Abstract

The objectives of this study are: 1) To determine the benefits of refugia plants (Zinnia elegans Jacq. and Cosmos caudatus) on the intensity of whitefly (Bemisia tabaci) infestation in edamame soybean (Glycinemax (L.) Merrill) plants, 2) To examine the relationship between edamame soybean plant damage (Glycine max (L.) Merrill) and the harvest results, and 3) To evaluate the research results in the form of a poster that is suitable for use as a biology learning resource. This research uses both descriptive qualitative and quantitative methods. The study employs two treatments: edamame soybean fields planted with refugiaplants and edamame soybean fields without refugia plants. The data were analyzed using pest infestationintensity analysis and the Independent Sample T-Test. Based on the research results, the use of refugia plants had a beneficial effect on reducing the intensity ofwhitefly infestations in edamame soybean plants. The intensity analysis showed that refugia plants are effective in suppressing whitefly infestation. Based on T-test analysis, there was no significant difference in the harvest yield of edamame soybeans between fields with and without refugia plants. The validation analysis of the learning resource indicates that this study is suitable as a biology learning resource in the form of a poster.

Abstract

The Maros-Pangkep region in South Sulawesi is a tropical karst landscape not officially mapped as an active fault zone, yet it has exhibited increasing micro-seismic activity in recent years. This study investigates the potential existence of hidden faults through hypocenter relocation using the double-difference method. A total of 191 earthquake events with magnitudes of 1-2.6 were successfully relocated using BMKG catalog data and the IASP91 global velocity model. The resulting hypocenters form a northwest–southeast-trending cluster, with fault plane geometry of 333°–346° strike, 8°–9° dip, and ~11 km length. These events cluster along boundaries of the Tonasa, Camba, and intrusive rocks, where competence contrast and karstification localize deformation. To complement the spatial analysis, magnitude–frequency characteristics were evaluated using the Gutenberg–Richter relationship. The estimated b-value of 1.34 indicates a low-stress regime dominated by small-magnitude seismicity, consistent with distributed deformation in brittle, heterogeneous lithologies. Although micro-seismic in scale, the spatial and statistical patterns suggest the presence of a structurally weak and potentially seismogenic zone that is not reflected in current tectonic maps. These findings underscore the importance of including the Maros–Pangkep region of South Sulawesi in seismic hazard assessments and land management efforts. The integration of relocation techniques and seismicity statistics proves effective for detecting latent fault structures in complex karst settings. In addition to seismic risks, such activity may accelerate land degradation through sinkholes, aquifer disruption, and ground instability, highlighting the value of geophysical assessments in managing vulnerable karst environments.

Abstract

The Internet of Things (IoT) has become a technological innovation that brings many benefits in various sectors, but also presents challenges, especially in terms of cybersecurity. One of the main threats is malware, which can damage devices, steal data, and disrupt system performance. With the increasing use of IoT, malware attacks on IoT devices are a serious concern. Previous research shows that malware detection models in IoT devices still have shortcomings, especially in terms of accuracy. One of the algorithms used in malware detection, Naïve Bayes, has been shown to provide low accuracy results. This study aims to improve the accuracy of malware detection on IoT networks by applying Ensemble learning techniques using traffic data from the IoT-23 dataset. The methodology used refers to the CRISP-DM (Cross Industry Standard Process for Data Mining) framework, which includes the stages of domain understanding, data understanding, data preparation, modelling, evaluation, and deployment. The results show that Ensemble learning improved the performance of individual models. Naïve Bayes as a single model produces an accuracy of 0.24, increasing to 0.35 when combined with AdaBoost, and 0.99 when combined with XGBoost. The combination of the three models also produced an accuracy of 0.99. These results demonstrate the effectiveness of ensemble learning in improving malware detection accuracy in IoT environments.

Abstract

The fall armyworm (FAW), Spodoptera frugiperda, is one of the major pests of maize, exhibiting high adaptability and causing significant losses to agriculture in Indonesia. An environmentally friendly approach to controlling FAW infestations involves using local toxic plants, such as Cerbera odollam, also known as Bintaro, which contains cardenolide glycosides, saponins, and alkaloids with potential as botanical insecticides. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of the methanol extract of C. odollam leaves on the locomotion and exploration activities of FAW larvae. The test was conducted using the leaf dip method at concentrations of 0, 1000, 2000, and 4000 ppm, with six replications. The samples were then analyzed and observed using the Organism Video Tracking Application ToxTrac v2.96. Results showed that higher extract concentrations led to a decrease in larval speed, from 17.48 mm/s to 1.83 mm/s, and a reduction in exploration area, from 48 to 9. In addition, larval immobility duration (freeze activity) increased nearly sevenfold compared to the control. These findings indicate that C. odollam shows promise as a natural insecticide that repels FAW larvae by limiting their movement and exploratory behavior.

Abstract

Abstract

Traditional Indonesian dances serve as a vital expression of cultural identity and regional heritage, yet their preservation through intelligent video recognition remains limited due to technical challenges in motion complexity, costume variation, and the lack of annotated datasets. Prior research commonly employed Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) with manually defined hyperparameters, which often resulted in overfitting and poor adaptability when applied to dynamic and real-world video inputs. To overcome these limitations, this study proposes a robust and adaptive classification framework utilizing a hyperparameter-tuned CNN model. The approach automatically optimizes key training parameters such as learning rate, batch size, optimizer type, and epoch count through iterative experimentation, thereby maximizing the model’s ability to generalize across both static and temporal data domains. The model was trained using image datasets representing three traditional dances (Gambyong, Remo, and Topeng), and subsequently tested on segmented frames extracted from YouTube videos. Results indicate strong model performance, achieving 99.67% accuracy on the training set and 100% accuracy, precision, recall, and F1-score across all testing videos. The proposed method successfully bridges the gap between still-image learning and real-world motion recognition, making it suitable for practical applications in digital archiving and cultural documentation. This study’s contribution lies not only in the model’s technical effectiveness but also in its support for preserving intangible cultural assets through intelligent and automated video-based recognition. Future work may incorporate temporal modelling or multi-camera perspectives to further enrich motion understanding and extend the system to broader performance domains.
