Abstract

The development of Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) has transformed assessment practices in English as a Foreign Language (EFL) learning, particularly through the emergence of AI humanification, where the boundaries between authentic student writing and AI-generated text become increasingly blurred. This study aims to analyze secondary school English teachers’ readiness in addressing these challenges. This research employed a sequential explanatory mixed-method design involving 23 EFL teachers from nine senior high schools in Buleleng Regency, selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using a modified Readiness Artificial Intelligence Scale (RAIS) questionnaire and semi-structured interviews. Quantitative data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, while qualitative data were analyzed using thematic analysis. The findings reveal a structural imbalance in teacher readiness. While teachers demonstrate high levels of technological self-efficacy in using AI, their ability to detect AI misuse and verify student authenticity remains limited. Teachers adopt adaptive strategies such as restricting device use, implementing oral verification, and repositioning AI as a supportive tool rather than a substitute. These findings imply that teacher readiness is multidimensional and develops unevenly, highlighting the need for assessment redesign, ethical governance, and institutional support to maintain academic integrity in AI-mediated learning environments.

Abstract

Digital transformation in education, particularly post-COVID-19, has accelerated a major shift towards online learning. While it offers flexibility, this transition has also had significant impacts on students' mental health, including stress, anxiety, and digital burnout due to intense virtual interactions. This study aims to examine the relationship between cyber pedagogy, digital burnout, and students' mental health in the context of online learning. Using a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach, this research collected and analyzed 11 articles published between 2015 and 2025 through the Scopus, Web of Science, and Google Scholar databases. The analysis process was conducted following the PRISMA guidelines, focusing on the relationship between cyber pedagogy and its impact on students' mental health. The results show that digital burnout and mental health disorders are significant challenges often overlooked in digital learning design. Cyber pedagogy, with proper management, can help reduce the psychological gap between students and the learning environment, while also improving students' well-being. This study emphasizes the importance of a more responsive and humanistic pedagogical approach in designing digital learning, which not only focuses on technical aspects but also supports students' mental health sustainably.

Abstract

Ethnomodelling has emerged as a bridge between ethnomathematics and mathematical modelling, yet its conceptual boundaries and methodological applications remain fragmented. This review examines how culturally situated mathematical practices are transformed into mathematical models, learning tasks, digital resources, learning trajectories, and curriculum designs in mathematics education. Guided by PRISMA 2020 principles, this study employed a systematic review and conceptual synthesis. Relevant studies were identified through database searching and citation chasing using multilingual keywords in English, Indonesian, Portuguese, and Spanish. After duplicate removal, title and abstract screening, full-text assessment, and quality appraisal, 26 empirical, design-based, and conceptual studies were included. A hybrid SPIDER/PICo framework guided study selection, data extraction, and thematic-conceptual analysis. The synthesis revealed four major trajectories: theoretical ethnomodelling grounded in emic, etic, and dialogical translation; modelling of cultural artifacts such as architecture, calendars, Indigenous number systems, games, food practices, and symbolic patterns; classroom and digital design through worksheets, GeoGebra, and learning trajectories; and equity-oriented humanization of mathematics through local and Indigenous knowledge. Ethnomodelling should be understood as culturally situated mathematical modelling, not decorative cultural contextualization. Future studies need stronger designs, clearer outcomes, and ethical engagement with the communities from which cultural knowledge is derived.

Abstract

Existing studies on AI literacy have largely focused on students, leaving EFL teacher preparedness underexplored. This study aims to explore the level, determinants, barriers, and recommended solutions regarding AI literacy and EFL teachers’ readiness. Using the SLR method with PRISMA guidelines and Lame’s (2019) framework, this synthesized six empirical articles published between 2022 and 2025 from the Google Scholar database. The findings report that AI literacy and EFL teachers’ readiness are classified at a moderate level. The majority of determinants include internal and external factors. Next, this study identified significant barriers such as limited infrastructure, lack of professional development training, ethical concerns, and AI anxiety. To address these challenges, recommended strategies include continuous professional development based on the AI-TPACK framework, the formulation of clear institutional ethics policies, and the adoption of peer mentoring models. Ultimately, there is a strong positive correlation between AI literacy and teacher preparedness. This study provides a foundational framework to assist educational institutions in designing future-ready professional competency standards for EFL educators.

Abstract

Generative artificial intelligence (AI) such as ChatGPT is increasingly integrated into English as a Foreign Language (EFL) writing instruction. However, empirical evidence in vocational high school contexts remains limited, particularly concerning its impact on academic integrity. This quasi-experimental study examined the effects of ChatGPT-assisted writing instruction on students’ writing performance and plagiarism awareness. Sixty-eight tenth-grade students from a vocational high school in Bali were assigned to an experimental group (ChatGPT-assisted process writing with academic integrity guidance) and a control group (conventional instruction). Students completed a descriptive writing test and a plagiarism-awareness questionnaire. Data were analyzed using one-way MANOVA. The results revealed a significant multivariate effect, with the experimental group outperforming the control group in writing (M=73.76 vs 62.76) and plagiarism awareness (M=134.00 vs 88.85). These findings highlight ChatGPT’s potential to enhance both writing proficiency and academic integrity when integrated with explicit instruction on paraphrasing, citation, and ethical AI use.
