Abstract

The provision of mathematics for autistic students has not gained a special concern. In fact, many autistic children have good mathematical skills and some are even excellent. It imposes teachers to formulate and create effective strategies to teach autistic students. The purpose of this study was to determine teacher behavior and how to teach students with autism effectively. This study was designed as a qualitative case study research. It involved mathematics teacher, assistant teacher, student, and parents. Data were obtained through observations and interviews. The autistic student's attitude and behaviors during mathematics learning were investigated. It included examinations on the supporting and inhibiting factors in mathematics learning in a school for students with special educational needs/SLB. The result indicated that mathematics learning for students with autism as performed in inclusive education was different from regular education programs, in which teachers were required to adjust materials with students' psychological condition. It also revealed that the students had had focus issues; hence materials were mostly conveyed outside the lesson plan, particularly to introduce the basic material. The supporting factors included parents' motivation for the student to learn and behave appropriately and well-designed learning packages. Meanwhile, limited learning media and school facilities, as well as the absence of special teachers for students with autism, became the inhibiting factors for mathematics learning.

Abstract

Kitchens are the highest source and continuously produce organic waste, therefore it is necessary to manage the waste in order to reduce the bad impact caused. This activity was carried out in the form of counseling, using the lecture-feedback method with power point slide media, followed by a demonstration and practices on how to make eco-enzymes. Participants were given counseling on the impact of garbage piles that are thrown in any place, the impact of burned waste, and how to manage organic waste produced from the kitchen into useful products to help preserve the environment. The results of the service showed that this activity had been able to increase the knowledge and skills of farmers and women farmers in Manggalung Village, Mandalle District in processing kitchen organic waste into a multi-benefit product. This is shown by the number of participants who attended, the response, enthusiasm, and good participation during the activity, as well as the results of the practices of making and applied the eco-enzymes at their respective homes and planting areas. The quality of the eco-enzyme produced had met the standard with indicators such as brownish color, fresh sour smell, pH 3.4 and no maggots. The results of this community service activity are very important because the target group can already manage and utilize waste into something valuable.

Abstract

This research aims to investigate the influence of constructivist-based learning on mathematical abilities in mathematics education through a meta-analysis study. The research employed a meta-analysis method by reviewing several articles with experimental test types, resulting in 15 data points that met the criteria related to constructivist-based learning and its effects on mathematical abilities in mathematics education. The Effect Size and Standard Error values were manually calculated using Microsoft Excel, and the data were analyzed using JASP software. The analysis results indicated that the 15 studies analyzed showed heterogeneity (Q=40.607, p<0.001). The Random Effect model analysis resulted in a significant outcome (z=9.023, p<0.001, 95% CI), indicating that the impact of constructivist-based learning on mathematical abilities in mathematics education falls under the high category. To address potential publication bias, the Fail-safe N value was computed using the Rosenthal formula. Since K (number of analyzed studies) was 15, the obtained Fail-safe N value was 1397 with a significance level target of 0.05 and p<0.001. As the Fail-safe N value exceeds the Fail-safe NSK value (where the criterion is Fail-safe N + 10), it can be concluded that there is no publication bias issue in this meta-analysis study.

Abstract

This study aims to understand the implementation of Islamic moral values in educational leadership at SMA IT Baitussalam Prambanan. Employing a qualitative case study approach, data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The data were analyzed thematically using data condensation, display, and conclusion drawing, and validated through source triangulation. The findings reveal that the principal successfully integrated Islamic values—Siddiq (truthfulness), Tabligh (communication), Amanah (trustworthiness), and Fathanah (wisdom)—into all aspects of leadership. Habituation programs, such as congregational prayers and Islamic etiquette, effectively shaped student character and strengthened relationships among school stakeholders. Furthermore, an adaptive and collaborative leadership style fostered innovation and created a harmonious working environment. Despite challenges such as initial resistance and the influence of global culture, approaches based on empathy and effective communication proved successful in overcoming these barriers. This study highlights the importance of Islamic leadership as both an ethical foundation and a practical framework for managing educational institutions in the modern era.

