Abstract

The main problem in this study was the low science learning outcomes of fourth-grade students at SD Negeri Poboya. The initial results indicated that most students had not yet achieved the minimum mastery criteria, either individually or classically. This situation required the use of a more effective learning strategy to improve students’ understanding. Therefore, this study applied the inquiry method, which emphasizes active student involvement in observing phenomena, discovering concepts, and drawing conclusions based on their own learning experiences. The research employed Classroom Action Research conducted in two cycles, each consisting of planning, action, observation, and reflection stages. The findings revealed that the inquiry method significantly improved students’ science learning outcomes. In the first cycle, the classical mastery level was only 63% with an absorption rate of 64.21%. After improvements in the second cycle, classical mastery increased to 100% with an absorption rate of 88.42%. These results demonstrate that the inquiry method not only enhanced learning outcomes but also created a more interactive, enjoyable, and motivating learning atmosphere, encouraging students to actively engage in understanding science concepts.

Abstract

Student learning styles have an influence on the learning achievements achieved by students. This research aims to describe learning styles on the learning achievements of class IV students at SD Inpres 3 Tondo. This research uses qualitative research with descriptive methods. The data collection technique used in this research is observation, interviews and documentation. Learning style is the easiest way for individuals to absorb, organize and process the information they receive. An appropriate learning style is the key to student success in learning. Visual learning style is a learning style by looking, observing, looking and the like. The strength of this learning style lies in the sense of sight. Auditory learning style is a learning style by listening. Kinesthetic learning style is a style of learning by moving, working and touching. Learning achievement is the result of measuring students which includes cognitive, affective and psychomotor factors after following the learning process which is measured using relevant test instruments. Achievement students have similar preferences, with the intensity of learning styles increasing from visual to kinesthetic, then auditory. The kinesthetic learning style occupies second place in their learning style hierarchy. Meanwhile, JE and EV show the same trend with the intensity of learning styles increasing from auditory to kinesthetic, then visual.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine whether there is a relationship between beginning reading ability and the learning outcomes of third-grade students at SDN Panjo. This research employed a quantitative approach with a correlational research design. The subjects of this study were all 24 third-grade students of SDN Panjo. Data were collected through observation, beginning reading ability tests, and documentation of students’ learning outcomes. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive statistical analysis to describe students’ beginning reading abilities and learning outcomes, as well as inferential statistical analysis to examine the relationship between variables. The inferential analysis used the Spearman Rank correlation technique, as the data were not normally distributed and the sample size was relatively small. Hypothesis testing was conducted at a significance level of 5% (α = 0.05) with a sample size of 24 students. The results of the inferential statistical analysis showed that the calculated correlation coefficient (r_calculated) was greater than the critical value (r_table), namely 0.490 > 0.404. This finding indicates that there is a significant relationship between beginning reading ability (variable X) and students’ learning outcomes (variable Y) of third-grade students at SDN Panjo.

Abstract

The main issue addressed in this study is the low learning outcomes of fourth-grade students at SDN Inpres Koya in the science subject, particularly on the topic of force. The researcher implemented the Student Teams Achievement Divisions (STAD) cooperative learning model in science lessons on force for fourth-grade students at SDN Inpres Koya. The STAD cooperative learning model consists of six phases: (1) conveying objectives and motivating students, (2) presenting information, (3) organizing students into learning groups, (4) guiding groups to work and learn, (5) evaluation, and (6) providing rewards. This study employed Classroom Action Research (CAR) and was conducted in two cycles, each consisting of two meetings. The results of Cycle I, which focused on types of forces, indicated that classical student mastery reached 80% with an average score of 72. In the first meeting, teacher activity observation reached 82% and student activity observation reached 86%; in the second meeting, teacher activity observation increased to 86%, while student activity observation was 76%. In Cycle II, teacher activity observation reached 88% and student activity observation reached 91% in the first meeting; in the second meeting, teacher activity observation increased to 94% and student activity observation to 95%. Furthermore, in Cycle II, the percentage of classical student mastery increased to 90%, with an average score of 73. Therefore, it can be concluded that the implementation of the STAD cooperative learning model can improve learning outcomes on the topic of force for fourth-grade students at SDN Inpres Koya.
