Abstract

Today's high school students receive sharp attention from society. This happened because there were many bad incidents involving high school students, including brawls between high school students. The family system perspective study is an argument that provides insight into how family involvement in formal education can be implemented. This research uses a qualitative approach with the type of library research. This research aims to explain how a family intervention perspective can contribute to the implementation of independent character education. The results of this study show that although the idea of family intervention is developing in North American families, Indonesian culture has not developed well. Meanwhile, this family intervention perspective can be considered as a comprehensive perspective of school counselors and can be a bridge for solving student problems. In accordance with the basic idea, which explains that individuals live, develop and change cannot be separated from the structure and influence of the family, students as an important part of family life are subjects who participate in forming an overall family structure. In this article there is a description of the intervention perspective and the possibility of its application in the context of comprehensive character education.

Abstract

A counselor will be said to be professional if he is able to master the concepts and practice of assessment to understand students' conditions, needs and problems, master the theoretical and practical framework of Guidance and Counseling (BK), design a BK program, implement a comprehensive BK program, assess the process and results of BK activities , have awareness and commitment to professional ethics and master the concepts and practice of research in BK. This research is development research. The needs analysis stage was carried out using the survey method. However, in reality there are still many counselors who have not mastered all of the above competencies. This is also due to the large number of duties and responsibilities of school counselors in dealing with student problems compared to the number of counselors in schools. Ideally one counselor handles 150 students at school (Permendiknas No. 27 of 2008). However, in reality in the field, based on observations at several high schools (SMA) in the city of Malang, counselors hold more than 150 students and some even hold more than 500 students. From the description of the data as presented, it can be concluded as follows. (1) Many counselors complain about the school atmosphere which does not allow counselors to carry out counseling well, (2) Counselors need alternative individual service strategies because they have difficulty applying counseling approaches in all situations, (3) Counselors must be creative in implementing counseling services and strategies to provide good service to students.

The act of phubbing has been observed to disengage from their surroundings, often finding greater comfort in solitude with their mobile phones. The research objective was to ascertain the efficacy of solution-focused brief group counseling to reduce phubbing behavior in high school students. This study employed a quasi-experimental quantitative research methodology with a pretest-posttest control group design. A total of 10 students, exhibiting a high level of phubbing behavior, were divided into two groups: the experimental group and the control group. The results of the Two-Independent-Sample Test-Mann-Whitney U test are presented in the Asymp .sig column, with a value of 0.036 (0.036 <0.05). The results show that the value of Asymp. sig. which is smaller than 0.05, that is, there is a significant difference between the experimental and control groups. These results indicate that solution-focused brief group counseling may be an effective approach to reducing phubbing behavior in high school students.

Abstract

Santri is required to be able to make social adjustments because they are in the same environment. Social problems will arise when students cannot adjust to the dormitory environment, resulting in non-achievement of social responsibility development tasks and disrupting students' academic activities. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of systematic desensitization techniques in reducing students' social anxiety disorder. The research method used was a single-subject study with the A-B-A1-B1 reversal design. The sampling technique used purposive sampling with the criteria of male and female students of class XI MAN, who had never participated in systematic desensitization therapy and were willing to participate in the entire series of counseling. The intervention used is a systematic desensitization technique. The data collection instrument used measuring social anxiety disorder and direct observation. Data analysis was performed by visually analyzing the data under and between conditions. The direction of the trend is analyzed using the split-middle method to obtain a more certain data measure by calculating the median value of each condition. The results of this study indicate that the systematic desensitization technique effectively reduces students' social anxiety disorder.

Abstract

Learning independence is important for students today. The application of learning strategies must be considered with the advantages, disadvantages and uniqueness of student learning styles. Habit is a meeting between knowledge (knowledge), skills (skills), and desire (desire). To strengthen students' independent learning, counselors need to provide up-to-date services, one of which is the SOS-MB (SOS-Learning Independence) application. This application contains game material features, start playing and check independence. This research and development model uses the ADDIE model to develop the SOS-MB application and manual. From the results of product development, namely the SOS-MB application and guidebooks that have been tested for acceptability based on the criteria, usability, attractiveness and convenience aspects, it also turns out that the products developed can be accepted and used by school counselors. Also strengthened by the results of statistical tests that the application can be used for independent learning for junior high school students with the Wilcoxon test obtaining asymp sig.(2-tailed) 0.012 less than 0.05.

Abstract

Recently, social media has been an integral part of adolescents’ life, serving as a medium for their self-actualization. On the other hand, adolescents use social media for hostile activities, such as bullying. This study describes Instagram as a platform for cyberbullying as it allows students to demonstrate their hedonist lifestyle. In this study, we used a descriptive qualitative approach. For the data collection, we involved two senior high school students, who were selected through purposive sampling with the criteria of undertaking cyberbullying acts to fulfill their needs for a hedonist lifestyle. The data were collected through structured interviews and documentation. The obtained data were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model, which consisted of three stages, namely data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion making. The data validity was examined using the data triangulation technique. Our findings suggested that students commit cyberbullying to fulfill their lifestyle and attain recognition from their surroundings. Thus, the school’s guidance and counseling service should further regard our findings in providing the guidance and counseling services.
