Abstract

The mangrove ecosystem is one of the coastal ecosystems that plays an important role in climate change mitigation due to its ability to absorb and store large amounts of carbon, especially in sediments (below ground carbon). Sedimentary carbon is relatively stable and stored for a long period of time, making its presence an important indicator in blue carbon studies. This study aims to analyze the potential of mangrove sediment carbon storage in Bagek Kembar Village and Cemara Beach, Lembar Selatan Village, West Lombok Regency. The study was conducted from August to December 2025 using a quantitative descriptive method. Sediment sampling was carried out by purposive sampling in three mangrove zones, namely the front, middle, and back zones. In each zone, sediment samples were taken at three depth intervals, namely 0–30 cm, 30–60 cm, and 60–100 cm, resulting in a total of 18 samples analyzed. Analysis of organic matter and sediment carbon content was carried out using the Loss on Ignition (LOI) method, while bulk density was used as a physical parameter of the sediment for calculating sediment carbon stocks. The results of the study showed that the bulk density value of mangrove sediment in Bagek Kembar Village ranged from 0.51–0.62 g/cm³ with an average of 0.57 g/cm³, while at Cemara Beach, Lembar Selatan Village ranged from 0.44–0.69 g/cm³ with an average of 0.60 g/cm³. The carbon stock of mangrove sediment in Bagek Kembar Village was higher than that of Cemara Beach, Lembar Selatan Village. This difference was influenced by the density of mangrove vegetation, the organic matter content of sediment, as well as the environmental characteristics and water dynamics at each location. This study shows that both locations have good potential as sediment carbon stores and need to be managed sustainably.

Abstract

Purpose of the study: This study aims to describe the planning of lecturer competency development, organization of lecturer competency development, implementation of lecturer competency development, supervision of lecturer competency development, evaluation of lecturer competency development at the Syekh Abdul Halim Hasan Binjai Institute. Methodology: This research method is a qualitative research method with a phenomenological research approach. This research was conducted to build knowledge through understanding and discovery based on a methodology that investigates a phenomenon and problem. Data collection techniques used are observation, interviews, documentation studies. Data management consists of data reduction, data display/data presentation, data analysis, drawing conclusions for research results. Main Findings: The findings reveal that while the institute demonstrates strong commitment to improving teaching quality, several issues persist, such as limited resources, insufficient integration of technology, and supervision focused mainly on administrative compliance rather than pedagogical enhancement. The evaluation process also tends to emphasize attendance and reporting rather than measurable improvement in teaching skills or student outcomes. The study highlights the need for a more reflective and data-driven approach to faculty development, emphasizing participatory planning, effective feedback mechanisms, and the establishment of long-term evaluation systems. Novelty/Originality of this study: The novelty of this research lies in its holistic assessment of lecturer competency development within an Islamic higher education context, bridging managerial and pedagogical dimensions. The implications extend to policy and practice in higher education, suggesting that competency development must transition from procedural routines to transformative learning experiences.

Abstract

The growth of pakchoy is determined by the availability of nutrients around its root system. Research on the effect of bokashi and NPK fertilizer on pakchoy vegetative growth was conducted from May to August 2025. This study aimed to measure the increase in pakchoy growth after being given bokashi and NPK fertilizer. The pakchoy planting experiment was conducted using a completely randomized design with two factors. Pakcoy was planted in experimental pots, given bokashi treatment 3 days before planting and given NPK fertilizer 15 and 22 days after planting. The results of the experiment showed that: (1) the vegetative growth parameters of pakchoy given 1.5 g of NPK fertilizer were significantly different from the control, except for leaf width, (2) the vegetative growth parameters of pakchoy given 1.6 kg of bokashi were significantly different from the control, except for leaf width, (3) The interaction of bokashi and NPK fertilizer did not significantly affect the vegetative growth of pakchoy.