Abstract

Understanding environmental literacy is essential for prospective physics teachers to develop responsible behaviors in responding to environmental changes. However, assessing attitudes toward the environment remains challenging due to the limitations of existing instruments. This study evaluates the feasibility of an environmental affect instrument designed for prospective physics teachers in environmental physics courses. The research employed Thiagarajan’s 4D development model, which consists of four stages: define, design, develop, and disseminate. The instrument was validated by experts and users, with expert validation analyzed using Aiken’s V, user validity assessed through Pearson correlation, and reliability measured using Cronbach’s Alpha. Data analysis was conducted using Microsoft Excel and SPSS 16.0. The findings indicate that the developed instrument is highly valid, with an Aiken V value of 0.83 from expert validation. User validation resulted in 18 valid items and two invalid ones, while the reliability coefficient (Cronbach's Alpha) was 0.81, indicating high reliability. Consequently, 18 out of the 20 developed items are suitable for broader implementation. These findings provide a valuable tool for physics education lecturers and study programs in assessing students' environmental attitudes.

Abstract

Lad Contamination in Roadside Soil and Plant and Effect of Organic Matter Amendment (Sabaruddin, D Budianta and Mardia):  Roadside soils and plants may be the most important sink of lead (Pb).  It has been widely known that soil organic matter (SOM) plays important roles in determining concentrations of metals in soil solution and their extractability from the soil.  To investigate Pb contamination in the roadside soils and plants, as well as the effect of organic matter (OM) on the soluble Pb in the roadside soils, surface soils (0 to 20 cm) were collected from a busy road.   The soils were incubated for 4 weeks under room temperature after being treated with 0, 30, 60 and 90 Mg ha-1 of OM.  Leaves of oil palms (Elaeis guineensis) planted on the roadside were also analyzed for Pb content.  Current study revealed that Pb content in roadside soils and leaves of oil palm was 1.5 and 5.5 times higher than the safe level of Pb in soil and plant.  It confirms that both soil and plant at the study site were contaminated by Pb.  Current study also showed that SOM amendment significantly (P<0.01) affected soluble Pb content in the soils.  Adding OM to the soil at 30 Mg ha-1 to correct the level of SOC from very low to low was sufficient to significantly reduce soluble Pb in the soils.  However, the application of 60 Mg ha-1 of OM triggered the increases in soluble Pb in the soils.  Further increases in OM application to 90 Mg ha-1 resulted in significant increases in soluble Pb as compared with that in the soil receiving 30 Mg ha-1 of OM.  In spite of the increases, the level of soluble Pb in the soils receiving 60 and 90 Mg ha-1 of OM was still much below the safe level of Pb in soil.

Abstract

Relationship between the Organic Matter Content with Post Harvest Period of Forest Industrial Plant Acacia mangium Willd (Sabaruddin, S.N.A. Fitri, and L. Lestari): Timber harvesting may have significant effects on soil organic matter content through mechanical disturbance, inputs of logging slash, alterations in litter production, and leaching of dissolved organic matter, as well as the alteration of temperature and moisture regimes.  To investigate the effect of post-harvest period of tree harvesting on the dynamics of soil organic matter content, surface soils (0 to 10 cm and 10 to 20 cm) were collected from intact Acacia mangium Willd. plantation (control) and from A. mangium Willd. harvested in 2001, 2002, 2004, and 2006 in four replicates.  Each replicate consisted of composited 4 sub-samples.  Timber harvesting reduced litter accumulation on soil surface.  However, the amount of litter accumulated on soil surface increased as post-harvest period increased.  Timber harvesting significantly (p<0.001) affected soil organic matter content both in 0 to 10 cm and 10 to 20 cm.  The increases in soil organic matter content were significantly correlated (r=0.85; p<0.001 in 0 to10 cm and r=0.62; p<0.01 in 10 to 20 cm) with post harvest period.
