The National Police of the Republic of Indonesia, also known as Polri, is a governmental agency responsible for upholding security, enforcing laws, and safeguarding public order. The selection process for recruiting police officers is a crucial stage in assessing the calibre of potential candidates. This study use a literature review methodology to gather and evaluate diverse literature sources pertaining to pertinent subjects. The research findings demonstrate the significance of implementing a merit-based system in the recruitment and selection process to acquire highly skilled, promising, and competent National Police non-commissioned officers, irrespective of political affiliation, race, ethnicity, religion, nationality, gender, marital status, age, or disability status. However, the merit system is currently not being implemented properly due to deviations from established rules and other hurdles encountered at each level of the selection process.

The phenomenon of economic inequality is a problem that deserves attention, because it can become a social problem. One of the social problems caused by economic inequality is crime. Crime itself is often defined as a behavior that violates the law so that a person can be entangled with the law. Poverty has a major influence on the encouragement of criminal behavior both in the long and short term. This research uses the Literature Review study method by collecting, evaluating, and synthesizing all papers relevant to a particular research topic. The purpose of the literature review is to present a comprehensive understanding of the existing literature and identify knowledge gaps that justify further research. the data source used in this research is secondary data. Based on the results of a review of 5 journals that have been conducted, many factors can influence the occurrence of crime, but generally socio-economic factors are a big reason that causes a person to decide to commit the crime of theft. Socioeconomic factors themselves are caused by a person's inability to fulfill their daily needs, as a result of their employment status and social status.

Abstract

The influence of ethics and integrity on police misconduct is an important topic in security and social justice in Indonesia. This journal examines the influence of ethics and integrity on police misconduct in Indonesia, including abuse of power, corruption and human rights violations. This is a serious issue that affects public trust in police institutions. The application of ethics and integrity in police practice and how this influences the level of police misconduct remains a challenge. The aim of this research is to identify types of deviance by police officers and to provide recommendations on how to improve the ethics and integrity of police officers in order to minimize deviant behavior. This research uses qualitative methods by collecting data from relevant sources through literature searches in academic databases and digital libraries. The research results show that ethics and integrity have a significant influence on deviance among police officers. Police officers who have strong ethics and integrity are less likely to engage in deviant behavior. On the other hand, police officers who have weak ethics and integrity are more susceptible to deviant behavior. Therefore, it is important to strengthen the ethics and integrity of police officers through various efforts, such as education and training, leadership, organizational culture, and supervision systems, so as to reduce deviant behavior within the organization.

Abstract

The authority of the police in law enforcement in Indonesia originates from Law Number 2 of 2002 concerning the Indonesian National Police. According to this law, the primary duties of the police are to maintain public security and order, enforce the law, and provide protection, guidance, and service to the community. The police are also granted the authority as investigators, which involves the process of identifying the perpetrators who violate the rights of suspects. The police are also tasked with the prevention and eradication of narcotics, as stated in Article 81 of Law Number 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics. Additionally, the police have a duty to Hak Asasi Manusia (HAM). The authority of the police in law enforcement in Indonesia is part of a legal system that influences the fairness and orderliness of society. However, as mentioned in the work of R. Abdussalam, there are instances where the police take actions that do not align with the guidelines set by the law, which can violate other human rights.

Abstract

The National Police of the Republic of Indonesia (Polri) is an institution that plays a crucial role in maintaining public security and order. The recruitment and selection process in the police force is a very critical initial stage to ensure that only qualified candidates are accepted. The recruitment process includes announcements, registration, administrative selection, physical selection, written tests, psychological tests, interviews, and medical examinations. Psychological tests are important to assess the emotional stability and character of the candidates. The "Good Cop and Bad Cop" interrogation technique is often used in investigations. The career path in Polri is divided into Tamtama, Bintara, and Perwira, with each level having specific promotion criteria. The stringent recruitment and selection process ensures that only qualified individuals are accepted as members of Polri. A structured career path helps in the professional development of members and builds public trust in Polri. Transparency and accountability in this process are essential to prevent nepotism and corruption.
