Abstract

Teaching and learning English for millennials requires a different  approach from previous generations unfamiliar with digital technology advances.  This paper tries to discuss and see how English teachers insert digital technology (WHAT) into the classroom learning process. To obtain the data for this study, the researchers observed a teacher (HOW) inserting digital technology into learning. The researchers used recording techniques (audio and video) and field notes to complement the observation technique. The observations show that the teacher applies the active student learning method by applying the principle of time distribution for students and teachers. The teacher only uses up to 15% of the available time allocation, and students have more than 85% of the time to do and practice the points on the learning material. Students get extensive opportunities to experience learning with the aim that they will gain and be able to improve 1) their digital skill; 2) the growth and improvement of the students' self-confidence and other soft skills. The students' Youtube content.

Abstract

The purpose of writing is to convey to readers whether a book or work deserves a response from the public or not. Besides that, it is also to give considerations to other works of art such as plays, films, and a performance. Because the considerations conveyed by reviewers must be adjusted to the tastes of readers, a review published in a magazine may not be the same. The method we use in reviewing a book entitled "This Is Me" is the reporting method. The reviewers intentionally describe the contents of the book, and expresses the opinion through details that the reviewers select and omit. The reviewers would present the result of the review. This book has the benefit of encouraging readers of any age, whether young or old, to love themselves without having to worry about what other people think. Become a more confident person, and the story teaches the readers that even if someone falls and gets hurt, they have to do their best until it is time to heal. Such mental strength grows when one has the drive to make it even better. This book seems easy to understand because the language used by the author is light and contains many motivational sentences. This book really helps teenagers to believe more in their potential without worrying about other people's comments that harm them. This book manages to package the problem as well as the solution. There are case studies and motivational sentences that can encourage readers. The conclusion is if one feels that one cannot love him or herself, he or she does not know themselves deeply, and they still ignore other people's negative words. This book will guide the readers to solve the personal problems everyone is experiencing. By reading the book, it will make the readers or individuals can do various things without thinking about negative comments from other people.

Abstract

Movies always have an impact on society based on the message they convey. The film's message has the   potential to influence the audience's thinking and behaviour. This review examines the socioeconomic disparity depicted in the film Miracle in Cell No. 7 in order to highlight the message conveyed. The purpose of this review is to discover the conflicts shown in the film, as well as the messages included and packed by the filmmaker. The Robert N. Etman Media Text Framing Analysis model was used to analyze this study, which includes four research analysis tools: problem identification (defining the problem), causal interpretation (estimating the problem or source of the problem), moral evaluation (making a moral decision on the problem), and treatment recommendations (emphasizing problem solving) with a critical perspective within the Frankfurt School's critical  theory paradigm. The findings of this study reveal that the components that depict conflict in this film are drawn from societal occurrences. Reviewers can use the    framing model to uncover messages in the film, such as praiseworthy messages or good attitudes.

The primary purpose of this research is to dissect the “LUBER” slogan, examining its linguistic and rhetorical features, its intended functions within the electoral context, and the underlying meanings it conveys to the Indonesian electorate. By undertaking this analysis, we aim to provide a comprehensive understanding of how the slogan operates as a discourse tool in shaping public perception and participation in the upcoming general election. The study employs a two-fold methodological approach, incorporating document study and critical discourse analysis (CDA). Document study involves a comprehensive review of official election materials, speeches, and campaign documents, while CDA focuses on dissecting the language, rhetoric, and discursive strategies employed in the “LUBER” slogan. The analysis reveals that the “LUBER” slogan strategically combines linguistic elements to convey a message of transparency, inclusivity, freedom, and confidentiality in the electoral process. Through CDA, we uncover how the slogan operates as a powerful discourse tool, influencing public opinion and fostering a sense of civic responsibility. Additionally, the study identifies subtle nuances in the language used, shedding light on the socio-political implications of the “LUBER” slogan. In conclusion, the “LUBER” slogan serves as a multifaceted discourse tool in Indonesia’s 2024 general election, embodying the principles of transparency and democratic values. Abstract

In the era of globalization and rapid international trade, business correspondence has emerged as a crucial tool for effective cross-cultural communication and professional success. This study aims to examine the role of English business correspondence in international business management, focusing on its linguistic features, communication strategies, and the challenges faced by non-native speakers. The research employs a qualitative descriptive method supported by content analysis of real-life business letters, emails, and memos collected from multinational companies. In addition, interviews with professionals and language instructors were conducted to identify the key skills required for writing effective business correspondence. The analysis reveals that clarity, conciseness, and formal tone are vital elements that define successful business writing. Moreover, intercultural awareness and pragmatic competence significantly impact the tone and appropriateness of communication in diverse business environments. Findings also indicate that learners of English for Business Purposes (EBP) often struggle with vocabulary selection, cultural politeness norms, and organizational structure in written messages. The study concludes that mastering English business correspondence requires a combination of language proficiency, cultural sensitivity, and real-world practice. It recommends incorporating authentic business writing samples into teaching materials, developing learner awareness of formal language structures, and providing consistent feedback. These findings are particularly useful for English educators, corporate trainers, and international business professionals aiming to enhance communication competence.

Abstract

This study explores the central role of speaking in second language acquisition (SLA), highlighting its importance in communication, intercultural interaction, and the development of communicative competence. The research aims to identify challenges learners face in developing oral proficiency and to evaluate pedagogical strategies that enhance speaking performance. Using a qualitative descriptive approach through document analysis, the study reviews applied linguistics and English as a Foreign Language (EFL) literature published between 2015 and 2024. Findings indicate that learners frequently encounter obstacles such as language anxiety, limited opportunities for authentic practice, inadequate exposure to real-life communication, and an overemphasis on reading and writing in educational contexts. These challenges restrict fluency, accuracy, and learners’ willingness to communicate. Nonetheless, several strategies have proven effective in improving speaking skills. These include task-based learning, communicative classroom activities, targeted pronunciation training, integration of digital tools, and anxiety-reducing techniques. Additionally, supportive learning environments and peer collaboration are shown to boost learners’ confidence and engagement. The study concludes that speaking instruction in SLA should adopt an integrated approach that combines linguistic, psychological, and sociocultural support. Through communicative and technology-enhanced strategies, educators can strengthen learners’ fluency, reduce speaking anxiety, and foster effective language acquisition.
