Abstract

Stunting, a condition resulting from chronic malnutrition and recurrent infections, is a serious threat to child growth and development. Sangasanga Dalam Village, located in Kutai Kartanegara Regency, faces a high prevalence of stunting with 39 cases in June 2023. This study aims to increase the knowledge of posyandu cadres regarding complementary feeding as an effort to prevent stunting. By involving 29 posyandu cadres, counseling activities and the practice of making complementary foods were carried out at Wisma Ria Pertamina EP Sangasanga Field. Pre-tests and post-tests were conducted to measure the cadres' knowledge before and after the intervention. The results of statistical analysis showed a significant increase in the cadres' knowledge after the intervention, with a p-value <0.05. The enthusiasm of the cadres was evident from the attendance of 29 participants, exceeding the initial target of 20 cadres. The interactive learning process involved a nutritionist from Sangasanga Dalam Health Center, who provided a detailed understanding of making complementary food according to the age of the child. This study concludes that the SIAP-MPASI activity succeeded in increasing the knowledge of posyandu cadres about complementary food. The approach of counseling and practice with nutritionists proved effective in improving the cadres' understanding. Therefore, stunting prevention efforts can be improved in Sangasanga Dalam Village.

Abstract

Cardiorespiratory endurance is the ability of the body's circulatory and respiratory system to meet the oxygen needs of the muscles as a source of energy production during sustained physical activity. One of the factors that influenced the level of cardiorespiratory endurance of a person was physical activity. Objective: To determined the relationship between physical activity and cardiorespiratory endurance. Methods: It was an analytic observational with a cross-sectional study. Data were taken from primary data that were measured directly on 97 students of the Medical Study Program at Mulawarman University who were selected using a purposive sampling technique. The data collected included physical activity using the Global Physical Activity Questionnaire (GPAQ) and cardiorespiratory endurance using Queen's College Step Test. The statistical analysis used was Spearman's correlation test with a significance value of p <0.05. Results: The statistical test showed that the relationship between physical activity and cardiorespiratory endurance was p = 0.003 and r = 0.295. Conclusion: There was a significant positive relationship between physical activity and cardiorespiratory endurance, and the relationship's strength was weak. Keywords:  cardiorespiratory endurance, global physical activity questionnaire, physical activity, queen’s college step test

Abstract

Adolescence is a period of transition toward adulthood. One of the key public health concerns for the government is the prevention of anemia in adolescent girls. Iron deficiency anemia is a global issue. This study aims to describe the adherence of adolescents in consuming iron supplement tablets in Dukuh Village. Method: This research is a quantitative study. The population consisted of 261 respondents, with a sample of 73 adolescent girls selected using a purposive sampling technique. The study was conducted in Dukuh Village, Bayat, Klaten, from July 1, 2024, to July 30, 2024. Abstract

ABSTRACT Honey and propolis from stingless bees have been reported to promote wound healing due to their anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, antibacterial, and moisturizing activities. However, variations in compounds and biological activities of these products can arise due to geographical and bee origin differences. This study aimed to investigate the wound healing potential of stingless bee honey and propolis from East Kalimantan in an acute wound animal model. Honey and propolis from stingless bees have been reported to promote wound healing due to its anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, antibacterial, and moisturizing activities. However, variation of compounds and biological activities of these products can arise due to geographical and bee origin differences. This study aimed to investigate the wound healing potential of stingless bee honey and propolis from East Kalimantan in acute wound animal model. A post-test only control group design was employed in this study. Fifteen Wistar rats were divided into 3 groups, i.e., a control receiving tulle and treatment groups receiving stingless bee honey and propolis, respectively. Wound healing activity was evaluated from wound diameter changes and histological evaluations following hole punch wound. Kruskal Wallis test results showed no significant changes in the proliferation phase of wound healing, as reflected by the diameter changes (p = 0.989), the rate of histopathological re-epithelization (p = 0.730) as well as number of fibroblasts (p = 0.779), collagen (p = 0.779), and neovascularization (p = 0.756) among the groups. Honey and propolis from stingless bees have the potential to treat acute wounds in the proliferation phase where their wound healing properties are equivalent to tulle. Keywords: Acute Wound, Stingless Bee, Honey, Propolis.
