances recorded. One of the causes of the derating was a broken Pulverizer Shaft with a loss of operating hours for 196.78 [hours] which caused an unallocated electricity loss of 12,422 [GWh]. With the realization of AFI (Action For Improvement) in this final project creation assignment, it aims to redesign the shaft pulverizer, as well as analyze the causes of the pulverizer shaft break. By redesigning the pulverizer shaft and analyzing the cause of the pulverizer shaft breaking, it was found that the cause of the fracture of the shaft made from AISI 1045 with the old design was from calculating the shear stress value of 48.44 x 107 [N/m2], this result exceeded the value of the material permit voltage of 31.8 x 107 [N/m2], so it was not safe to use and the service life was not long. The results of the redesign shaft changed the dimensions of the diameter of the shaft head which was previously 0.174 [m] in diameter to a dwelling of 0.25 [m]. The results of calculating the redesign shaft made from AISI 1045 obtained a shear stress value of 16.33 x 107 [N/m2], this result is smaller than the material clearance voltage value of 31.8 x 107 [N/m2], so it is safer with a relatively longer service life.Keywords: Derating, Pulverizer Shaft, material, Redesign, Shear Stress

Abstract

Stunting is a condition where a child's growth is hampered, resulting in a short body, and the leading cause is malnutrition. This research aims to determine the relationship between maternal knowledge and stunting prevention behavior in children aged 3-5 years. This research used a cross-sectional design with a simple random sampling technique and obtained 68 samples from 80 populations. Analysis was carried out using the Spearman rank test. The results of the Spearman rank test show a p-value <0.05, so it can be concluded that there is a relationship between maternal knowledge and stunting avoidance behavior in children aged 3-5 years in the BLUD UPT Puskesmas Patimpeng District. Bone. Health workers should be able to educate the public about the nutritious food they need

Abstract

This research aims to examine the basic reasons for the judge's consideration of granting marriage isbat requests to unregistered polygamists. Is it appropriate for a judge to grant a request for isbat for a polygamous marriage that has not yet completed the administrative requirements. Types of normative legal research with a statutory approach. The results of the research show that the judge's consideration in the Religious Court Decision Number 161/PDT.G/2014/PA.TLG in granting the request for isbat marriage to polygamy was correct, but the judge ignored the administrative requirements that must be fulfilled by applicants for marriage isbat. In terms of procedures, there is no difference between polygamous marriage isbat and non-polygamous marriage isbat. However, the polygamy agreement has additional conditions. For this reason, Religious Court judges in their considerations must look at the fulfillment of these additional conditions as a basis for granting a request for marriage isbat for polygamy.

Abstract

This research discusses the habituation of the Qailulah program with the main focus of research increasing the discipline in study time of class I students at SDIT Cahaya Fikri Bontang in the era of digitalization. The aim of this research is to find out how discipline in studying time can be improved in the era of digitalization through familiarizing students with the Qailulah program. Qailulah, known as napping, is the main discussion in this research. Lack of rest and no nap time for students will affect cognitive and affective abilities, including students disciplinary attitudes. This emphasizes the importance of getting used to the Qailulah program for students at school. The type of research used is qualitative. The data collection methods used were observation, interviews and documents, data analysis using data reduction, data presentation and drawing conclusions. Research is carried out directly. The research results show that familiarization with the Qailulah program can minimize excessive use of technology and make students more focused and emotionally stable so that their ability to discipline their study time can increase. Therefore, the Qailulah program can be a habit in disciplining the study time of class I students. In conclusion, the Qailulah program can improve the discipline of students' study time in the era of digitalization by using technology according to learning needs and requiring direct guidance from teachers and parents.

Abstract

This research aims to explore and investigate the implementation of IT-based inquiry learning in enhancing the learning enthusiasm of Islamic Education for grade V students at SDIT Yabis Bontang during the academic year 2023/2024. The method used is qualitative with data collection through observation, interviews, and documentation. The subjects are students, and the results of the research show that the systematic application of IT-based inquiry learning by teachers creates a dynamic and interactive learning environment. The use of technology such as computers and projectors makes learning materials more interesting and easier for students to understand, which increases their activeness in asking questions, discussing, and collaborating. Observations and interviews revealed that students are more enthusiastic and frequently attend classes, and show improved academic results. Teachers reported that this method helps students understand religious concepts better and more relevantly. Overall, the implementation of IT-based inquiry learning has proven effective in enhancing learning enthusiasm and student engagement, creating varied and interesting learning, and improving their critical thinking skills.

Abstract

Mathematical representation ability is an important ability in understanding mathematical concepts as an effort to obtain clarity of meaning and understanding in solving problems. Technology-based learning media can simplify the learning process thereby helping students in representing mathematical problems. This research aims to determine the increase in students' mathematical representation abilities using Geogebra software. This research is quantitative research with a quasi-experimental type. The population is students of class XI MIPA at SMA Negeri 1 Lhoong Aceh Besar for the 2023/2024 academic year consisting of 2 classes totaling 60 people. There are 30 people in Class XI MIPA 1 as an experimental class with the Geogebra software learning media, and 30 people in XI MIPA 2 as a control class without the Geogebra program learning media. The data collection technique in this research is using Pretest and Posttest. Meanwhile, the data analysis techniques used in this research are descriptive statistical analysis and inferential statistical analysis. The results of the research showed that there was an increase in students' mathematical representation abilities who were taught using Geogebra software media in class XI MIPA students at SMA Negeri 1 Lhoong. Most students answered the questions according to indicators of mathematical representation ability in the form of visual, symbolic and verbal representations.
