Abstract

The impact of the Covid-19 pandemic has highlighted the importance of gamification in education, with Quizizz emerging as a popular tool for interaction between teachers and students. This systematic review focuses on previous research examining the effects of Quizizz on vocabulary skills, particularly among English as a Foreign Language (EFL) learners. Adhering to the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines, the study accessed ten journal articles published between 2019 and 2024 via Google Scholar and Crossref. Through rigorous review processes, including inclusion and exclusion criteria, this review investigates how Quizizz is utilized in educational settings to enhance student vocabulary skills. The findings underscore Quizizz's potential to offer engaging features that facilitate vocabulary learning and improvement among students The practical implications of this study suggest that EFL teachers should consider integrating Quizizz into their classrooms. Quizizz can effectively complement traditional teaching methods or be utilized independently for vocabulary practice. Future research should explore the long-term effects of using Quizizz on vocabulary retention, its applicability across different proficiency levels, and its impact on students' motivation for vocabulary acquisition.

This study aims to find out how well role play helps young EFL students in developing speaking skills, how role-play activities impact students' motivation to use English, and whether there are any challenges that might prevent role play from being used successfully in the classroom. The study uses a qualitative methodology, evaluating the effect of role play on motivation and speaking skills through observations and both teachers and students’ opinions. According to research, role play greatly improves students' speaking abilities by creating a lively and attractive learning environment that also increases intrinsic motivation. In addition to improving language learning, role play also encourages social interaction and minimizes levels of stress in learners, according to the discussion of the data. This study offers a conceptual and empirical contribution by highlighting the importance of active learning methods in learning a language and providing examples of successful teaching methods for young EFL students.

Abstract

Technology integration has become an important aspect of English language teaching, especially in private Islamic schools. Although novice teachers are familiar with technology, there is a gap between the potential of technology and its integration in achieving learning objectives and little intensity of previous studies discussing challenges faced by novice teachers’ technology integration in English language teaching in an Islamic private secondary school. This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness and identify challenges of technology integration by a novice teacher in grade 11 at an Islamic private secondary school in North Bali. It was a case study designed under a qualitative approach, combining semi-structured observations using the Triple-E framework rubric and structured interviews with a single novice teacher. The Triple-E framework showed a score of out 9 of 18 which means technology integration has a moderate level of effectiveness, showing a partial connection between learning objectives and technological tools. The semi-structured interview results exposed several challenges, including technological limitations, workload, school policies regarding mobile phone use, and low student participation. This study highlights the need for institutional support, strategic training, and more flexible policies to maximize the potential of technology in English language teaching. This study is expected to provide new insights into the effectiveness and challenges faced by novice teachers in integrating technology for English language teaching in an Islamic private school context.

Abstract

This study examines the readiness and concerns of junior high school English as a Foreign Language (EFL) teachers in Badung, Bali, regarding the integration of Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) into English Language Teaching (ELT). Using an explanatory sequential mixed-methods approach, the research involved 165 teachers who completed a survey adapted from Aydin and Tasci’s E-Learning Readiness Model and followed by interviews analyzed through the Concerns-Based Adoption Model (CBAM). Quantitative findings reveal that 87.3% of teachers were at moderate to high levels of readiness, particularly in the dimensions of Technology and Innovation. The People Factor scored lowest, indicating limited institutional support and training. Teachers also expressed strong personal motivation (Self-Development Factor), although hindered by budgetary and structural challenges. Qualitative analysis revealed that most participants had progressed beyond the Awareness stage of CBAM and were actively utilizing GenAI tools in instructional planning. Some even reached advanced stages such as Collaboration and Refocusing. However, ethical-pedagogical concerns emerged, particularly regarding students’ dependence on AI. The findings underscore the importance of tailored training, targeted policy support, and ethical guidance to ensure the successful and sustainable integration of GenAI in English Language Teaching (ELT).

Abstract

Traditional games are regional games in Indonesia that contain cultural values to train behavior and sharpen the cognitive and motor skills of individuals. However, along with the development of the times, traditional games are increasingly eroded by technological advancements and social changes, so they are becoming less commonly played by children today. This study aims to provide an overview of research trends on traditional games through a Systematic Literature Review of articles published in Scopus-indexed journals from 2020 to 2022. The analysis method used in this study is bibliometric, with the assistance of Publish or Perish (PoP) software utilizing the Google Scholar database and VOSviewer for visual data mapping. The bibliometric analysis process is carried out in five stages: (1) determining search keywords, (2) collecting initial data, (3) filtering results, (4) compiling initial statistics, and (5) analyzing data. Based on the keywords used, 86 relevant articles were identified. The results of the study show that traditional games are effective in improving physical fitness and shaping students' character

Abstract

The addition of local wisdom to the curriculum is a very relevant issue, considering that Indonesia has a very diverse cultural wealth. Although various studies and publications have been conducted on various topics and levels of education, a comprehensive study of how local knowledge is used in the science curriculum at the senior high school (SMP) level is still relatively limited. This study aims to explore in depth the implementation of local wisdom in the science curriculum at junior high school. The approach used is a systematic literature review, by analysing 20 scientific articles published between 2015 and 2025 and indexed in the Scopus and Google Scholar databases. The integration of local knowledge in middle school science classes has great potential to improve the quality of education while supporting the preservation of local culture. This integration process can be applied through various forms of activities, including intracurricular, co-curricular and extracurricular. In intracurricular activities, local wisdom is adapted into teaching materials, learning methods, learning media, and evaluation systems. Co-curricular activities may include the Pancasila Student Profile Strengthening (P5) programme, environmental education, field studies, and educational visits. Meanwhile, in extracurricular activities, integration can be done through traditional arts such as puppet shows. It is expected that through this approach, there will be improvements in science literacy, ecoliteracy, science process skills, disaster knowledge, critical thinking skills, and overall student learning outcomes.
